My poor Heleana. She deserves the world.

The amount of like genuine burning hatred I see towards Jocelyn Fairchild has always shocked me.

I can understand peoples disdain or dislike towards her, but the absolute lack of empathy that anyone gives her is so astounding to me.

Jocelyn is not a perfect mother, this is so telling in the books but that’s the point. She’s probably in the worst position that a lot of people could be in. Not only is on the literal run from the clave with a baby, she’s also mass psycho murderer’s wife, and she’s on the run from and his last followers too. Notice how as soon as he came back the first thing he did was kidnap her??? I always see people talk about how Jocelyn was willing to marry Valentine, which is true because she loved him but Valentine is legit the worst husband anyone could have asked for. He consistently lies to her, he’s the one who killed her parents, and he also poisoned her WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT.

I also see so many complaints about the fact that she’s so overbearing over Clary, which I understand because it annoyed me too but so many different people are after Clary, I probably would be over bearing as well! Not to mention how reckless Clary is.

I also see the treatment of Sebastian as her biggest complaint and biggest source of hate as well. Which I find something so interesting because this is also something Jocelyn feels so guilty about as well (she legit cries over the J.C box). Because I think people don’t put themselves in her shoes. Your pregnant for the first time when your around 20-24 (really young), your boyfriend is literally starting an uprising and than you find out that he’s been poisoning YOU AND YOUR BABY with DEMON BLOOD aka the thing you’ve been taught to revere and kill your entire life? I’m not saying what Jocelyn did was okay or that I support child abandonment or neglect, but it’s a horrific situation to be in. Sebastian as a baby didn’t laugh, or cry and I can’t imagine how scary that was to Jocelyn.

And again, I’m not saying Jocelyn is the best mother in the world or that she made the best decisions the world has ever seen! I’m just saying I think there’s a total lack of empathy when it comes to anything revolving around her.
