unappreciated canon fact

Yang loves books and stories too

we hear in 1x03 that Ruby gets her love of books and fairytales from Yang having read her stories while they were growing up, but the focus there is on Ruby so the fact that Yang was the one reading to her is kind of overlooked (it’s not treated like a chore or something she had to do, even with their backstory of Yang being the one holding everything together as a child for god knows how long, and Yang only butts in when Ruby’s done talking to say how proud she is of her)

but in 1x11, when we hear Nora recounting one of her bizarre dreams, we have Yang looking totally enthralled by the story

and later in 3x12, when we get to see their family home and shared bedroom, one of the only notable features on Yang’s side of the room is the books on the shelves of her desk

Yang is never demonstrated to have a dislike for books (outside one single comment in 1x03 in regards to the subject matter of Blake’s book, which wasn’t exactly pleasant sounding) but for some reason in fanworks she’s always portrayed as the Book Dumb one who hates reading and gets bored and whiny when everyone else is reading which has no basis in canon
