I Just Found Out That The Spanish Batfam Community Calls Damian "bolita De Dio" Which Translates To Tiny
I just found out that the Spanish batfam community calls damian "bolita de ódio" which translates to tiny ball of hatred and I think that's beautiful

I love the posts that are like "Well this is very clearly the canon but y'all are So Desperate to ignore canon and warp it to whatever fantasy you have for these characters." Like yeah. That's what fandom is. That's what most fan-fiction is built around. The DC fandom specifically is basically built on picking and choosing which comics you personally feel in your heart are canon. That's the fun of it. "Y'all love to ignore some things just to make your character dynamics work." Yes. Yeah that's the point. Correct.
The bats have an entire group chat dedicated to keeping Tim from becoming a super villain.
At first they weren’t too concerned. Sure Tim was a little questionable, but he seemed normal enough, despite his sociopathic tendencies.
The issue originally started as a joke. Jason was complaining about how hard it was to take over and manage a majority of Gotham’s underworld. Tim had laughed and said he could probably catch up to Jason in about 2 week, probably less.
The entire family bet on it. And surprise surprise, Tim won…by a landslide. Did everything and more in a week. When asked how Tim just laughed.
“Please. I know everything about everyone in this city. Nothing happens here without me knowing.”
And hold up? Did Tim already have a control of the underworld before this because that’s cheating? No he didn’t but the Bat’s learned that Tim has built and maintained a massive informant system that spans across everything in the city and some outside.
When asked why he just shrugged. “Bruce locked me out of the bat cave one too many times when I was Robin so I had to find my own way to get information.”
Later they learn that Drake industries did not go bankrupt. Well it did, but Tim bought it for Pennie’s on the dime and it now goes by Jackson Industries and has been systematically funding and buying rights to a number of medical practices/studies/etc to then redistribute at affordable rates. The reason every civilian in Gotham has a rebreather is because of Jackson Industries.
Also apparently Tim is a majority share holder with LexCorp. Again when asked Tim shrugged and said something about one to many attacks on Con and being ready to sweep the rig from Luther’s feet at any given moment left the man a lot more paranoid and a lot more careful.
That’s not even touching on Young Justice. The bats found footage of their early missions and realize that they’re def a ride or die group and they would 100% follow Tim before they stop him.
So yeah. They have a chat dedicated to making sure Tim doesn’t tip over the very thin line to villainy because honest to god, they’re not convinced they could stop him.
I'm scrolling through some ambient noises to help me write, and it got me thinking. Y'know those white noise machines people use for sleeping?
Do you think there's a very specific brand marketed at Gothamites?
Like everyone else has rainy nights on the beach, whale song, the crackle of the campfire, and everyone's all-time favorite "rickety fan about to oscillate off your shitty ikea desk at four in the morning."
And then there's "The Sounds of Gotham," a nighttime ambiance made up of heavy thunderstorms interspaced with the wail of police sirens and the occasional smattering of gunfire.
If you upgrade to premium, you can get the added sound effect of "small vigilante child dropping onto your apartment roof followed by the heavy pitter-patter of their combat boots as they dropkick a criminal off the fire escape."
Mm. Cozy.
tbh in some cases calling my projects “wips” kinda feels like a joke, because it implies that it’s actually “in progress” rather than being a thing that plagues my brain every once in a while.
i get that the majority of people who know batman know him from movies and therefore understand him as the violent justice character and assign values to the trinity as such. clark is hope, bruce is justice, diana is truth. but these are really wrong to me because it implies that bruce saves gotham via fear and pessimism alone.
he definitely terrifies the fuck out of gothamites, but that’s not all? the batsymbol also represents hope, the same way the S does.
the people of gotham have hope in batman. that his existence proves their city can get better, that they have someone to keep them safe. batman is hope to bruce, born out of an optimism that with the sacrifice of the rest of his life, he can truly make a difference in gotham. it gives gotham a second chance, a chance to get better.
it’s why the batsymbol means so much to cass, because like bruce, she believes in second chances. she got her own second chance, and she has hope that it’ll change the city.
it’s why jason wears the symbol as a mockery, because he doesn’t believe anymore. he’s been disillusioned with the idea that anyone deserves a second chance, which is why he’s willing to kill.
it’s why the criminal lords hate him, because he gives hope to the people they’re trying to take that hope away from. he disproves joker’s one bad day theory, because he had a lot of terrible fucking days and has seen the very worst of gotham and still manages to stick with his city.
saying that batman is pessimistic and born only to punish the guilty is such a diminishment of what the batsymbol means to gothamites, including bruce and his allies. and maybe nobody outside of gotham will ever get what the batsymbol means to them. nobody will understand that in the worst city in the world, they have a man willing to stick by them and sacrifice his everything just to save them.
