The mansion was silent on this Wednesday morning. Not a noise to be heard as Jeongguk pads down the right staircase of the large home. His sleep laden eyes drift to the brand new door before yawning loudly. His hand coming up to scratch at his bare tattooed chest as he makes his way through the sitting room. The perfectly white marble countertop of the island gives him a place to lean as he runs his hands through his black hair. He drank way too much yesterday with Taehyung to celebrate the birth of his new son. 

Everyone was finding love around him, starting families and here he was still a bachelor since his girlfriend Lee was murdered. He could sometimes still picture her, her black hair blowing in the breeze in the garden. Or, the way she used to wrinkle her nose at everything, a habit Guk had adopted from her. He sighs to himself before shoving off of the counter as he rounds the island to the liquor cabinet. Sometimes Lee visits him in his dreams, begging him to move on, to experience happiness like the others in his gang. But, how could he? He has this warped mind that only knows how to torture and kill. After she was gone there was no love, no yearning. He smiles, sure, at his nieces and nephews. He finds happiness in others’ happiness but never his own.

The air is crisp and the plants coloured cool around you, but you’re not cold.

You recognise this clearing you’re in, but not from the waking world. No, you recognise it because just as it is right now, it has been the set of your dreamscape before. So it’s familiar, as you gaze upon it, but at the same time something tingles under your skin in anticipation of the unknown that the shadows hold just beyond the treeline.

It must be early morning, you think to yourself, as you allow your gaze to slip to the sky. It’s just fading out of the darkened caress of the night as you look upon it, tinting lighter with each breath you take. You love mornings, you recall with familiarity– you especially love mornings like this.

There’s a slight mist in the air. You don’t notice it until you direct you gaze back down to the dewy earth, eyes captured by each patch of wildflowers and blotch of colour. It feels almost magical, really, but for some reason… that isn’t the tone of this moment.

You don’t know what it is, but something curls in your stomach a little like anticipation. What are you waiting for? You know you’ve seen this place before, but you can’t remember when, or why…

At some point you’ve taken a seat in the meadow, and while a part of you expects dampness to seep into your skin, you remain safe and dry. It’s comfortable. This is the nicest dream you’ve ever dreamt, a distant part of you surmises. You’re just running your hands through the silky blades of grass and watching the dewdrops collect on your skin when a soft snap sounds far to your left.

You probably should be alarmed, but when you look up it’s only in curiosity. What you see, again, should be cause for alarm– but for some reason, the sight of the great, hulking wolf lingering at the edge of the treeline doesn’t cause you anything but a flutter in your stomach.

It was midnight on the coldest day of the year when you had seen him. Your feet crunched on the fresh layer of snow underfoot as you walked toward your apartment. The wind was harsh, shoving you back and halting your progression towards the building only a few blocks away. You folded your arms, keeping your limbs closer to your body as if it was going to instantly warm you. The frigid cold licked at your face and neck, nose turning pink and eyes watering at the cold you try to power through. The streets were quiet, just the breeze sang through small cracks and alleys between buildings.

You pushed through the cold, slowly starting to freeze into a popsicle before the snow in the street began to brighten from lights. Snow crutched from car tires and even through the frigid temperatures you turned your head to the only car on the street. The car slowed down, giving you the perfect opportunity to catch the Bentley hood ornament. The window rolled down at a slow pace. Grey hair caught your attention first, you barely registered how your teeth began to clack together. Small but sharp eyes came next, they seemed to be surveying you. His mouth was revealed shortly after, his lips quirked into a smirk as he tilted his head. 

“Chilly, princess?” Your mouth opened at his audacity before quickly closing as the bitter chill invades the enamel of your teeth freezing you to the bone.

“My Holly, what’s wrong?” Yoongi’s mother walks around the wall divider as she watches her son hold his poodle. Yoongi touches Holly’s leg and he gives a short bark of pain before whimpering. Yoongi glances up at his mother with a frown. 

“I’m going to take him to the veterinarian.” Yoongi says setting Holly down gently and grabbing his back face mask from the front zipper of his backpack. 

“Can I take your car?” Yoongi asks grabbing his mother’s car keys off of the key rack by the door. She gives a nod before pouting at Yoongi’s dog. 

“My Holly! What happened to you?” Holly whimpers before sitting down harshly on his butt. Yoongi grabs Holly’s red leash slinging it over his shoulder as he picks up his baby. 

“Come on my Holly. I’ll be back!” He calls to his mother as she walks back into the kitchen.
