Maybe In A Parallel Universe, There Is Us Lying Together At Night In The Middle Of Nowhere, Watching

Maybe in a parallel universe, there is us lying together at night in the middle of nowhere, watching those shooting stars, laughing at some ridiculous joke only the two of us get.

maybe there is us in the middle of the sea, on a ship, safe and sound, having met by the bow some years ago, and sworn to never leave until we sail another

maybe there is us fighting on a highway road, when everything turns to grey, and the world grants a healing charm to our wounds when we kiss

maybe there is us skating on the ice rink, holding dear into life as our laughters warm the cold huffs of breath we can barely let out, and our feet click a thousand times to slip and fall into place

maybe there is us now, thinking about the same thing in two different places, not even knowing if any of our versions finally made it

in a parallel universe, maybe you'd be my first

and still the stars are the only looker-on in every single one

“An act of "prince charming" you know, that's what I do” he notes, slowly letting the devious grin hanging below the corners of his mouth out, while a sinuous wink escapes his hazels on his way back to the stop.

she's left by the mere reverberation of his footsteps and the lilac swirling smoke of his cigarette.

I just like to romanticize the night

the way it embraces me, like it's telling me something only I can comprehend

and each star there to ignite my thoughts into some prideful reverie

composing this sweet lullaby that warms my heart through each beat

reminding me of why I'm here

that there's no such thing as coincidence

and that everything happens for a reason

the same reason I'm staring into the wild darkness

feeling a million things at once

pain, relief, elation, anger, ecstasy

all falling into a trance of soft whispers

this, is why I love the night

because I feel like it keeps the whole world's secrets

and because there could be another me now, laying the same way, talking to the same stars, telling a whole other story

it never stops

not until all those breaths stop flowing

we write down the things we wish to forget but deep inside want to always have it on our minds

it's like that coat with all buttons undone except one that's holding it together

memories come and go, just like people, but there's that one person that carved a new means of remembrance in your heart, and stole something you wish you knew but you don't

him, and him, and the sea

the sky, his lips, and trembling bones underneath

everything seemed inert while this love we never had the chance to effectuate just collapsed

but I still have it in there, the void you left.

one of the many memories I held together like buttons in that coat

I'm colorblind to the euphemism of this scene we're playing

fast-forward and it's us on that misty red rug tugged beneath the couch we built together

moving feet to feet and only the friction sounds of our toes are to remind us we're still breathing

safe and sound, smiling like it's the last day we'll ever see each other on earth

cause we once made a promise to collide in heaven

dances, dances, flashes

high-pitched, stifled screams

all the while you're there

drawing me closer than possible

lying behind the wall of my dreams that slowly faded into reality

"They haven't invented words for that yet"

: the one time you discover a new sense you never thought existed through a person that never did.

“they say it's always in the words

but they're lost

just like you are, between those lines

minutes, hours, days, weeks, and through to decades of longing for

the one thing that no more belongs

blindly aching to elicit

a lifetime of rewind

even time ceased to keep you in, how could my mind ever do?”

One minute I held the key,

next the walls were closed on me

and I discovered that my castles stand

upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

One Minute I Held The Key,
