moby dick spoilers i wish that etymology and extracts were put in the whale fact a thon rather than breaking up Ishmael’s narration esp for readings where the structure of the book is reflective of his trauma the land section is like the happiest he’s gonna get it’s not a section where he’d need to distance himself unless he’s distancing himself from the suicidal ideation or the time right before he reaches New Bedford idk i get why it’s done like this I just am not a fan rambles
