yoongi mentioned yesterday that he was in the mood for dessert which is honestly suCh a rarity so of course you had to jump at the opportunity to return to the ice cream parlour that is now yours and yoongi’s special lil place

the last time you were here you had the cinnamon toast crunch flavour which was reaLLy good but you wanna branch out and try something different

“This is completely pointless.”

“It definitely has a point.”

“I don’t want to do it.”

“Funny - I don’t recall asking.”

If looks could kill, your manager, Kim Namjoon, would be knocking on the pearly gates.

“I’m not a babysitter.”

“Noted.”

“And I really don’t want to do this.”

“Previously noted. And it still doesn’t matter. You’re doing it and that’s final. Every idol under Dionysia Entertainment - including you - signed a contract agreeing to the mentorship.”

“But he’s a child-”

Namjoon massaged his temple, already tiring of your familiar dramatics.

“He’s twenty-three. Barely 3 years your junior.”

You snorted, turning to the large screen in the corner of the room where a young man with large, impossibly beautiful eyes danced to the number one song in the county - his song.

“Jeon Jungkook is nothing more than another one of your cookie-cutter pretty boys. Dionysia practically has a farm of them. I have no interest-“

“Jeon Jungkook is not like the others. The kid is talented - really talented. He has the makings of a true idol. That’s where you come in... Pairing with him will bring positive press for both of you.”

“Can’t I just write him a nice inspiring note? Must I endure this farcical reality show?”

“You’ve built your career on those farcical reality shows. Now it’s time to give back. Season 7 of ‘The Mentor’ begins filming in three days, and you will be mentoring Jeon Jungkook.”

Namjoon could practically see the steam pouring out of your ears. He grinned.

“You know... he admitted in a interview earlier this month that you were his biggest celebrity crush growing up.”

Your eyes widened indignantly. “I am not even 26 years-old. How could he possibly-”

“He was 14 when you debuted as the maknae of DreamCast. Apparently he hung your poster right over his bed.”

“I suppose he mentioned that in the interview as well?”

“He did actually,” Namjoon chuckled. “No doubt you featured prominently in his adolescent fantasies. Who knows how many times he-“

Your ceramic coffee mug slammed down hard on the table, cutting off the lewd declaration before he could fully voice it.

“Are we done?”

Namjoon was coming up on four years as your manager, but he’d been your friend for far longer... You had clearly reached your limit for the day.

“Report to Studio A tomorrow at noon,” he sighed. “You’ll need extensive prep before the live show and the producers want you to spend some time with Jungkook before you ‘meet’ him on camera...” he paused momentarily to gauge your reaction, but your face remained stubbornly neutral. “Any questions?”

“How bad would it be if I faked my own death between now and tomorrow at noon?”

“I will take that as a no.”

“... Tomorrow at noon? We will definitely be there. Thank you, sir. I- ... oh - uh yes - I - I would love to meet your daughter, sir... Of course... No, thank you, sir.”

Kim Seokjin hung up the office phone and buried his head in his hands.

“That sounded like an interesting conversation.”

Jeon Jungkook leaned his chair back on two legs, idly tossing a miniature basketball into the air. Jin glared at him through his fingers.

“I hope you understand the gravity of the opportunity I’m about to present you with, because it looks like I may have just bartered my virginity away for it.”

“Your virginity!?” Jungkook snorted. “I hope they know it’s used.”

“Your mentor for the show is DreamCast’s maknae.”

The ball hit Jungkook in the face and both he and the chair crashed noisily to the floor.

Your eyes did not seek him out, but every other sense stretched toward him with painful intensity.

“I should,” he shot back sharply, not bothering to hide the bitterness in his voice, “I should want someone else.”

“No,” you wheezed tightly (seething with equal parts embarrassment and agony). “I think I might have broken something-”

The next words burned in your throat, but they had to be said. 

“You …may need to carry me.”
