one near mishap with the coffee machine, two wrongly heard orders and three complaining customers later, you were finally done with your shift. 

things were hectic beyond imagination at the cafe you worked part time at; there were plenty of times where you were about to call it quits, cry or maybe do those two at the same time. you needed the money though, so you were sucking it up. 

a rather not-so-covert “ahem” snapped you out of your trance and you cut your gaze to jay. 

jay, your senior in school, was also somehow a barista here (if that was even a thing). it was a chance meeting that you had him as your business major and also quite the surprise when you saw him as you walked into the cafe to start part time work. 

jay waved you over with a small smile on his face, a drink in his hand. 

“is there anything else for me to do?” you asked apprehensively, afraid of what was about to come out from his mouth. you had messed up and was pretty much frazzled when there were that many customers gawking behind the counter for their drink. yet jay was so patient with you, you actually felt bad when he cleaned up after your figurative and literal messes

he handed the drink (he knew your favorite drink?) to you, and you took it, mind running miles per hour. 

“good job today.” 

your mind came to a screeching halt at his praise. “i…what?” 

“you did well. i know how sudden it is to have one man down especially on monday mornings, but we coped! i can handle things until the afternoon shift comes, which is in about 30 minutes and…” 

jay listed out the different things that happened but all you could focus on was the cup in your hands and how warm you felt. you wanted to speak up to express your gratitude, but your voice got caught in your throat and the day’s exhaustion hit you full force. 

“hey, hey. it’s okay.” jay reached out to wipe your tears and you winced internally at how silly you were for crying over something inevitable. you slightly backed away, hastily brushing his hands away, “i’m sorry. i shouldn’t be crying.”

jay stared at you for a second, before a light-hearted chuckle escaped him. “you didn’t do anything wrong.” 

a smile touched his lips, “if anything i should be apologizing to you for not informing you beforehand.” 

you sniffled, “i just thought…i don’t know. i messed up and it was busy…i feel so bad i can’t do as much because i lack experience, unlike the other staff.” 

“don’t say that. you were doing so well.” grinning from ear to ear, he gave you a playful nudge, “you aren’t going to quit the cafe right? we need someone like you, plus doing shifts alongside you is fun, hectic or not.” 

you burst out laughing at the sudden change of emotions and you found yourself nodding, “yeah. i’m not planning to quit this part-time job anytime soon.” 

jay held up a finger, “wait a moment.” he dashed behind the counter and pushed a bagged pastry into your other hand. “take this and have a good rest, okay?” his words set your heart fluttering and you hesitantly nodded. 

“see you tomorrow, then.”

“my love…?” 

jongho’s thoughts of whipping up dinner immediately dissipated, and he gave his fullest attention to you. he quickly walked towards you, crossing the living room in 3 quick strides. the food could wait, whatever you had to say definitely shouldn’t. 

jongho sat down beside you on the couch, eyes genuinely searching yours. “yes?” 

“i feel like…i haven’t got the most reassurance from you today.” you fidgeted with the quilt in your hands, tucking your legs towards you. your gaze was downcast as you hurriedly explained your sudden statement. 

“i mean i understand you’re busy and i’m busy too. i just—” 

“come here.” jongho opened his arms and you curled up in his lap without a moment of hesitation. taking in a deep breath, he lightly rocked you back and forth, stroking your back as he did.  

“i’m sorry you didn’t get enough love today.” he peppered kisses all over your face, those feather-light ones that he knew would make you smile. pulling away from each other, he pressed one last kiss on your lips. 

“you’ve been there for me through my tough times, so let me be here for you too. is there anything i can do?” 

“i had a long day, and...i don’t really want to talk about it. so…just hold me, please.” you leaned towards him and he tightly wrapped his arms around you. 

“yeah, of course.”

together, in serene stillness, sat the two of you in your own little bubble. jongho was more than willing to be that pillar of support, just as you have been for him when he was struggling. 

“let’s just lie here for a little longer.” 

since his beloved was asking, jongho definitely couldn’t refuse. sitting back against the couch, he cuddled you, not letting you go. 

yeah, the food can definitely wait.

“Do you only come here just to sleep?” Kevin raised an eyebrow (knowing full well your eyes were closed) as you snuggled closer to his side and his arms instinctively wrapped tighter around your shoulders. 

“We’re not even halfway through the movie.” 

When you gave a huff in response, Kevin jokingly rolled his eyes, “I’m starting to wonder if you’re dating me or the bed. You sleepy bear.” You half-heartedly punched his shoulder, before kissing the same spot, causing him to chuckle at your antics. 

“‘M not sleepy, just…it’s comfortable around you…” Kevin gently patted the back of your head, watching as your chest rose and fell steadily beside him. Reaching out with his right hand, he tucked the blanket securely around you, a smile on his lips mirroring yours. 

“Okay, okay. We’ll finish this some other day.” Kevin relented, adjusting both your bodies so that he was holding you flushed against his chest. Staring at your peaceful form for a bit more, he leaned towards you, peppering kisses all over your face. 

“I’m glad to be your safe space.”

niki would be on his way home from practice or a really packed schedule, tired and sweaty, and you’d drop him a text such as this. niki grins stupidly at his phone, fingers flying across the screen to shoot back a witty response.

niki doesn’t have the heart to make you worry further and does as he is told when he enters the dorms. he knows he has his hyungs to look after him, a whole manager team working round the clock to ensure their safety too, but things like this where it involves you? 

absolutely heart-fluttering.

probably a funny picture, or an inside joke. could be something cheesy niki said. nevertheless, hearing you say that also puts a smile on his face. he’s beaming, face all radiant as he rapidly responds to your previous texts. 

niki: you’re mad !! my joke wasn’t even that funny LOL

you: it’s just you because you make my days a lot brighter

small nuances like this and niki feels like he’s falling deeper in love with you. he sends a picture of himself, a testament of how much he was giggling at the mere fact you brought him this much happiness.

there may have been times where i’d feel he gets a little upset when you didn’t say it back to him; you now make sure that with every “i love you” from him is a return response of “i love you too” from you

he finds it difficult to express “i love you” outrightly, yet still surprises you with the other ways he shows love (to me he feels more of a words of affirmation kinda guy) 

he made it crystal clear, that no matter what time you’re out till, he wants you to ping him, especially if he isn’t able to send you all the way to your doorstep

call it gentlemanly, but there’s something about him sending you off at your doorstep that just makes you yearn for him more

i’d feel that he would make this declaration a competition, out of playful banter and love

definitely there are times where his words knows no bounds, such as “i love you with every breath i take”, “i love you with every single waking thought i have of you”, “i love you to the moon and back” that just makes you (and me) a sappy little mess

this beautiful beautiful man has a pretty pretty smile and i’d think this is an equivalent of “i love you” 

for all the instances (whether through text, over a call or together) that he just beams at you knowingly, yeah those are truly the times where he falls in love with you a little bit more

he cherishes you so much that he can’t help but grin at how lovely you are // can you imagine he’s over a call then he just pauses mid sentence to tell you how much he is smiling because he loves you ? GAHHH

seems like the material gifting kinda guy, and his little gifts range from food to clothing to anything you set your eyes on 

he likes the way you light up when you receive a surprise from him,, because he knows you aren’t the type to actively ask for gifts he revels in the fact that you try to reject it but end up cherishing his gift 

most commonly he’d get food to cheer you up/ give you strength, sometimes it can be plushies just because they remind him of you

(maybe it’s just me but) when he texts you/ tells you, it’s heartwarming to know that someone is thinking of you and most definitely missing you at that point and to have said it (and he says it with such soulful eyes you’d think this little puppy has separation anxiety) 

most definitely thinks about you a lot, whether you’re eating well, if you’re warm, if you’re having a good day and more ! so wholesome

this would most likely be over text that he types it out, as a means to end the conversation when in reality he just wants to talk to you forever and ever 

but say, if you were together with him, he’d wrap you in a tight hug and not let you go (don’t let him go too, because there’s only one of him in this world)

so hearing this signature ending from him also signifies that he’s gonna be gone for a while, but not for long because he wants to spend time with you
