You loved your job, you really did.

Teaching little kids all day long was an absolute joy for you. But if you said recess wasn’t your favourite time of the day, you’d definitely be lying. “Finally,” you groaned as you took a seat on a sofa in the teacher’s lounge, a large cup of coffee in your hand as you closed your eyes.

Sangyeon, Jacob and Hyunjae – three teachers at your school that you considered close friends – shared knowing smiles. “Rough morning?” Jacob asked.

“I love my students,” you said, eyes still closed. “But they can be little devils sometimes.”

Hyunjae burst into laughter as Jacob and Sangyeon grinned. “They can’t be that bad?”

You opened your eyes to observe your colleagues. “It’s Emma’s birthday today. She brought cake for the entire class, and they ate the entire thing within the first ten minutes of first period,” you recalled in a monotone voice.

Jacob winced. “Sugar rush?” he guessed.

“You have no idea,” you complained, having flashbacks to your students running around the classroom and causing absolute chaos. “I would literally kill for some coffee. Or at least maim.”

Hyunjae pointed at your mug. “What do you call that?” he teased.

“Terrible teacher lounge coffee that hasn’t been warm for, like, an hour,” you observed as you took a sip of your coffee. Then, you winced and pushed the mug away from you. “I may be desperate for a good caffeine fix, but I’m not that desperate,” you mumbled as you got up to toss the contents of your mug down the sink.

Sangyeon’s eyes trailed after your retreating figure, a mindless smile on his face as he observed the way you glared at your, now empty, mug in disgust as if it had betrayed you. His gaze drew towards Jacob when his colleague cleared his throat, a knowing look in his and Hyunjae’s eyes as Sangyeon gave them an innocent smile. “Are you ever going to ask her out?” Jacob asked with a lowered voice.

You had a shit ton of work to do, and so did Sangyeon. The both of you made a bet on who would get tired and go to bed first.

Being competitive by nature, you didn't want to lose. Even after hours and hours of paperwork, you still managed to keep your eyes wide open. Sangyeon on the other hand was on the brink of falling face-first onto the desk.

Why does his head have to feel this heavy at a time like this?

"I can't do it. I'm gonna continue this tomorrow," Sangyeon stood up, cracked his knuckles, and let out a big sigh.

"Yes! I won!"

Without any warning, he attacked and tickled your stomach, pushing you onto your shared bed.

"Sangyeon stop! It tickles!" you try to say, laughs interrupting in between each sentence.

"Let's sleep y/n," with eyes fluttered shut, Sangyeon pulled you closer to him.

"But we haven't changed or brushed our teeth yet?"

"We'll do it tomorrow," his voice slowly faltering.

You snuggled up to your pillow as Sangyeon uses his last ounce of energy to pull you into his embrace. Ah, a comfier pillow.

juyeon would trust you a lot so if you did this to him, he wouldn’t think that you were cheating on him

he’s quite innocent so he might think you prepared something for him

like presents (or hello kitty merchandise)

it was around 8 in the evening but the two of you had yet to eat dinner. the rice cooker broke down when the two of you were about to cook together, leaving you with no choice but to order in.

“it’s okay, baby, i can just get it repaired tomorrow,” he said, patting your head to comfort you. the two of you were leaning against the counter, your arms folded and your face pulled into a frown. “why did it have to malfunction right now,” you cupped your face in your hands, internally groaning at the trouble caused.

“don’t worry, okay? how about i go get some chinese takeout? i’m getting hungry,” he said, bending down to your level so that you would directly be looking at him. your boyfriend’s visuals honestly never ceased to amaze you. you simply nodded and offered to come along but he asked you to stay at home. “i’ll do everything, just sit there and look pretty like you always do,” he chuckled, guiding you to the living room so you could watch the television as he left the apartment after kissing you goodbye.

about ten minutes after watching a show, the doorbell rang and you thought that it was juyeon who had forgotten something but you were met face to face with the mailman. he obviously had made quite an effort to bring up your parcel due to the sweat dripping down his forehead. “sign here, please,” he said, catching his breath. you did just as he said, finally understanding why he was so tired.

it wasn’t exactly easy carrying an almost 6ft parcel up four flights of stairs...

the sound of the front door swung open just as you put the said unopened parcel in the closet. juyeon walked into the room, seeing that you weren’t in the kitchen nor living room and that was when you slammed the closet door shut, scaring juyeon at the loud noise. “what are you doing?” he let out a laugh at your panicked state instead of being angry. “nothing!” you muttered, guarding the closet door.

he started to walk towards you and eventually wrapped his arms around your waist, “why? did you get me something? it is my birthday soon..” he wondered what you were trying so hard to guard. did you get him the latest special edition of the hello kitty figurine? he was dying to know what you were hiding so he came up with a plan.

“anyways, i bought the food already, it’s on the dining table, let’s go,” he pulled you by the hand and released you as you reached the kitchen before bolting back into the room, alarming you. “no, no, juyeon, don’t open that!” you shouted, trying to stop him but he wouldn’t reply.

you came rushing into the room and saw your boyfriend gaping at the jaehyun cardboard cut-out that you had bought and received from the mailman earlier. you stood by the door, scratching your head, awaiting his reaction. “why the hell do you have a cardboard cut-out of someone else.. he’s not even from the boyz!”

he was very much in shock since it wasn’t something he was expecting

it became a joke for the two of you guys

because.. how long do you think you could’ve hidden a whole cardboard cut-out...

“so that’s why i saw the mailman struggling to carry something up the stairs! it was you!”

“Kiss it better.”

It was a phrase you heard nonstop. The main perpetrator almost always being Kim Sunwoo. Ever since the two of you were just little kids, at an age where the only worries weighing on your backs being cooties and whether or not their favorite cartoon character would defeat the villain of the show (which was pretty useless, seeing as the episodes always followed a formula that lead to the protagonist winning everything though, kids are quite oblivious).

Every time you hurt yourself, it was always the one solution he came up with, no matter what.

You scraped your knee? Sunwoo would kiss it better. You got a paper cut? Sunwoo’s there to kiss it better. You broke your ankle playing dodgeball and now had to walk around in crutches and a cast around your leg? You know Sunwoo’s gonna kiss it better even when he knows it won’t help at all.

And despite the both of you now being grown adults, Sunwoo was always one for traditions.

“Ow- This coffee’s too hot, I think I burnt my lips.” you mope, a finger coming up to touch your lips as you look down at them.

You turn to Sunwoo who was mindlessly scrolling through his phone before he immediately stood up, alarmed by your sudden complaint as he walked over to you, from the next chair.

“Hey, Sunwoo? Can you kiss it better for me?” you boldly remark, pointing to your lips as you begin to pout exaggeratedly, a smile growing on Sunwoo’s face. He places a finger on your chin, bringing you closer to him before planting his soft lips against your’s for a mere second. Yet that one small kiss made you feel like you were bathing in total and absolute bliss.

“There, all better.”
