+ pairing: hwang hyunjin x female reader + genre: fluff, friends to lovers, college!au + summary: A paintball game is a fun way to destress from classes and enjoy your time with your friends. However, Hyunjin has a different idea in mind.

"Yes!" Hyunjin jumped excitedly when discovering his team colour, "I'm on the blue team! What about you?"

You carefully opened the small envelope in your hand, a red card inside. You pouted at him.

"I guess I'm team red..."

"Well, let's get ready, then!"

All of you quickly got ready and after a few minutes, everyone was ready for the challenge. You got a briefing of how the game would work and your team got a strategy ready.

"Let's go!" you all placed your hands together and waited for the starting signal.

Initially, the game was quite peaceful and fun. You saw a couple of your friends being eliminated but you were still going strong. However, you got distracted for a while and felt someone push you aside to a hidden spot, your eyes widened in shock.

"Shh," Hyunjin whispered, looking around. "You're our team's next target," you started to slap him on the shoulder so he could let you go. "I am trying to help you, Y/N."

That was a lie and you knew it. You could tell as his eyes glanced at you, a half-smile on his lips. You felt your heartbeat increase, your cheeks becoming warmer and warmer the more you looked at him. You didn't know where to focus. The game that was happening no longer mattered to you.

"I'm gonna hit you," you warned him, with the last sense of awareness you had. "I can eliminate you right here and-"

He kissed you. You shouldn't have been as surprised as you were when his arms wrapped around your waist and you pulled him closer. You had been longing for this for a long time and apparently, so did he.

"That won't be necessary," he told you after your lips parted ways, and you took some time to readjust.

Suddenly, you saw an explosion of blue ink in your vest and you looked at Hyunjin, shocked.

"You did not just kiss me to eliminate me, Hwang Hyunjin!"

Hyunjin laughed and slowly backed away from you, the victory he felt all over his face. Victory from winning the game or from kissing you?

"Game over, try again!" you heard the speaker and everyone in the blue team started to cheer in excitement and you rolled your eyes, unable to feel sad because of your team's loss.

After all, you and Hyunjin had kissed. That was better than winning a paintball game.

ACT I

“Checkmate!” Felix hollers, knocking your King down upon the chessboard.

“To hell with this game,” You huff, crossing your arms over your chest while slumping aback in the iron chair.

“To hell with your skills is what you should say,” He beams with pride, much like the sunlight beckoning over the lush yard. The very yard where you face your third defeat in a game of chess today to your dear freckled cousin. “To my success, the last bite of pudding is none other than mine!”

“Do not get so ahead of yourself, Lix. ‘Twas only a mere top of luck today.” You’d persist for a rematch, much like after the past losses, but your shoulders seem to sway of exhaustion. You are against having defeat as today’s closure, but you suppose allowing Felix to sit in victory for  once is not the end of the world. It is not like your mind will open a door for you to win anyway. It is fairly distracted with the doors you cannot even close from the beginning.

“It is usually you who claims the wins, and as one who often plays chess with you, your game lacked quite more than ever today. What has grabbed your dear mind’s focus?”

You do not utter a word in response, but, instead, shake your head to brush off the eager question.

“Ah! It is still the marriage, is it not?” The man clicks his tongue, as if he thought of the most brilliant, yet not obvious, answer.

“I now declare you man and wife.”

A wide smile spread across Hyunjin’s face and a small squeal left his throat as he stared at your beautiful figure. You looked absolutely breath taking. The white dress was tightly wrapped around your body, outlining your beautiful figure. Your silky hair was styled in a bun and a crystal crown rested on top of your head. Red gloss painted your lips, making your pale skin look even paler.

“I love you so much” Hyunjin whispered as he knelt in to kiss your lips. Pulling back after a while, he turned his head towards the audience.

“You’re proud of me right?” He asked as looked at the friends that were there to celebrate his moment of happiness with him. They didn’t speak. Instead they just stared back at him with a smile. Satisfied with their reaction, Hyunjin turned back to stare at you lovingly. You were the prettiest.

Hyunjin felt sad that you couldn’t talk, move or breathe anymore but he had no choice after all. He tried every means to get you to be with him but nothing seemed to work. You never acknowledged him and his love for you. So he put you to sleep. On the dark night when everyone was lost in their own dreams. Many tried to interfere. Tried to take you away from him. So he did the same to them. He made them his puppets. Now they all belonged to Hyunjin and did what Hyunjin wanted them to.

“Congratulations mate I’m so happy for you.” Hyunjin imitated Felix’s deep voice and thick Australian Accent while Felix himself sat on a chair, arms and legs nailed to it and lips sewn and stretched into a smile.

“Ahh Thank you so much bro glad you could be here with me on my special day.” Hyunjin’s alter ego spoke. One by one he imitated every one of his members, who looked and were put in the same way as felix was, congratulating and cheering for him.

Last but not least, he turned to you. His oh so beautiful Y/N. Your legs and arms were tied against a wooden board in order to put you in a standing position and your eye lids were sewn open so that you could look at him forever and ever.

“I love you Hyunjin”

Hyunjin imagined you smiling softly at him. A giggle left Hyunjin’s lips as he hugged your cold and lifeless, yet so warm and beautiful body.

“I love you too. Now and forever” He whispered. He had achieved everything he ever wanted in life. He had found heaven. A heaven painted from the blood of several naive souls.
