Some Issues

Somehow, I can’t use any custom Tumblr themes on this blog anymore, so I’m stuck with using a regular Tumblr theme for the blog but a custom theme for the pages.

I don’t really know how to fix this issue and I’ve got to do some research to figure out how to fix the issue. Until then, enjoy this interesting Tumblr theme.

This and that and jury duty?!

Hi there.

I just want to give you all an update on my life, so here we go:

School is back in session and it’s been going well so far, already succeeding and making good grades. Starting strong is good, but finishing strong is better, so that’s the goal with school...and GRADUATION is in three months. Yay!

If you ever take a gander at the Ten random facts on the little bio I’ve written about myself, then you know I’m a Zumba® Instructor, and I must say that this keeps me quite busy and active. Don’t get me wrong! My body looks fantastic since I teach ten fitness classes each week, but it can be brutal sometimes. Ha. (Just so you know, I’m not teaching ten Zumba® classes a week. I actually teach different formats of fitness and all my classes combined equal ten.)

Going back to the school subject: I’ve to pass Piano Proficiency in order to actually receive my degree - and let’s not forget General Chemistry I Lab! - and I’m happy to announce that Class Piano (Advanced) is actually going pretty well and I’m actually learning stuff in this class. I’ll spare you the horror story of Class Piano (Beginning) but just know it was BAD. This new instructor is a bit scary: 1. She’s Russian. 2. She’s a pianist. Enough said.

Hopefully, you visit here regularly so you know that I’ve changed the look again and I love this design. The coding was such a pain to figure out and edit and decipher and all that jazz, but the end result is spectacular if you ask me. I can’t tell you how much time went into this current look - so why am I already starting the next one? Eh. Who knows? Anyway, enjoy this look, because it’s staying up a LONG time (or until I get tired of looking at it).

Going back to my life: I’ve jury duty! I don’t want to go, but, apparently, it’s a federal law that citizens must serve on a jury.....or go to jail. I’d prefer jury duty, tbh; however, that doesn’t insinuate that I even want to go. Ugh, sometimes performing civic duties just sucks. We’ll see how it goes. It might just be my next blog post.

I’ve nothing else to say or talk about that might interest you, so I bid thee farewell.

- Martin

“Dude, you should rest!”

Haha, Ikr!

Y’all, I’ve literally been in overdrive mode this entire week, and I’ve def been paying for it. My body is sore. My body is tired. My mind is still racing......BUT I’ve been doing really well.

School is still going really well and so is work. I just need SLEEP. LOTS. OF. SLEEP.

To all of you who have been complimenting my current layout, thanks so much; however, the credits really go to Kevin (header) and Ciara (template) for the amazing work they put into their designs.

At least, there’s a silver lining in all of this.

It seems COVID-19 has taken the entire world by storm in just a few months, but I refuse to let it control my life. Being at home and not really going out into the world is actually proving to be a good thing. I’ve more time to focus on personal goals, albeit it’s not by choice.

Last week was my Spring Break and I was able to spend three days at the beach before it was shut down and we (my gf and I) did practice social distancing. There were a few confirmed cases in the area and we weren’t going to take any chances.

On an unrelated not, enjoy this new theme to welcome in the new season. Spring is my favorite season of the year! It just sucks that it started off a little rocky. Anyway, this theme is quite different, I think, from what I usually put up. Tell me what you think. (Also, the buttons to the right are the navigation menu.)

A sweaty mess - haha!

What a perfect description for me rn after teaching a Step class tonight!

Hi there. Ik I’ve been somewhat MIA recently. I chose to lay low on purpose, so I can focus more on rl and such; however, here are some quick updates:

School is going exceptionally well for me. My chem lab is going much better and I am maintaining my A in the class. Class Piano (Advanced) is going steadily well. I just need to practice more. The patriotic tunes and my solo are actually somewhat difficult, not to mention the new arpeggios and cadences that we’ve been learning in class.

Work has been keeping me busy and active, but I still love it. I get to do something that is a passion, DANCE! My students are so inspiring and welcoming, and I absolutely love the support they show me in every class. I literally would be unemployed if they all decided to abandon me. I highly doubt that will happen since I constantly receive good reviews from them.

I joined the Swim Club at my university, and it has been relentlessly challenging. I’ve almost been driven to tears due to frustration or disappointment in myself. Even when I force myself to “keep pushing” and “don’t give up,” I still end up being super critical of my performance. Yes, most of the members were competitive swimmers for years. Yes, they’ve got more training. Yes, they’ve got better technique. But, gosh darnit, I’m a lifeguard! I’ve got training and technique, too, so why am I floundering like a fish out of water?! Ugh!

Life, in general, has been treating me well, and I’m not really struggling. I’m really blessed to be in the position in which I am. I look at so many people around me, and they seem to be burdened with so many issues (paying for school, paying off debts, taking care of kids, trying to make ends meet, etc.); meanwhile, I’m literally just cruising in life rn with so few concerns. Mainly, I just have to focus on graduation in December, and, so far, everything is falling into place.

Love is in the air!

#SorryNotSorry for the cheesy blog title.

I am sorry for such a long time before updating. I already had the new design ready to go but something glitched with it. Either my coding skills have gone downhill or Tumlbr has got it out for me and won’t accept complex custom theme codes. Eh, I don’t know, but it’s frustrating not being able to use a custom design and then having to create a completely different one.

As you can already see, this design uses very similar coding as my previous design featuring Halsey. It’s pretty much the same base code with a few adjustments. I like this tabular design for its simplicity and functionality. It’s not fancy like the design I already had planned to use, but it still gets the job done. The next time I try to do a complex design, I guess I’ll have to pick it apart block by block to ensure Tumblr will accept it and not frustrate me with “I’m sorry. You can’t use this customized theme.” (That’s really a paraphrase, but you all understand what I mean.)

Because I couldn’t go with my original design, I decided to use this one featuring Rihanna. Considering that it’s February and it’s Black History Month, it’s fitting that I feature a person of color and roses. A bit clever, eh? I’ve also updated my affiliates list. Thanks for being so patient with me.
