I Was Reading A Fic. It Was An AU, So It Very Much Varies From The Original Story, But The Same Characters

I was reading a fic. It was an AU, so it very much varies from the original story, but the same characters and all, just a change in an incident happening. It's such a beautifully well written fic.

And one of the daily commenters, is this terribly rude person. The only comment they leave is pure hatred. They could just leave? But no comments on every single chapter, how terrible the writting style is, and manyyyy more things, I won't mention here. It's not just hate, it's full on harassment. They reported her acc on Tumblr, got her banned. She fully stopped writing on AO3.

Today I just clicked on their page, and I kid you not they are a writer themselves. A fic with OC. The story is so different from the original plot. The other characters only have the name, no personalities, no characteristics relating to the actual book characters.

Which is absolutely fine. Like you have your taste. Read or write whatever you want. Fine. What is fine not tho? Spreading hate to another person, who works hard just because they write something that you don't agree with. You are a writer, you know how it feels to get hate. If you don't like it or agree with it just leave. You don't have to bring down someone, so you can feel good about yourself. Some person you don't even know, has probably fully stopped writing just because you were an asshole. You are not cool, just terrible.

Have nothing good you say? Leave.

It's endlessly funny to me that there are still so many people who don't get that some of us simply do not care about applying morals to our favourite fictional media.

You can rant and yell and cry about how, according to you, I'm a disgusting monster for loving the sexy evil characters and preferring the problematic pairings with a shit load of sexual tension but here's the thing:

If you think writing long rants about why a ship is toxic or why a character is a terrible person, and why everyone who enjoys that ship/character is an immoral creep, gives you a higher level of morality... you need to get a grip in all honesty.

It's really not that serious. You're not changing any minds, you're not enlightening anyone - you're just being an annoying asshat who thinks their righteousness is more important than everyone else's fun.

A very true comment, mind you. But someone who saw the comment took their precious time to send over atleast 20+ asks, most of which are just disgusting and vile. And ofcourse the classic 'go k!ll yourself'

I read somewhere, that the best brothers, Aegon III & Viserys II, hated their parents Rhaenyra and Daemon???? And the reason? Because none of their 8 combined children were given their grandparents' name? AND they didn't recognise Rhaenyra as being a true queen in the histories??????
