“doie. i’ve got a question.” 

“uh huh?” doyoung raised an eyebrow at your inquisitive tone, but made no actual move to look up at you. you were sat across him on the couch, the two of you relaxing in comfortable silence. 

“what if…i became a worm?” 

“then i’d become a worm too, and we can live a worm-y life together. We could roll in the grass and bask in the sunlight, together.” he took your silence as satisfaction, and proceeded to lean against the backrest. “that’s a funny question you got there. this isn’t some sort of test right?”

“no! it’s just a random question. then…what if we broke up?” 

doyoung gently put his phone down on his lap, gazing at you with those eyes you’ve come to love, “that’s not happening. i love you so much that breaking up with you is out of the question. but if that is your wish, then i will appreciate the times we had together, and wish you all the best.” 

doyoung frowned, not enjoying the idea of being apart from you, “don’t think of breaking up with me though. i’m gonna be so mad. come here you dummy, i’m not letting you go.” 

wordlessly you crawled into his embrace, lying down so that your back was on his front and you were sitting in the space created by his legs. 

“doie, do you love me?” 

“of course i do.” he answered readily, “you were the unexpected love that i never thought i’d encounter. now that i have you, you’re all that i ever wanted and i wouldn’t trade this relationship for anything else in the world.” 

“but what if—” 

“where are all these questions coming from, hmm?” doyoung lightly chided you, hands coming around your waist to hold you. 

you felt your face heat up and you quickly hid your burning cheeks behind your hands, “sorry. that was just my anxiousness speaking.” 

as he peppered kisses on the exposed part of your neck, he promised, “erase your doubts. i’m here with you now. your intrusive thoughts have no hold on you. you’re with me now, alright?”

Kenma understands what it’s like to be talked over and interrupted. Especially in a large group, he knows what it’s like to be ignored because people can’t hear him or think his opinion is irrelevant. It had never bothered him because it would take more of his energy to keep talking anyway. But when it comes to you, he finds it unacceptable.

Kenma was half-listening to you talking about a recent experience, but he didn’t fail to notice how you stopped midway and gradually lower the volume of your voice. Someone in the group changed the subject while you were still speaking. When he realizes you’ve been purposefully ignored, he can’t help but abandon the game he’s almost finished with and devote his full attention to you.

One glance at your glum expression, had him putting down his phone, turning to face you, and in a gentle voice coaxes you to, “Continue. What were you saying?”

Just seeing your face light up made him completely invested in your story. He honestly wouldn’t mind ignoring the group conversation for you – never wanting to participate in it in the first place – as he finds what you’re saying more interesting. Eventually, Kenma would excuse you both to pull you in a quiet place so he could listen to you “better”. Your voice is his favorite thing, and making sure you feel heard has always been his number one priority.

summary: a bad day at work? jay is there to make it better  word count: 557 words

one near mishap with the coffee machine, two wrongly heard orders and three complaining customers later, you were finally done with your shift. 

things were hectic beyond imagination at the cafe you worked part time at; there were plenty of times where you were about to call it quits, cry or maybe do those two at the same time. you needed the money though, so you were sucking it up. 

a rather not-so-covert “ahem” snapped you out of your trance and you cut your gaze to jay. 

jay, your senior in school, was also somehow a barista here (if that was even a thing). it was a chance meeting that you had him as your business major and also quite the surprise when you saw him as you walked into the cafe to start part time work. 

jay waved you over with a small smile on his face, a drink in his hand. 

“is there anything else for me to do?” you asked apprehensively, afraid of what was about to come out from his mouth. you had messed up and was pretty much frazzled when there were that many customers gawking behind the counter for their drink. yet jay was so patient with you, you actually felt bad when he cleaned up after your figurative and literal messes

he handed the drink (he knew your favorite drink?) to you, and you took it, mind running miles per hour. 

“good job today.” 

your mind came to a screeching halt at his praise. “i…what?” 

“you did well. i know how sudden it is to have one man down especially on monday mornings, but we coped! i can handle things until the afternoon shift comes, which is in about 30 minutes and…” 

jay listed out the different things that happened but all you could focus on was the cup in your hands and how warm you felt. you wanted to speak up to express your gratitude, but your voice got caught in your throat and the day’s exhaustion hit you full force. 

“hey, hey. it’s okay.” jay reached out to wipe your tears and you winced internally at how silly you were for crying over something inevitable. you slightly backed away, hastily brushing his hands away, “i’m sorry. i shouldn’t be crying.”

jay stared at you for a second, before a light-hearted chuckle escaped him. “you didn’t do anything wrong.” 

a smile touched his lips, “if anything i should be apologizing to you for not informing you beforehand.” 

you sniffled, “i just thought…i don’t know. i messed up and it was busy…i feel so bad i can’t do as much because i lack experience, unlike the other staff.” 

“don’t say that. you were doing so well.” grinning from ear to ear, he gave you a playful nudge, “you aren’t going to quit the cafe right? we need someone like you, plus doing shifts alongside you is fun, hectic or not.” 

you burst out laughing at the sudden change of emotions and you found yourself nodding, “yeah. i’m not planning to quit this part-time job anytime soon.” 

jay held up a finger, “wait a moment.” he dashed behind the counter and pushed a bagged pastry into your other hand. “take this and have a good rest, okay?” his words set your heart fluttering and you hesitantly nodded. 

“see you tomorrow, then.”

niki would be on his way home from practice or a really packed schedule, tired and sweaty, and you’d drop him a text such as this. niki grins stupidly at his phone, fingers flying across the screen to shoot back a witty response. 

niki: and if i dont ???

you: call me, i mean it dummy

niki doesn’t have the heart to make you worry further and does as he is told when he enters the dorms. he knows he has his hyungs to look after him, a whole manager team working round the clock to ensure their safety too, but things like this where it involves you? 

absolutely heart-fluttering.

probably a funny picture, or an inside joke. could be something cheesy niki said. nevertheless, hearing you say that also puts a smile on his face. he’s beaming, face all radiant as he rapidly responds to your previous texts. 

niki: you’re mad !! my joke wasn’t even that funny LOL

you: it’s just you because you make my days a lot brighter

small nuances like this and niki feels like he’s falling deeper in love with you. he sends a picture of himself, a testament of how much he was giggling at the mere fact you brought him this much happiness.

“Do you only come here just to sleep?” Kevin raised an eyebrow (knowing full well your eyes were closed) as you snuggled closer to his side and his arms instinctively wrapped tighter around your shoulders. 

“We’re not even halfway through the movie.” 

When you gave a huff in response, Kevin jokingly rolled his eyes, “I’m starting to wonder if you’re dating me or the bed. You sleepy bear.” You half-heartedly punched his shoulder, before kissing the same spot, causing him to chuckle at your antics. 

“‘M not sleepy, just…it’s comfortable around you…” Kevin gently patted the back of your head, watching as your chest rose and fell steadily beside him. Reaching out with his right hand, he tucked the blanket securely around you, a smile on his lips mirroring yours. 

“Okay, okay. We’ll finish this some other day.” Kevin relented, adjusting both your bodies so that he was holding you flushed against his chest. Staring at your peaceful form for a bit more, he leaned towards you, peppering kisses all over your face. 

“I’m glad to be your safe space.”

not that you’re upset or mad of course

just the fact that you love him so much to the point where you’d feel jealous of someone else y’know

being the good boyfriend he is though, he always makes sure that anything you don’t like doesn’t get very far

heeseung is playing some competitive multiplayer game on the computer

valorant or something (ew)

meanwhile you’re relaxing on his bed eating popcorn and scrolling through disney+ trying to figure out which princess movie to re-watch

heeseung has his mic off, but you can both still hear his teammates communicating and yelling call outs to each other

but the thing is these are just random people he’s playing with

so when he unmutes to tell his team his current position, you listen carefully to what they say

listen, you’re a bit overprotective

in your defence that’s your man and if they say anything mean to him they’re dead to you and you’ll probably figure out some way to get them banned

however you’re even more taken aback when one of the girls on his team goes “damn, whoever’s playing reyna (heeseung would be a reyna main fight me), your voice is hot as fuck.”

you whip your head towards heeseung, narrowing your eyes at the screen threateningly as if the random player could see you

heeseung being the curious, cocky mf he is has to turn around just to see your pouting expression

this idiot even giggles before finally unmuting to respond

“thanks, but i’m taken.”

the girl laughs, “yeah? do they play? they should 1v1 me. winner gets you.”

your jaw drops in disbelief, and heeseung looks at you again, eyes widened

“uh, no thanks. they don’t play anyway.”

you desperately want to walk over there and yell some sense into the girl, but you calmly stay planted to your spot on the bed

“hm, that’s too bad i guess.” she replies

as soon as the game ends, you begin whining, forcing heeseung to teach you everything about valorant

he tries to reassure you, letting you know that he already blocked the player for good and that he was all yours

but forget disney princess movies.

you swear on your life you will get all the way to platinum just to find that girl and fight her to the death

heeseung only laughs, shaking his head as you begin watching “top 10 tips for valorant beginners” on the tv

you guys are out on a date and decide to chill at this small cafe for lunch

everythings going great, you take some amazing pictures of jay looking all boyfriend material as usual

when your waitress comes to take your order

she’s very pretty, and seems to be around the same age as you and jay, which is all cool

until you realize she’s just staring right at your boyfriend and is completely ignoring your existence

“hey there, can i get you started with a drink?” she smiles, continuing to only look at him

you roll your eyes, deciding to just focus on the menu as your mood has been soured

jay politely orders a water, as the waiter proceeds to start writing on her notepad for about five seconds before finally turning to you

her smile visibly drops, suddenly looking bored

“and for you?”

“just a water as well, please.”

this time, she only nods slightly before walking off into the back

you scowl and turn to jay, “so she has to write down your cup of water, because, for some reason she can’t just remember that, but not mine?”

jay sighs, “i know, just try to ignore her babe.”

the waitress quickly returns, and you can’t help but notice her new, bright red lipstick. you barely contain your scoff, watching her take out her notepad once again before smiling at jay

listen you knew he was handsome, but could she not see you right there

“what can i get for your lunch, sir?”

in the middle of ordering, jay notices your upset expression

he would never allow you to be frowning in front of him, especially on a date

while continuing to tell the women what he wants, he reaches over, intertwining your fingers through his

“is something the matter?” jay immediately asks

she looks back at him quickly, smiling, “oh, of course not, sir!”

“great, my partner is ready to order whenever you are.”
