Oh my fucking god

This Is How You Win the Time War

Tim woke up to find Red Hood standing in his bedroom.

This wasn't much of a surprise. It had been a year since Hood tried to kill Tim, a little less than a year since he and Bruce had the confrontation that left Bruce grim and withdrawn -- well, more grim and withdrawn than usual. In that time, Hood had made a name for himself in the criminal underworld. Tim wasn't sure whether he believed the stories of heads in a duffel bag, but clearly a lot of people did, and Red Hood had to be intimidating enough for that kind of legend to seem plausible.

Logic dictated that it was only a matter of time before he tried to add Tim's head to his collection. They had unfinished business, after all.

Tim had just started to scramble up into a defensive position -- alone in Drake Manor, in his pajamas, no weapon close at hand -- when Hood said, "Identification. Imbroglio. Phasotherapy. Farinaceous."

The word sequence made Tim freeze, awkwardly crouched on the bed in his boxers and t-shirt. He stared at Red Hood, who was not actually wearing his helmet right now. Nor a domino mask. He stood in the doorway to Tim's room and stared back at him.

Finally Tim gathered himself enough to ask, "Metaplasia?"

"Nope," Hood answered. "Or, 'laundulet' or whatever. It's really me."

"And you're in a time loop." Tim eased down into a crouch, not quite ready to relax. "I'm going to assume I taught you those code words -- "

" -- in a previous loop," they said together.

"Yeah," Hood said and then he -- his scarred face broke into a grin and he -- he strode across the room, sending Tim backwards, trying to go up the wall like a spooked cockroach, except Hood caught him and pulled him forward into a. Hug.

"I love you so much," Hood rasped, ignoring Tim's hands around his throat. "You little weirdo, I love you so much. You're the only one who prepared for this."

just. Everything.

Prompt:

Tim is the first to find out the Red Hood’s identity and from then on sticks to Jason during patrol like glue (much to Jason’s chagrin, dammit, it would feel wrong to beat up Robin when he’s that starry eyed…)

Cue: PANIC from the rest of the Batfamily, who still think Hood is a forty-something year old crime lord and now assume they’re dating.

Gif of Kim Dokja from Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint standing in the middle of the screen as members of Kim Dokja's Company walk on screen to meet him. Shin Yoosung and Lee Gilyoung pull him down to kiss his cheeks, Lee Hyunsung hugs him, Jung Heewon kisses the back of his hand, Lee Jihye crashes into him for a back hug, Yoo Sangah kisses his forehead, Han Sooyoung kisses him on the lips before shoving her lemon lollipop in his mouth, and Yoo Joonghyuk removes the lollipop before also kissing him on the lips. Dokja appears dumfounded by all the love and attention he is receiving.

happy kdj appreciation day!!!

thinking about werewolves and the concept of becoming a monster and discovering that something savage and uncontrollable exists within you and the potential that has to be a liberating narrative about growth and change and courage rather than a story about controlling and concealing it

listen like. people are totally entitled to their opinions and criticisms of the pjo show but. sometimes it’s just hard to hear/read. I know the show isn’t perfect but seeing the cast & producers talk about it and seeing the level of love and excitement theyve put into the work, idk, I feel for them having people tear it to shreds. criticising the author himself for not adapting it well when he’s doing something different with a new medium, saying they’re sorry for the kids who love the books but have to act in this “terrible” show as if these kids aren’t THRILLED by the opportunity and just so committed to giving the show their best.

(watch the behind the scenes documentary. seriously.)

again totally valid criticisms & opinions!! but you win some and lose some in an adaptation. eg. trying to expand on themes, keep a consistent tone, appeal to a broader audience (including those of us who loved the books as kids but are now!!! adults!!!), keep within budget, etc etc all these things involve some trade offs. sure some of the humour and goofiness has been lost but we also get amazing beautifully acted scenes that really expand on core themes of family or who is a monster etc etc.

speaking on a personal level I have had a hard time these past few months and this show became a genuine escape, a way for me to connect with my sister watching the episodes together, a rediscovery of my inner 12 year old who waited so long for this. and I know there are people who are like me and they had certain expectations and that’s why they’re disappointed and that’s so valid, but it’s a lot of negativity sometimes, & I just wish we could give a little grace bc making a creative thing is hard, and pleasing everyone with that creative thing is impossible, and most of all, maybe we could revel a little bit more in this unique complex piece of work that lots of people poured their hearts into with nothing but the best of intentions.
