Writing regex gives me such a rush, every time. I feel like an evil wizard conjuring a dastardly curse.

May I ask why you think AAVE is "funny as hell"

Probably because of the way I experience English language. Technically, it's my third language, and I've been learning it since kindergarten. The problem is - it was very sanitized, very cookie cutter academic British English, and it was contained exclusively in the confines of the classroom.

YouTube was getting big when I was in middle school. I couldn't bear to watch whatever the slavic sector was producing so I got really big into Markiplier, partially because he was easy possible to understand. Then I expanded to other (mostly white) youtubers, reddit, and eventually tumblr.

So really I've only recently started identifying what is AAvE and what isn't, and also actually hearing it firsthand from black people, not clumsily shoehorned by the whites. So it's pretty much just the novelty of it.

the increasing prioritization of independence over community is something that will never fail to piss me right the fuck off. you're seen as weak if you depend on your connections with other people to hold you up. give me a fucking break. as if it isn't biologically rooted within us to seek out community. not being able to depend on those around you is enough to drive anyone crazy and into a life of predominant solitude. it only keeps getting worse with time and self-licensed tiktok relationship gurus. you will get nowhere if you keep receding into yourself. you won't even have a self to recede into if you keep it up.
