Either don't understand the concepts of good and evil, or you understand it perfectly and think it's a load of bull. Some may call you selfish, some may call you unfeeling, but you're just doing what you believe will yield the best results, plain and simple. Why bother with petty ideals of right or wrong when you can do what will actively help those you give a fuck about? Your goals may be selfish or noble or anything in between, but you will not let anyone make you feel like garbage for going after them. You couldn't care less about what people brand you as. You just care about getting shit done by any means necessary.

mondstadt upholding justice? ha. please. absolutely not. the knights, bar a literal handful, would rather uphold prestige and reputation before caring about the wellbeing of the people.

no, diluc took that into his own hands. if the knights of favonius weren't going to keep their people safe, then diluc would do it for them.

he holds back the scoff and he folds his arms over his chest now.

"do not worry, it's not a city-wide belief. i don't wish to sound egotistical, but i am one of the few who believes in protecting the innocent, taking matters into my own hands, ensuring threats are swiftly disposed of."

what the duke doesn't know, is that once upon a time, diluc might have been one of those meropide prisoners if he had been caught in any other nation doing what he had done to snezhnaya. for that, diluc can't help but respect his role as duke.

diluc is someone who gained a second chance, and hearing the fortress didn't punish but rather offered that to the prisoners tugs at him.

he clears his throat.

despite owning the alcohol industry in mondstadt, the winery master himself much prefers beverages of the non-alcohol variety. he doesn't particularly like the cloudy sensation it gives him, he needs to remain vigilant in case of threats or any sign of danger.

besides, grape juice tastes far better than wine in his opinion.

as such, when he offered to sponsor with the winery, he had hoped it would be a great opportunity to promote his more friendlier drinks.

"ah, i can understand where the misconception comes. do not worry, we don't produce just wine. we also have a line of juices, coffees, and teas. i've traveled most of teyvat and have been inspired by different drinks and flavors, so i'd like to supply the fortress with my newer concoctions." he explains.
