“my love…?” 

jongho’s thoughts of whipping up dinner immediately dissipated, and he gave his fullest attention to you. he quickly walked towards you, crossing the living room in 3 quick strides. the food could wait, whatever you had to say definitely shouldn’t. 

jongho sat down beside you on the couch, eyes genuinely searching yours. “yes?” 

“i feel like…i haven’t got the most reassurance from you today.” you fidgeted with the quilt in your hands, tucking your legs towards you. your gaze was downcast as you hurriedly explained your sudden statement. 

“i mean i understand you’re busy and i’m busy too. i just—” 

“come here.” jongho opened his arms and you curled up in his lap without a moment of hesitation. taking in a deep breath, he lightly rocked you back and forth, stroking your back as he did.  

“i’m sorry you didn’t get enough love today.” he peppered kisses all over your face, those feather-light ones that he knew would make you smile. pulling away from each other, he pressed one last kiss on your lips. 

“you’ve been there for me through my tough times, so let me be here for you too. is there anything i can do?” 

“i had a long day, and...i don’t really want to talk about it. so…just hold me, please.” you leaned towards him and he tightly wrapped his arms around you. 

“yeah, of course.”

together, in serene stillness, sat the two of you in your own little bubble. jongho was more than willing to be that pillar of support, just as you have been for him when he was struggling. 

“let’s just lie here for a little longer.” 

since his beloved was asking, jongho definitely couldn’t refuse. sitting back against the couch, he cuddled you, not letting you go. 

yeah, the food can definitely wait.

Sunwoo tucked his basketball under his arm and swung his bag over his shoulder, “You know, as seniors we ought to be more cohesive with our juniors. Should we plan a bonding day? Or maybe we can stay back after training? You know as leaders of our club we can be more friendly…”

Eric rolled his eyes, pushing in his chair whilst waiting for Sunwoo to hurry up. “Speaking of training, it is literally about to start. So if you’d stop yapping we’d be on our way--”

“Hold on isn’t that…” Sunwoo interrupted Eric’s lecture, brushing past him towards the classroom doors. “Kim Sunwoo I wasn’t done talking?!” Eric huffed and followed behind but Sunwoo paid no attention, for his focus was on you. 

Why were you outside his classroom? 

“Sunwoo.” You greeted him halfheartedly, arms locked in front of you. Sunwoo eyed you, playfully teasing “What are you doing here, squirt?” Eric stood nearby, sighing a little too loudly to signify his presence. Right, training was about to start. 

You visibly stiffened at Eric’s exhale, “Are you headed home? I kinda need a ride.” Sunwoo tipped his head towards the basketball under his arms, “No can do. I’ve got basketball practice. And it’s gonna be quite a while.” Sunwoo didn’t miss the dejected look that flashed across your face as you tilted your head down. 

You shifted your weight from one foot to the other, as if you wanted to say something more. Eric cleared his throat again and you quickly shook your head, “It’s okay then. Have a good practice you two.” As soon as you made that declaration, Eric took this opportunity to drag Sunwoo away. 

Uneasiness settled in Sunwoo’s heart and he craned his neck to glance at you through the throng of students. 

Why did you have to make him worried? 

“I’m not going.” “Going where? Training?” Eric joked, but stopped when Sunwoo ceased walking. “Sunwoo, you…don’t tell me…” 

“Captain Eric, I’m pretty sure you can handle one training without your Vice-Captain, right?” Sunwoo was already backtracking, and Eric exasperatedly threw out his hands, “Really? Really?! You do know our juniors are the noisiest bunch of children?” 

Sunwoo waved as a reassurance, sprinting away, whilst hollering, “Just get someone leader-material, uhmm, Han Jisung! The logistics leader! I’ll make it up for the next practice!” He didn’t have the time to watch Eric’s mild breakdown.

Scrambling down steps 2 at a time, he ran with all his might to the bicycle bay. Hopping onto his bike, he easily whizzed through the crowd, spotting you from afar. A pang of relief surged through his body, for you were still fine (although you were slowly dragging your feet to the school gate). 

“Yo squirt!” You flicked your head around, watching, surprised that Sunwoo was pedaling at full force. “Sunwoo?” He dismounted the bike, beads of sweat dotting his forehead, “Hop on.” 

“Don’t you have practice? (Why are you here?)” You bit back your curiosity and Sunwoo patted the empty passenger spot behind his seat. “Nevermind that. You on the other hand look like you’re about to drop unconscious. Care to explain?”

“Just a headache. A bad headache” You added on when Sunwoo raised his eyebrow (it was as if he saw through your attempt to be alright) at your initial statement. “Yeah, that just proves my point about you looking sickly. Get on, squirt. I’m taking you all the way home.” 

Sunwoo saw through your momentary hesitance and pulled you towards the seat, “Really. I mean it. You came to me, didn’t you?” The thought of you getting home faster and skipping the crowded public transport (which will aggravate your headache) won you over. Just like that, you two were on your way home. 

“Sunwoo, did you really skip practice?” “Uh no? I wasn’t needed today. Today Coach wants to focus on the juniors.” He lied through his teeth, a line rehearsed and repeated on his way down. “Okay. Not because of me right?” Worry laced your words. Sunwoo almost cooed at how adorable you were in that moment. . 

“You silly. Why would I skip practice?” He teased you (you smacked him real hard on the back), but his heart softened and added on, “You on the other hand have a knack for making me worried.” That seemed to perk you up and you held onto his waist tighter. 

“Thank you Sunwoo.” “Anyday.“

when you asked heeseung if you could bring a friend he was not expecting another guy. honestly even though he said, "yes." he was hoping then you'd change your mind and not bring anyone in general.

"you should go y/n, i think he's getting a little impatient." andrew whispers as jay looked off into the distance. you nod and wave saying good bye to your friend and walk out of the store with jay.

"couldn't you have at least been a little friendlier?" you scoffed.

jay looks at you and stops in his tracks, "why would i be friendly to someone who is flirting with you?"

you purse your lips together then laugh, "jay, baby, you're a funny guy."

this poor baby, he didn't want to be jealous because he trusted you but he couldn't help but feel his heart tug a little bit when he saw how joyful you were with an old friend.

"oh my god babe that's my friend from high school let me go say hi." you say excitedly as you spot an old friend from afar.

you grab jake's hand and walk towards the boy, "oh my god, i haven't seen you in forever."

"y/n! how are you?" the boy asks with a smile on his face.

"i'm good, how are you?" you reply giving both him and jake a smile. you could feel jake's palm start to sweat to squeeze it giving him reassurance.

"i'm good, who is this you have with you?"

you laugh and introduce the two, "this is my boyfriend jake, and jake this is my childhood friend eric."

"it's nice to meet you." jake finally says smiling.

"oh, he has an accent, that's cool." eric says smiling. "i'm glad to see you finally with someone after all the complaining in high school about being single."

you roll your eyes and laugh, "what about you, any girls yet?"

eric shakes his head and sighs, "not yet, but you guys should get going don't let me keep you here i'll see you around."

you go in for a hug and then wave the boy goodbye before walking out the store. "did you have to hug him?" jake finally says quietly.

you laugh and smile at jake, "do you want one too?"

jake shakes his head, "you have eric cooties now."

"so childish, come here." you pull him by the collar placing a kiss on his lips. "better?"

"maybe one more and i'll forgive you." jake cheekily says smiling. you roll your eyes and place another kiss on his lips. "i'm still going to teach you a lesson about interacting with other guys when we get home though." he smugly says grabbing your hand continue to walk.

sunghoon didn't see the problem with taking you to an old figure skater reunion, at least he didn't see the problem with it until he saw you talking to one of his seniors.

"so i see you've met jun hyung." sunghoon inserts himself in the conversation.

you nod, "yeah, he's really nice did you guys train together?" you ask the boys.

sunghoon nods, "yeah, we did."

"how have you been sunghoon?" jun asks politely.

sunghoon smiles, "i've been good."

"that's good to hear, and you've brought a girl here today which is quite the surprise." jun jokes laughing causing you to laugh as well.

"who would've thought right? the park sunghoon brings a girl to a reunion." you joke along smiling.

sunghoon didn't mind the joking, but seeing you crack jokes with someone who he not only used to train with and compete with unlocked the competitiveness in him he forgot he had.

"actually hyung, we have to go, hopefully i'll see you again sometime." sunghoon says grabbing your hand.

"maybe i'll see you at the next olympics?" jun challenges smiling.

"you just might." sunghoon smiles back but his eyes telling a different story.

the two of you walked out the venue and you grab your hand from sunghoon, "hoon, what was that back there?"

"what was what?"

"that random surge of competitiveness?" you ask scoffing.

"i didn't like the way he was looking at you y/n, and the jokes you two made-"

"so you were jealous?" you ask tilting your head condescendingly.

sunghoon scoffs, "i just don't like seeing other guys interact with what's mine." sunghoon pulls you in by the waist, his eyes challenging yours, "and you're mine." he whispers before placing a kiss on your lips, then your neck. "now let's go home." he says opening the passenger door of his car letting you in.

Kenma understands what it’s like to be talked over and interrupted. Especially in a large group, he knows what it’s like to be ignored because people can’t hear him or think his opinion is irrelevant. It had never bothered him because it would take more of his energy to keep talking anyway. But when it comes to you, he finds it unacceptable.

Kenma was half-listening to you talking about a recent experience, but he didn’t fail to notice how you stopped midway and gradually lower the volume of your voice. Someone in the group changed the subject while you were still speaking. When he realizes you’ve been purposefully ignored, he can’t help but abandon the game he’s almost finished with and devote his full attention to you.

One glance at your glum expression, had him putting down his phone, turning to face you, and in a gentle voice coaxes you to, “Continue. What were you saying?”

Just seeing your face light up made him completely invested in your story. He honestly wouldn’t mind ignoring the group conversation for you – never wanting to participate in it in the first place – as he finds what you’re saying more interesting. Eventually, Kenma would excuse you both to pull you in a quiet place so he could listen to you “better”. Your voice is his favorite thing, and making sure you feel heard has always been his number one priority.

“Do you only come here just to sleep?” Kevin raised an eyebrow (knowing full well your eyes were closed) as you snuggled closer to his side and his arms instinctively wrapped tighter around your shoulders. 

“We’re not even halfway through the movie.” 

When you gave a huff in response, Kevin jokingly rolled his eyes, “I’m starting to wonder if you’re dating me or the bed. You sleepy bear.” You half-heartedly punched his shoulder, before kissing the same spot, causing him to chuckle at your antics. 

“‘M not sleepy, just…it’s comfortable around you…” Kevin gently patted the back of your head, watching as your chest rose and fell steadily beside him. Reaching out with his right hand, he tucked the blanket securely around you, a smile on his lips mirroring yours. 

“Okay, okay. We’ll finish this some other day.” Kevin relented, adjusting both your bodies so that he was holding you flushed against his chest. Staring at your peaceful form for a bit more, he leaned towards you, peppering kisses all over your face. 

“I’m glad to be your safe space.”
