THIS MADE MY DAY
THIS MADE MY DAY
Finishing the Baccano! anime last night made me think of how cosplaying Claire/the Rail Tracer/Felix(/whatever other names he goes by that I’ve forgotten) makes me feel confident, and even… euphoric somehow? He’s such a fun and quirky character. He has an odd, chaotic positive energy–all the acrobatics he does, and the irony that he has the guts to be all “There’s no way I’m gonna die!” when he’s an (above-average) human being surrounded by other characters who are actually immortal. He’s smitten with the woman of his affection in a slightly obsessive and overbearing, yet strangely innocent and genuine way? Throw in some blood, action, and appreciation for trains in the spirit of Baccano! as a whole, and here you have this wildly entertaining character who lends himself perfectly to performing.
This is just a quick dance video from before quarantine started, but I’m hoping that once events start happening again, I’ll be able to bring this cosplay to cons and hopefully do a lipsync routine or two!

SO IT TOOK FOUR DAYS, A REDUCTION IN THE DIFFICULTY, AND MY LEFT KIDNY, BUT I BEAT IT.
Hi, atlus?
Why did you feel the need to make the Okumura boss fight a bitch.
Nobody:
Literally no one at all:
My brain at 11 pm last night: LOUIS THE RED DEER IS GORO AKECHI’S FURSONA. IN THIS ESSAY I WILL EXPLAIN...
The master flirting with the cyberium is the most underrated thing by far
The Doctor to Ashad: fuck you, bitch

The Master to Ashad: fuck me, bitch

And honestly they're both valid ✊😔
people who dismiss hamilton as “glorifying the founding fathers” are missing a key part of it: namely, the massive overarching theme of narrative, perspective, and history
i’ve written extensively on this in my spare time and i intend to continue this, but hamilton is, in part, a metatheatric commentary on the way history is taught and presented in the modern day. lin manuel-miranda has said that hamilton is “the story of america then, as told by america now”, and part of that is critically about historical erasure, about poc taking back their hand in american history that has so long been erased. hell, alexander hamilton himself was subject to much historical smearing and being forgotten, which is part of why miranda started writing the show to begin with.
HUGE parts of the show’s themes hinge on the concept of narrative and perspective. it asks you to reconsider your understanding of american history, and ultimately asks if you were paying attention to the show’s messages
glorification is the easy way out. while the show has issues, granted: any and all historical fiction is “problematic”, but seldom do they face the backlash hamilton does (the white queen, the tudors, the crown, etc...i haven’t seen anywhere NEAR the vitriol against them as against hamilton). however, it’s a damn good show, opening new pathways through mainstream musicals, bringing something fresh and fun to the broadway scene. and, unlike how literal actual history books portray the founding fathers, their casual sexism, slave ownership, hypocrisy, etc. is openly written into the show
TL;DR: unnuanced hamilton critiques that blanket it as “glorifying slavers”, without giving it due credit as a piece of historical fiction, are also missing a core part of it: that which makes meta commentary on narrative and history, and how they reconstruct “truth”
