"...Im Not Standing On Line At A Bookstore, Waiting For You To Sign My Copy Of Your Book. Come On, All
"...I’m not standing on line at a bookstore, waiting for you to sign my copy of your book. Come on, all it takes is you, and determination, self belief, and of course, the flame, which came from that first tiny spark.
Your pal,
Brian Jacques"
So if you don’t know, there’s this thing called NaNoWriMo, or national novel writing month. It’s a program that anyone can join where people try and write 50,000 words in a month, 1667 words per day. This can get quite exhausting so the website has a bunch of motivational resources, such as pep talks writen by a bunch of famous authors.
I was scrolling through these pep talks and I found one by Brian Jacques, written in 2008. Now the whole thing was really beautiful, it was about 5 paragraphs, but the last one...
“ You know, you’ll disappoint me, if in a few years time, I’m not standing in line at a bookstore, waiting for you to sign my copy of your book. Come on, all it take is you, and determination, self belief, and of course, the flame, which came from that first tiny spark.”
And now I’m depressed because what’s the point if he’s never going to come to my non existent book signing???

More Posts from Rose-of-redwall
I agree, what's not to like! I would also prefer if they were less drawn from stereotypes, but seeing as they exist, I support their life wholeheartedly. Even though they aren't good for our protagonists... they're fun little creatures!
Flitchaye!
Fascinating little pygmy weasels! Doncha know, pygmy subspecies of the Least Weasel are very much a thing in reality--two different subspecies in fact, one concentrated in North Asia, Siberia and the like, and the other living in Alaska and the Yukon. The common Weasel indeed has a great deal of variety by region.
I adore the idea and the look of the poor Flitchaye in the Redwall novels. Just wish it didn't come with the bizarre adventure-novel-trope-from-the-50s Orientalism and Jingoism stuff. Excitable little tiny weasels who fight mainly with herbal nonlethal bio-weapons and who dress up commando style, complete with little foxhole dens in the Mossflower tangle! What's not to like?
Hello, goodbeasts all! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sable Rose, nice to meet you!
This is a drawing of me based off the art of Laterose (who I have a similar name to, which is special <3)
My story takes place shortly after the events of High Rhulain, which is one of my favorite books. I simply love the cultures that everyone in that book got to meet, it's full of nice characters.
One day, I hope to go on adventures like those in the Redwall books, but I value my time in the Abbey just as much... after all, I've been here forever! I also like creating art of all sorts- but particularly fiber art, so there will be no shortage of such content on this blog.
In reality, I greatly enjoy the sense of community that Mr. Jacques filled the Redwall books with, it's one of my favorite parts of the story. Likewise, I am so grateful to be a part of the real-life Redwall community that I've found through my lovely friends here on the internet. Connections are important to me <3. These stories are a part of my life that I hold dear, and I'm so glad to meet you and share in their beauty!
Just for fun, this is a self-portrait of simpler quality that I also made. (Since creating my introduction, I have collected a multitude of portraits housed in my tags! Please, read on!)
I can be found here on Tumblr, of course, but if you would like some more Rose content I also reside on Instagram (but be warned, there is a large percentage of real-world content on my other social media platforms. I don't forget Redwall, though!)
On Tumblr, I have made some resources and archival works, I've tried to collect them under #the library. Another one of my projects is #queer redwall, and I put all of my things under the tag #rose of redwall. So, see the tags for more!
I hope you enjoy my profile, come rest with me <3 you're welcome to stay as long as you like.
Revengeeeee
i’m really REALLY thankful Tim Curry voiced Slagar in the cartoon because well. He has a great voice and two i can imagine slagar making this noise

Redwallers would love Christmas. All the good food and community they already have, but accented with twinkling lights and gift giving.
And because it's Redwall, I imagine all the gifts would be handmade. Some creatures have natural creative skills, others don't, but that doesn't matter--because everything made would be done with love and intention for the recipient.
Imagine, if you will--
Little Matti makes a replica of Martin's sword with little sticks. No one can tell what it is, but when Matthias opens it he tears up.
And little Matti is concerned over making his father's eyes water, so he climbs into his lap and tries to comfort him. Matthias just wraps his arms around his son, his big warm habit sleeves all but hiding little Matti from sight. The fireplace is warm and crackling, the candles are in the windows, frost melting around the light of the flame while snow falls outside. The room is filled with the scent of evergreen trees. Cornflower watches her husband and son embrace and has never felt such happiness. In her hands are some dried cornflowers Matti found earlier that year with Constance, which Mr. Churchmouse helped him press in an old volume from his library.
All the warlords who tried to take the Abbey in its history and who will try in the future will not find the hoards of treasure they desire, but every single creature in the Abbey knows they live with more riches than money could ever buy, and they feel it with extra poignancy in that moment.
Very Good Art in reference to my previous reblog featuring Ashleg
dear Netflix, if you get around to adapting Mossflower my only request is please please please give Ashleg a good design. actually, just hire me to do it. thanks
