We did it, folks! The Candy Hearts Challenge has once again drawn to a close and brought to us over 50 wonderful Wolfstar works! I want to thank everyone who took part in this fest with me. Running it is one of my favourite things to do in the Wolfstar fandom.

Her Loss

People expect her suffering to be beautiful,  like death floats in on gossamer wings and she mourns  by a windowsill, her tears few and far between, meaningful like diamonds, even her grief must be free of flaws,  her loss becomes a sacrifice, an inspiration, afterwards  she will volunteer at a soup kitchen, run a marathon, become a doctor, a therapist, a silent wife. She finds herself  in the quiet, she is always lurking in the dark, every gentle word she speaks feels like screaming into an empty hallway, she bites her tongue until it bleeds and everyone calls her  strong.

This is a WIP for a prompt I got in November quite a while back that I've been writing slowly over the last few weeks lol. I just don't really know where I want it to go? I like what I put down and I don't want to change it but I also don't know what should happen next 😂 Anyway enjoy:

When you ask me if I have fallen out of love with you

I say no,

I say of course not,

because how could I have fallen out of love with you when I still find your hairs between the pages of my poetry, your fingertips in the dust of my window frame.

You are everything wild and breakable,

a bloody heart beating raw in my hands.

When people ask how I am doing I want to say 

i think i will spend the rest of my life in a flinch. on the edge of a precipice. counting all the almosts and shivering in the silent air where your name echoes like a gunshot.
