eric and cal are both absolute potheads while alex and andre prefer cigarettes. andre smokes the least out of everyone but always has a pack in his glove box. alex is more open to weed than andre, liking how he feels all light and calm. the only person that vapes out of the four of them is eric, and he gets the worst flavors of all time.

andre tutoring cal.

andre’s always been a genius, at least that’s what cal says. he excels in math and science as well as english and history, an almost impossible feat. in middle school and freshman and sophomore year, he tutored people constantly. the amount of seniors he tutored as an underclassman was actually hilarious.

around junior year, when he got into varsity track and started hating people a lot more, he only tutored a couple people. when he became a senior and the plan for zero day came along, he abandoned tutoring all together.

except for cal.

they’d do flash cards in his car, sometimes at the park and sometimes in the school parking lot 30 minutes before the bell rang. at nights, they’d sit at the dinner table and work through problems together. when andre was really busy or simply fucking exhausted, he just handed his papers over to cal so he could copy them.

cal got him in trouble one time. he’d copied an essay word for word. andre almost smacked him that day, claiming that he almost got a zero. good thing his teacher liked him enough and gave him a grace period to write another essay.

cal uses andre’s intelligence all the time. andre would care if it was somebody else, but he can’t be mad for too long with cal.

iroquois high school is shown to be two or more floors. every time i remember that, i think of andre and cal running up and down the stairs during the shooting. andre’s track star self would be killing it, hustling without problem. cal, on the other hand, would go up a flight of stairs and have to catch his breath for a second. after a while, andre just tells cal to take care of the first floor.

eric loves popsicles. during the summer, he almost always has one. when he’s in his or alex’s room, he’s got a popsicle in hand. when he’s sitting in his back yard, he has one. even in the car, he has one. alex has no fucking clue where he gets all of them and how they don’t melt.

their kisses always taste sickly sweet as eric’s mouth is coated in sugar and fake dye. there’s a constant ring around his mouth. sometimes it looks like he’s got some sort of weird lipstick on and other times he just looks ill. he doesn’t mind, though.

imagine cal laying in his casket with a halo of comfort around him. his siblings place their favorite toys on his shoulders while his parents cover his chest with his childhood blankie, the blue of it blending in with his face that lacks oxygen. there’s a stuffed elephant and dinosaur resting above his head. he’s surrounded by something so childlike. his gunshot wound blew the back of his skull out, but when he’s lying there on his back, it’s invisible. the last sight his family has of him is a stark contrast to their son’s and brother’s actions. they’ve turned a villain, an evil criminal, innocent.
