he’d call andre on the old phones the hospital has that make his voice all crackly. he’d use one of the small pencils they have to write down the numbers of his parents that andre obviously knows. he teases cal about how he knows the numbers, but cal doesn’t.

cal defends himself, telling andre he should be flattered that he even remembered andre’s cell phone number. they’d laugh and have endless conversations until a nurse tells cal to get off the phone.

he’d write in his journal about andre and his siblings. he wouldn’t really miss his parents, but his siblings are always on his mind. when he talks to his psychiatrist about a support system outside of his family, he mentions andre and rachel.

he talks about rachel a lot, making the psychiatrist wonder if they’re dating. he heavily denies it and mentions that he likes someone else but will never admit who it is.

his parents come to pick him up after a week or two, and andre is sitting in the backseat. they have his favorite snacks and music on the radio. he’s glad to be home, even if he’s annoyed from the amount of medication he has to take.
