Also A Quick Note To Say That Generally Irish People Think Of Irish Pipes As Uilleann Pipes Or I Guess
Also a quick note to say that generally Irish people think of Irish pipes as Uilleann pipes or I guess elbow pipes? We don’t call them bagpipes as they’re generally thought of as the Scottish pipes, and Scotland is associated with their pipes to a greater degree imo so yeah bagpipes make us think Scotland. I know in trc when they visit Thr Barns we’re told about a set of bagpipes in the corner, but either this is because of the fact that this chapter isn’t written from Ronan’s perspective, and so we’re getting a skewed cultural understanding of what the Uilleann/elbow pipes are, or Maggie doesn’t realise this. But yeah it just looks weird when people talk about bagpipes as an Irish instrument, even though it may be technically true, we just don’t refer to them as that most of the time.

can you imagine Andrew coming back from reliving weeks of abuse with Proust and one of the first things he sees is Neil waiting for him with his eyes and part of his face bruised and with medical tape on his cheek and when they get to the car, Neil wincing when he has to bend to get inside and sit and then flinching when Nicky grabs his wrist and it’s a feeling he knows all too well and off of his meds, he starts to realize he doesn’t just care about Neil because it’s convenient, he cares because Neil is the only thing that makes him feel alive, and the fact that the only thing that makes him feel at all again cannot take a single step without clenching his teeth in pain, the fact that the only thing that makes his life worth something was nearly taken away from him because of him and, most importantly, for him makes Andrew realize that no matter how beaten up Neil comes back to him, Neil will always come back, and Andrew will always be waiting for him
howdy friends - sorry i’ve been so low on the content of late, i’ve just moved country and started a new job but soon SOON i will have time to think again
andrew, gesturing at the ravens: look at all these chickens
so due to the fact that i am ridiculously busy at the moment i am completely out of touch - could someone lemme know what the deal is with getting the opal short story via legal means as a European? thanks xo
I'm French and Irish living in the US and my Irish grandfather once listened to me read aloud some stage Irish BS headcanons for Ronan and other characters (just general things a lot of them have) and he went on a huge rant, I'm so glad this blog exists so we don't have to deal with that anymore... hopefully
Hahahahaha this give me LIFE oh my god - i do this constantly too, i am both you and your grandfather. What are your/his top pet peeves? 💖 Honestly I cannot deal with some of the absolute ridiculousness that people have been conditioned to think about contemporary Ireland or Ireland in general, the level of cringe is immeasurable. If only I had the sway to eradicate it from all Tumblr fandoms and the wider world of writing, so glad to hear that you think I’m making an impact. I live and dream. You’ve actually inspired me to create a tag for all my Irish content, so thanks so much for that! & thanks for messaging me in general, it’s so nice to vibe with someone on here =)
