Alicent, silently crying: what happened to the girl that wanted to fly me across the Narrow Sea and eat cake? Rhaenyra, suddenly looking more tired than anyone has seen her: I honestly wish I knew Ali, I honestly wish I knew.

As much as I love this dialogue, I can’t see Alicent crying in front of Rhaenyra, not because she can't but it's more of a power move. Like she won’t “lose” by letting Rhaenyra see her at her worst.

And the worst part about it is that they can't do anything about it. They already tried to defy her and they lost the war they waged, and can do nothing as she goes on to completely split the family for good as the consequence of them going against her.

Fair point. Still, you mentioned Rhaenyra being smug in their first interaction where she gets everything she wants. How smug are we talking here? And how much worse do you imagine Alicent is thinking of as you mentioned?

She would be as smug as I mentioned in the other ask (mocking them about they thought they could escape). Alicent is definitely thinking about her children and brother (if they’re alive) and what Rhaenyra could do to them, in her mind imprisonment, torture, or death are very possible for them.

So at that point, Rhaenyra would truly be beyond caring how this is affecting them all?

I honestly wouldn’t know because again there are factors to consider like how long the war has been going on and if they have actively fought on their dragons. Rhaenyra as a character would be capable of completing discarding them but that’s if she’s been pushed to that point
