On Wednesday 21st February 2024 the motion to call for a ceasefire was tabled and therefore never voted on by parliament. If you are a British citizen then please follow the link to email your MP about how wrong this is (just your name, email and postcode required) and if you are not then please reblog this post.
"I am one of your constituents, and am writing to ask you to press the government to support an immediate ceasefire and other measures to protect Palestinians who have so far survived Israel’s brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip, which have so far killed more than 29,000.
Over 100 Palestinians were killed across the Gaza Strip from Israeli shelling on the night of Wednesday 21 February – the majority of them being women and children. Whilst the UK parliament descended into shameful chaos over a vote that never came to be, Israel was dropping bombs on Rafah ahead of a looming ground offensive.
During the day on 21st February, thousands of constituents came to exercise their democratic right and peacefully lobby MPs in parliament. The unprecedented number of people queuing in the rain for hours to see their MP had a simple message to deliver: Support an unambiguous call for an immediate ceasefire now, as articulated in a motion tabled by the SNP.
The subsequent disgraceful display within parliament on 21st February reflects the UK’s overall response to Israel’s atrocities in Gaza. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has handed down an interim ruling affirming there is plausible evidence Israel is committing genocidal acts against the Palestinian people, yet our government is still selling weapons to Israel and has suspended funding to UNRWA, the primary agency supporting the needs of Palestinian refugees, including more than 1.5 million in Gaza.
The UK has an obligation to comply with the ICJ ordered provisional measures. This means taking action to end Israel’s war crimes and ensure humanitarian aid can reach Gaza. It is urgent for MPs to use their position to:
Call for a complete and immediate ceasefire in Gaza;
Press the UK government to immediately suspend all arms sales to Israel;
Demand the UK meets its obligations in relation to the ICJ’s provisional measures, including ensuring humanitarian aid reaches Gaza by reinstating funding to UNRWA.
Please show your commitment to these fundamental principles by signing EDM 377 ‘International Court of Justice Ruling on Gaza and the UK’s duties under the Genocide Convention’.
In recent days, some politicians and others in the media have suggested that for constituents to lobby their MP in relation to this important issue, in person or by email, constitutes improper behaviour or even harassment. I reject any such characterisation and I hope that you do too."

Emergency Lobby of Parliament
Related to my last post, if you can please go and lobby at Parliament anytime between 11:30am-4pm on Wednesday 21st February 2024 then please enter your postcode at this link to register to join the lobby and receive further instructions to guide you through the process of lobbying. Anyone can go and pressure their MP to vote for a Ceasefire, regardless of political expertise.

URGENT: Please email your MPs using the above link, you just need your name, address and postcode. Pressure the UK to vote for a Ceasefire. If you are not a British citizen please share this.
"On Wednesday 21st February, parliament will vote on whether or not to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. There is no acceptable excuse for MPs to do anything but vote in favour of this. The ongoing slaughter in Gaza is insufferable. As your constituent, I remind you that we are in an election year - and that the public are closely monitoring how MPs will vote on Wednesday. This is an issue close to the heart of the electorate, and I urge you and your colleagues to do everything in your power to end Israel's massacre of Palestinians. Well over 28,000 Palestinians have now been killed - almost half of them children. The entire population is living with crisis-level hunger. Over 70% of buildings and infrastructure has been destroyed. The International Court of Justice has ruled there's a plausible case that Israel is committing a genocide against Palestinians, and has ordered legally binding provisional measures to stop the killing and ensure humanitarian assistance is provided. Third states - such as the UK - have a legal obligation to uphold these orders. This can only be achieved by supporting an immediate and permanent ceasefire now, which I ask you to vote for on Wednesday. Shamefully, the position of the UK has instead been to continue supplying Israel with weapons - in clear contravention of its own Strategic Export Licensing Criteria given that the highest court in the world has ruled there's plausible evidence Israel is committing genocide. The government has also chosen to suspend funding to UNRWA, the principle international agency providing humanitarian aid and upholding the rights of Palestinian refugees. This couldn't be more urgent. I ask you to take immediate action by:
Voting for an immediate ceasefire on Wednesday 21st February, and against any amendments that seek to water down this urgent demand.
Calling on the government to suspend all arms sales to Israel, and begin steps to end the bilateral arms trade.
Demanding the government reinstates funding to UNRWA, and increases UK aid to Gaza.
I would appreciate a response on how you will vote on Wednesday."

URGENT: Please email your MPs using the above link, you just need your name and postcode. Pressure the UK to stop arming Israel. If you are not a British citizen please share this.
"I’m writing as a constituent to ask you to join parliamentary calls for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza by signing EDM 1, and for the UK to stop arming Israel by signing the newly tabled EDM 177.
On Tuesday 12th December at 2.30pm there will be a Westminster Hall debate on the UK’s arms trade with Israel – this is an opportunity for parliamentarians to demand the government ends its complicity in supplying Israel with the weapons and military equipment used to kill and repress Palestinians. This includes in the ongoing bombing of the Gaza Strip, which has so far killed over 16,000 Palestinians – 40% of whom are children. Please attend and speak at Tuesday’s debate.
Over 80% of the population of Gaza has now been displaced. More than half of all homes have been destroyed, and there are only 14 hospitals out of 36 that are even partially functional. Nowhere in Gaza is safe. There is no effective protection for civilians, and meaningful humanitarian operations are impossible under the current conditions. International scholars and Palestinian human rights organisations have been warning of the possibility of genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The sheer number of civilian deaths, the targeting of hospitals and civilian infrastructure, and tactics such as using white phosphorus, can leave no doubt that war crimes are being committed. The only way for this to stop is with a full ceasefire now, and for the UK to stop arming Israel. Over quarter of a million people have signed a parliamentary petition calling for a ceasefire, and an end to Israeli occupation. This petition has triggered a Westminster Hall debate on Monday 11th December at 4.30pm. Thousands more, from a diverse and broad demographic, have peacefully demonstrated in our streets calling for a ceasefire now. Please reflect the 76% of the public who want a ceasefire by making this demand during the Westminster Hall debate on Monday. The UK has a responsibility to uphold international law and prevent war crimes taking place, which includes by not providing the weapons and equipment used for committing those crimes. Before the current atrocities in Gaza, Palestinians have long document how Israel uses its military to imposes a system of apartheid – a crime against humanity – across all the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel. Forensic documentation from organisations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, UN experts, and the Israeli organisation B’Tselem, provide overwhelming evidence that this is the case. The UK is deeply complicit in these crimes against Palestinians through our ongoing arms trade. This must end. Since 2015, the UK has approved the export of over £474 million worth of arms to Israeli forces. This includes licences covering components for military aircraft, helicopters, drones, bombs, missiles, military technology, armoured vehicles, tanks, ammunition and small arms. The true figure of UK military support is actually far higher. This is because the figure published by the government doesn’t include open licences, whereby the transfer of unlimited quantities of listed military items are authorised, with no requirement to report what is transferred. An example of this is the UK’s significant contribution to the US F-35 combat aircraft which are currently being used by Israel to bombard Gaza. The Strategic Export Licensing Criteria, under which all arms exports are assessed, states that export licences should not be issued if the government “determines” that there is a “clear risk” arms exports might be used in a “serious violation of international humanitarian law”. Despite longstanding concerns that UK-supplied arms and components have been used in violations of international law, exports to Israel continue. By licensing the export of weapons to Israel, likely to be used in its violations of international law, the government is breaking its international obligations - including those in the Arms Trade Treaty (Article 6) and the Geneva Conventions. The UK is fuelling Israel’s militarised violence against Palestinians through our arms trade. The only acceptable response to the catastrophe in Gaza right now is for parliamentarians to call for a ceasefire – as has been urged by UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Please use your voice in the debates this week to call for a permanent ceasefire and for the UK to stop arming Israel. Please also register your support for these demands by signing EDM 1 and the newly tabled EDM 177."

🚨 Did you know you can call for ceasefire in Gaza by calling in sick this upcoming Monday?

Esral Shikh has organised a worldwide campaign to call for a permanent ceasefire in gaza. Here are the details:
Total Strike on Monday, 11 Dec 2023.
It is necessary to paralyse the movement of life and the economic wheel in all countries so everyone feels directly affected by the genocide happening in Gaza.
Start making communications, spreading the word, mobilise your communities.
This strike includes transportation, aviation, trade, banks, ports, and even schools and universities.
Here’s how you can join the strike:
Don't buy anything (cash or online)
Don't use your bank account, and don't make any transaction
Don't leave your house
Deactivate your Facebook accounts (you can reactivate them later)—please make sure to follow the palestinians on other social media platforms to keep updated on their posts
Leave 1-star reviews on Instagram, Whatsapp, and Facebook on your app store and play store for silencing pro-palestinian voices and supporting genocide.
I would also suggest to not stream anything for the whole day (incl spotify, netflix, youtube, hulu, paramount, amazon prime, etc)
Tweet using the hashtag #StrikeForGaza
[For US citizens] sign your strike card as well
Do all these things together for maximum pressure

We are protesting but our protests are going largely unnoticed by the people in power, so we need to increase pressure.
Stop all operations on a working day, let the world feel even a fraction of what it’s like to have your life put on hold. It’s only a day. We can do this. If we mobilise and get people together who support this cause, we can make this happen.
17,400+ people have been killed. 7,000+ of which are children. 1.9M people have been displaced. Please. You owe it to them to speak up. Please stop this. Please call for permanent ceasefire.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!!
It is short notice for some places, I apologise for that. These posts only just started circulating and showing up. Regardless, doesn’t hurt to try.
ATTENTION ALL GIRLS AND LADIES: if you walk from home, school, office or anywhere and you are alone and you come across a little boy crying holding a piece of paper with an address on it, DO NOT TAKE HIM THERE! take him straight to the police station for this is the new 'gang' way of rape. The incident is getting worse. Warn your families. Reblog this so this message can get accross to everyone.
For my followers living in the UK—it is extremely likely that members of parliament will convene on Wednesday, November 15th, to vote once and for all for whether or not the UK should join the majority of the world's states and vote for a ceasefire to protect the citizens of Gaza.
This is historic. The UK is one of the most powerful nations in the world and on the UN council, and it is one of the few that had been staunchly opposing a ceasefire for the past month. If the UK supports a ceasefire, it would go a long way in securing peace and dignity for the Palestinians.
Please, please write to you MP and demand that they support the ceasefire. Organisations are asking people to implement the idea of "No Ceasefire, No Vote"—let those in power (especially MPs who may not support the idea) know that they will not be voted for in the coming elections if they stand against this.
This is a link that sends the email for you. It takes less than a minute. If you would like to edit it to add your own reasons, do that. And if you're not British, share the hell out of this post.
Free Palestine!
