What Do You Think Andre And Cals Favorite Animals Are?

What do you think Andre and Cal’s favorite animals are?

andre’s is a cat. sounds obvious because he has mel, but genuinely he loves cats so much. he’s the type of person to pet and hold stray cats without caring if they give him fleas or rabies. cal gets onto him for it, but he doesn’t care. (also, cal reminds him a little of a cat. don’t tell cal about that though.)

cal would like sharks. he’d have little keychains of sharks and magnets from every time he went to the aquarium. he watches shark week every year even though his mom thinks it’s violent and bloody. he could name off so many facts about sharks. once you get him started on the animal, he doesn’t stop.

let’s talk about cal’s obsession with blood.

in the school’s security camera footage, we see cal staring at the blood on the floor multiple times. he even says “i can see my reflection… in his blood” when staring at a body. in the midst of zero day, the most intense and important day of cal’s life, he still takes quite a bit of time to admire the blood on the floor, something andre doesn’t really comment on. he loves it. it ignites something within him.

makes me think about him sh-ing. how he’d stare at the thick red dripping onto the floor, watching it pool up by his feet. he’d get in the shower and stand under the hot water with his gaze on the drain as the water turns a deep crimson. he doesn’t even blink. he’ll be anywhere and pick and tear at the scabs on his arms. it gives him a rush that he can’t get from anywhere else.

imagine andre and cal’s college dorm if zero day hadn’t happened. they wouldn’t have “sides” of the room to decorate or live in; they’d just use the whole room as one. cal would hang posters everywhere of musicians and movies he likes. andre would have tons of books and make sure everything is neat. they’d end up pushing their beds together by the end of the semester because they hate sleeping on twin beds. (also, they get to sleep closer to one another, but neither one of them will admit that.) maybe andre would get diagnosed with autism and be able to bring mel as an emotional support animal. any time either of the boys got stressed with school work or was tired, she would hop up next to them and start cuddling.

they could have had a good life together. instead, they’re together in the afterlife, stuck in ungrowing bodies and dwindling souls.

been thinking about this for a while… binge disorder andre.

he stays on a diet during the day, bringing his own lunch to school and watching his calories all the time. his obsession with food is always blamed on being an athlete. whenever anyone asks him about it, he mentions some nutrition book he read or a diet a favorite runner of his has. he works out nonstop, even at home. he’s constantly doing push-ups, sit-ups, and jumping jacks in his room.

when darkness falls, he starts eating. he sits out in the kitchen while mel meows at his feet for food. there have been nights where andre is crying while eating and begging himself to stop, but he can’t. he feels disgusting after, often throwing up or working out until he has to start getting ready for school.

there’s a scale by his bed, right by his nightstand. he checks it every morning and bases his entire day around it. he’s passed out multiple times during track practices and meets, but he convinces himself it’s because he’s been eating too much.

it’s a vicious cycle. he can’t escape it.

What are your opinions on Andre sh? If he did, would you think he hid it?

i strongly believe he does sh, but he doesn’t think of it that way because he doesn’t do what cal does. he keeps lighters in his car and his room and uses them to burn his hands, lower arms, and thighs. he also punches himself and other things. he’s had countless bruises because of this which he blames on track. he’s learned how to fix holes in the wall because his dad got tired of fixing them.

i don’t think andre would hide this. he wouldn’t have to. he’s always been viewed as violent and angry. people wouldn’t worry about him or think that he’s sad. they’d simply say it was just andre being andre. he wouldn’t ask for help, and he wouldn’t get it unless his actions impacted other people. he’s become so much of a threat to himself but is never seen as a victim.
