There's a door at the end of the shadowed, decrepit corridor. Claws scrape and tap, echo everywhere and nowhere. The only wait out is the door ahead. Does it go up? Does it go down? Will it continue forward? Is it the exit? Or an entrance to a new living hell?

Some writing advice I will hold on to until the day I die:

You don't need a dialogue tag for every exchange between characters, especially if it's clear who is speaking.

That's why character voice is so important to nail

What is the most significant secret they keep from others, and how do they justify keeping it hidden?

What is the most important object or memento they own? Does it hold sentimental value?

What is the one thing they wish they could learn or master?
