Jungwoo nervously drummed his fingers on the table, his focus on his textbook long gone. Where were you? You ended work an hour ago and you should have been home 15 minutes ago. His eyes darted to his phone, 11.45 pm illuminating against the black screen. Chewing on his lower lip, he decided that his textbook on “How to Care for a Stroke Patient” was not going to make him feel any less jittery. 

He had sent 10 messages and dialed you 5 times. None of them were read or picked-up and that had him worried. It wasn’t like you to not do so, as you would drop him 3 texts that were greatly assuring: 1. You were done with work; 2. You got on the bus; 3. You got off the bus. The last message from you was that you’ve reached work and you wished Jungwoo a nice evening ahead. He fidgeted with his phone, wondering if anything happened. 

Sighing, he glanced at the door again. The clock showed 11:58 pm and that was when the full-fledged fear struck him hard. Picking up his house keys, his gut instincts were telling him to find you and that you might be injured. He grabbed a brown cardigan lying beside him and shrugged it on. Heart beating erratically, he gripped onto his phone and got up from the chair he was seated on. 

Just as he did that, the door burst open, revealing a mildly flushed you. Jungwoo immediately wrapped you in a tight hug, “You scared me! How could you not reply to any of my text messages or my calls?” He pulled away, stroking your head, “Are you okay? Did you injure yourself or anything?” 

“Firsty, my phone died and because I lent you my portable I wasn’t able to charge my phone. Secondly, I am okay. I just ended work later than I thought. There were a lot of make-up products being shipped today and I was helping to unload them. Thirdly, no I’m not injured or anything.” You assured him, cupping his face in your hands. “But you looked like you were running.” 

“I was speed walking from the bus stop because I knew you’d be worried. And I can totally tell you’re about to leave the house.” You pointed at his cardigan and he cocked his head to the side, “And you know that I’m worried right? It’s so late at night and you are travelling alone!” 

“I told you I’m okay! I have a black belt in Taekwondo!”
