pt. 1

Warnings: drinking, smoking

A/N : This one is a bit shorter, but I promise the next will be a bit longer💁🏽‍♀️

Wanda sighed as she walked out the Red Castle Bar, her brother right behind her.

Pietro walks around to the driver's side, turning on the car as he relaxes back in his seat. Wanda opens her door, sitting down in the passenger's seat. "You want me to drop you off at home?" Wanda shakes her head. "No, I need to go this venue, set up." Pietro rolls his eyes. He begins to pull off, Wanda scoffing at his reaction. "Just because Monica dumped you, doesn't mean I'm going to end the band for you, Piet." He scoffs, holding his foot over the brake. "Oh, come on. Where's the sympathy, sestra?" He asks dramatically. "I'm literally Switzerland." She defends, giggling at Pietro's disgruntled face.

The two made it to the small concert hall near the outskirts of the city. "Thank you!" She yells as he speeds off, guitar in her hand. She walked inside, opening the door to the venue. When she arrived, she could hear Carol performing some sort of drum solo. Kate stood in the back, feet propped up in a booth. "WOO!" Monica yells from the small side bar as the solo becomes more intense. When it eventually ends, the entire band cheers. "That was hot!" Wanda yells with a smirk. Carol smirks, pointing over at her and twirling the drumstick in hand.

Wanda moves over to the stage, walking up the stairs. She smirks over at Carol, naturally sitting on the drummer's lap. The blonde chuckles at the action, obviously trying to resist the urge to touch Wanda's bottom. Wanda smirks at Carol's uneven breathing, feeling her breath on her ear. "You're such a tease." She mutters, making Wanda shiver.

"You love it."

"Do I?" Carol smirks, moving back. "Guys!" Their attention is turned towards Kate. "If you guys are gonna have sex, at least do it in the bathroom?" She asks with her eyebrows raised. Wanda laughs, standing up. "Relax, we have class. We'll have sex behind the drum set, thank you very much." Kate rolls her eyes. "Haha, so funny. It's not like you guys haven't actually done that before." She regards with disgust.

"Oh shit, I remember that!" Carol laughs. "Why did you guys remind me of that?" Monica asks. "Oh, that was hot, milaya." Wanda growls, her accent becoming thicker. She turns to Carol, kissing her with an almost insane passion. Kate groans as she watches Wanda bite Carol's bottom lip. "Aren't you guys not dating anymore?" A new voice asks, making the blonde. "Hi, Nat!" She yells, still enthralled in the kiss.

The kiss more intense, if that was possible, and Natasha eyes widen in shock. Monica groans, grabbing a beer can, tossing it at Wanda's back. "Ow!"

"You guys are like horny teenagers!" The woman yells, making Wanda scoff. She moves away from Carol, placing her guitar on the small stand, and she walks off the stage. Sitting on the other side of the booth Kate sat in, she observed Kate as she smiles at her phone. "Ahem!" She clears her throat, startling the taller girl. "You have the set list?" Kate nods, pulling a paper out of her pocket.

She slides it across the table, instantly going back to her phone, making Wanda smirk. "Thanks." She gets a hum in response. She rolls her eyes, standing up, and walking back into the larger area. She notices Natasha, taking a seat next to her at one of the tables. "What's up, champ?" Natasha blushes. "Nothing much, just kicked the ass of the champion with 11 match winning streak, it feels insane to say." The red head smiles. "Wow, that's impressive." Wanda says.

"Yeah, it was actually crazy. Like, afterwards she could barely keep her eyes opened and I felt good." Natasha says with a large smile. "Oh, you're evil."

"I'm not evil! It was nice, feeling superior for at least one night, ya know?" Wanda nods, her eyes drifting over to Carol and Monica, who were analyzing the tech and how the levels sounded. "Ya know," Wanda's head snaps back to Nat. ", Carol...she gets around. Not like it's a bad thing, considering you already know. I just think she misses you.” Wanda shrugs.

“I also came across a very good set of music.” Wanda’s eyebrow knit in confusion. “That fucking CD? When I found out you dumped her…after that? I wanted to kill you.” Nat says playfully, making the other girl roll her eyes. “It was just a little project we did, it’s no big deal.” She shrugs.

“To you. Carol sang Janis Joplin for you, she hates singing!”

“Oh, whatever. I-“

”WANDA!” Thankfully the voice of Monica excused Wanda from this conversation.

----

The sun had gone down, and tens of people sat at the tables in the dining area, others in the side booths and at the bar. The curtains were open as the entire band, except Wanda, began to set up.

The bar's bell jingles as you walk in with Bucky, Sam, Sharon and Steve. You all walk over to any empty corner of the bar. You sit on the last seat towards the wall, pulling off your large hat and leaning your back on the wall. Bucky lets Sam sit next to Sharon, and he and Steve opt to stand. "It's never this packed." Sharon giggles. You wouldn't know considering this place was all the way across town and you frequented the Red Castle instead. "I guess it is today, huh?" You ask, making everyone shrug.

Your eyes move around the room, tuning out Sam ordering shots. When you spot the restroom, you tap Sharon's shoulder. "Hey, I'll be right back." She nods, blushing as you place a kiss on her cheek. You finger points at them all in warning. "No one drinks my shot!" They all chuckle as you puff up your jacket. You have to maneuver through a large amount of drunk patrons, making to the other side of the room. Thankfully, the bathroom didn't have a line at all, and when you entered, it was surprisingly empty.

You shrug to yourself, pulling out a carton of cigarettes, and pulling one out. You stuck in your mouth, using your small lighter to light it. You take a drag, blowing out smoke as you check yourself out in the mirror, fixing your disheveled hair. A click comes from the end of the restroom, startling you slightly. The same young woman you saw at the bar earlier today, walked out of the stall. You recognized her instantly, due to the excessive amount of rings on her fingers, and she was wearing the same t-shirt.

Maybe it was the small buzz you still had from day drinking, but your normal social anxiety subconsciously disappeared. You leant on the wall, cigarette still burning between your lips. "I know you." She freezes for a second, hand over the cold water knob with soap on her hands as she shifts her sight over to you. "You do, huh?" You nod with a smirk as she turns on the water to wash her hands.

"Well I don't know you." You chuckle, wiping your hand on your jacket, holding it out for her. "Y/N." Your hand sits in between the two of you for several seconds before you end up using it to pull out your cigarette for a moment. "Smoking's bad for you." The girl points out, making you scoff.

"So is drinking, but that doesn't stop me." You respond. She has a small smirk on her face, drying her hands with a paper towel. When she's finished, she tosses in one of the wastebaskets. "Nice to meet you, Y/N." She rasps, her hand running over your shoulder as she exits the restroom. You meant to come to pee, but now you couldn't. Why exactly did you think it was good to flirt with someone when you swore and gave your heart to someone else.

Maybe it wasn't that serious. She was just hot, and attractive, and very hot and attractive and...

"I need a fucking drink."

You were walking back to the bar, when the dining area lights went off. You noticed new people in your spots, when you heard your name across the bar. "Y/N!" Sharon waves over at you. You wave back, walking back over to the group, and scooting next to Sharon, you notice Steve walking back over with a chair, and sitting down in front of the booth. "So...as I was saying," Sharon starts. "This literally came up this morning. I tried you all day, until you popped up at the gym earlier." She said to you.

The band had begun to play a soft song, and Sharon continued. "Fury called." Your eyes widened in amusement. "He wants me back as a field medic, I'd be working with big units, a lot different from when we met." You all listened intently.

You remembered when you all met. You were all in the same division, Sam had been apart of pararescue assigned to your division. Bucky and Steve were Special Forces, you were a tanker, and Sharon was obviously a medic. You all served under Major General Nick Fury. You personally left that life behind a life of illegal betting and alcoholism. Steve and Sharon always considered it an option, and Sam and Bucky were more focused on the gym than serving again. "I thought Fury was on trial." Bucky asks, taking a sip from his beer.

"He got acquitted." Steve says. You nod, taking a beer that was sat on the table. "How long?" You ask. Sharon meets your gaze. "A year tops, but...you know Fury. He loves to fabricate the truth." She chuckles. "So why go back?" Sam asks. She shrugs sitting back, letting you place your arm over her shoulder. "I owe him."

"We all do." You mumble. "Listen, if I didn't know how much this meant to you, I'd grovel and beg you to stay," You start. "but I won't because I love you."

"Ya know, he asked about you." You scoff, taking a sip of your beer. "Never."

"That's fair."

i missed you - w.m

Summary: a small continuation of i don’t need you where you find your way to each other.

Warnings: none

Wanda had an exhibit to run. A young artist had begged for her pieces to be shown, and Wanda loved the pieces.

So she stood at the front, while the show gravitated towards the back. She said it was to let the artist explain their work and have their space, but it was really to eat the food from the caterers.

A small meal before going home to her house empty and quiet, wouldn’t hurt. The thought of leaving early and letting her artist close was creeping in her mind. Then came the jingle of the door.

Wanda didn’t turn around completely, only the silhouette of a tall person with a cane came into view. “After all these years, you still don’t want to look at me?” That voice, still sounded like silk. Wanda almost thought it wasn’t real.

Her back was still facing you, a small smile gracing your aged features. It hadn’t been too long, at least to her, but you were a lot more mature and older looking than you once were.  She turns, a gasp escapes her lips as she takes you in.

She’d made a mistake assuming you had a cane, when it was a simple forearm crutch. You had dark circles around your eyes, a new scar trailing down the side of your face. “Hey, stranger.” You said, pulling her out of her daze.

“H-Hi.” She whispers. You limp closer with a slower pace. “Look, I know you never wanted to see me again, but I actually know Felicia’s dad, so...” Wanda is sad that you thought she hadn’t wanted to see you again. “No! No, I don’t-I’m not a dictator, Y/N, you can go wherever you like.” You nod your head, walking over to the plates of meatballs.

“You still have good taste.” You say, putting some meatballs on a plate. “Thanks.” She blushes. She watches you as you’ve turned away from her, noticing another scar trailing down from your ear and around the middle of your neck.

“Y/N.” You look up, humming as you turn around. “Your sister...I talked to her a while ago and she said you’d gotten in a bad accident, but I never asked what happened.” I didn’t care.

“Oh, uh. Can we talk in a less private space?” You chuckle. Wanda quickly nods, leading you into her small office. You limp slowly behind her, taking her in. She opens the door, letting you into her small office. You look around in awe, your eyes dawning on one of her familiar drawings that you painted.

“You kept it?” You blurted out. She looks over to where your gaze went, a smile gracing her features. “Yeah, when my parents sold the house, it was the only one from my canvas that I could salvage.” She says with a sense of love and nostalgia.

“That’s awesome.” You smile. You turn to her face, a comfortable silence falling between you in your gaze. You shake your head, clearing your throat as you sit in a chair.

“Do you really want me to tell you what happened?” She nods, a sad look on her face. “I just-I want you to know that I knew, and I never called or checked in on you, and I’m so sorry.” She says with a somewhat desperate plea.

“It’s okay. Uh...when you left, I kinda became friends with Bucky.” Wanda’s eyebrows raise in shock. “Yeah, yeah, you didn’t want either of us, so we had common ground.” You chuckle.

“We started becoming drinking buddies. I wasn’t going to college, and he didn’t want to go pro, so we just stayed home. One day, I was really drunk. He uh...he offered to drive me home. I got into a fight, and someone smashed a beer bottle over my head, and I was bleeding. So we went to leave, and he was sober, but it was 3 in the morning and he was rushing to get me to a hospital. He swerved into the other lane, and we were very close to a semi, so he drove us off a hill in panic, and we fell into a ditch.” Wanda watched you as tears threatened to leave your eyes.

“When I woke up, I didn’t realize I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, I was halfway through the windshield, half dead. Sometimes I wish I was, ya know?” Wanda felt guilty for not being there. “It’s not your fault for not being there.” The redhead frowns.  “I got drunk, got in a fucking fight. It was my fault we almost died.”

If Wanda had heard this 5 years ago, she’s sure she would’ve dropped everything to come see you. “Ya know, Nat asked if I wanted to call you, I said no.” Her eyebrows scrunch in confusion. “Why?” At that point in her life, she had needed an excuse to see you, but she thought you didn’t want to see her either.

“Cause you didn’t need to see me like that. You don’t need to see me like this now, ok? I-I-this was a mistake…” You quickly stand up, walking towards the door. “Wait, no. I-“ Wanda goes to stop you from leaving, but you pause her actions with a wave from your hand.

“I came to say hi to Felicia, so I’m gonna do that, and leave.” You nod to yourself, walking outside of the room, leaving Wanda speechless.

She lets out a shuddering breath, tears threatening to stain her cheeks. As soon as the door is closed behind her, tears flow.

———

It wasn’t until she got home that she fully indulged in her sadness.

Tonight she was alone. Vision was away with Tony and Bruce, working on some exhibits in Europe, and the boys were with Pietro for the weekend.

You were also alone, but a lot less sad. No, you felt good. It was closure, talking to Wanda finally. You let her go when she did. What you hadn’t realized was that she never did.

Vision was a buffer. She was so used to your gestures, her mind led her to believe you’d actually come back for her.

You flew all the way to NYU for Wanda. You sent her a car, and flowers to her apartment, wanting to reconcile over what happened.

Maybe you’d get another chance with her.

Wanda was annoyed by this. She said at the airport that she couldn’t, that you weren’t ready for something less emotional and more centered. You were too immature, and so was she.

“We need to grow up before we start again, Y/N.” She hadn’t expected to fall in love with someone else.

You didn’t know this of course, with Wanda not speaking to you in months. So one day, she called you herself, letting you to know to meet her at some diner not far from the apartment she’d began to share with Vision.

You met her there, and the conversation started off well. That was until she mentioned a boyfriend. “Boyfriend.” You repeated. “Yes, I have a boyfriend now, Y/N. It’s not like we were together when I left” She said with a meaner and colder tone than you’d liked to have heard from her. “Wait, do you think I’m mad about-”

“I personally could care less how you feel about it.” She blurts out, rendering you speechless. “Wanda, I-” She halts your voice with a wave of her hand. “I don’t want you coming around anymore, ok? I need to start over.” She then left so abruptly, you couldn’t even process when the waiter came over with a bill. You muttered a “thank you.”, leaving back to your house out in Long Island, before leaving back to Texas, and never coming back.

Was she insanely cruel? Yes, it was something she did. She was impulsive, and when you were together it was cute. When you weren’t and she hated you, it was hell. Wanda believed it was he right thing.

That day she walked out of the diner with tears in her eyes.

At this point, maybe just realized she took your kindness for granted, and expected you to be there for her, crippled and all.

In this moment she made a decision, and bought a ticket to Penn Station, hoping you were where she thought.

i want you - w.m

I Want You - W.m

Summary: pt 3. of wanda finding her way back to you.

Warnings: mentions of drinking

A/N: it seems like everyone liked the other parts so i’m finishing it up💁🏽‍♀️

i don’t need you i missed you

Wanda had traveled all the way to your small home out in the Long Island suburbs of Suffolk County. You’d brought her here a few times, and to your beach house out in the Hamptons.

When the taxi stopped in front of the house, she said her “thank you”s and gave him his fare in cash. Exiting the car, the wind blew in her hair as she walked up the driveway.

It was early in the morning, and she could tell by the shape you were in that you weren’t doing much early runs or early morning push-ups anymore. It wasn’t a horrible thing, but it was noticeable.

She steps into the porch, deciding that she has nowhere she could run, and just knocks on the door. She shifts nervously on her feet, sighing when the door opens, but it’s not who she expects.

“Carol?” Wanda remembered Carol from when you guys were the only girls on the football team in high school. She was hopeful that your bonded friendship hadn’t become more. “Wow! Wanda, it’s been forever, man!” Wanda gasps at the tight hug she receives. The blonde backs away, motioning towards the other woman’s hair.

“Love the red, suits you.” The redhead chuckles, still reeling from the hug. “Thanks.” Carol moves back, showing her inside.

“I’m assuming you came to see Y/N, but if not, you can still come in.” Wanda moves inside, taking in the small bungalow in. The first thing she noticed was you sleeping on the couch.

Carol locks the door, before following her gaze. “She enjoys it for some reason. I told her not to cuz she’s got a bad back, but she can’t stop. Apparently…” She pauses, moving to the kitchen and Wanda follows.

“Sam was having issues and she let him take her room while she slept on the couch, I guess it’s comfortable now.” Wanda frowns at the explanation. What more did she have to learn about?

A sound startled her slightly when she notices the back door open. “Ok, so I just talked to Peter, and-“ Y/N’s younger sister, Andrea, walked into the kitchen, way older than when Wanda last saw her, no longer a high school freshman. The girl looks up, her eyes widening as she pauses.

“Is that Wanda Maximoff?” Wanda chuckles, nodding as Andrea whispers a squeal, grasping Wanda in a hug. “My god, did you put on baby weight?” The younger girl says, making Wanda scoff as she pushes her back. She hold up her hand in surrender.

“My bad. Last time I saw you, you were gonna give birth to twins. Now it’s been 9 years, you’re married, I’m engaged.”

“I know, it’s crazy-. Wait did you just you were engaged?” Her eyes light up when Andrea shows her a ring on her finger. “Yes! 2 months in counting, Y/N won’t admit it, but she definitely chose the ring.” Wanda observes the ring with raised eyebrows. “Oh wow.”

A shuffle from the living room gets their attention. Your figure rises from the couch as you sniffle. You rub your nose before standing up and stretching. You almost fall back on the couch as you wobble, but hold yourself up. Andrea snickers, and you look up at them.

Your eyes easily find them, and unbeknownst to her, you knew she was here, you weren’t a heavy sleeper, but she didn’t have to know that. Wanda? Two days in a row? Hell must’ve frozen over. “Don’t make fun of a cripple.” You mutter walking up the tiny step to the kitchen, completely ignoring the odd woman out.

You limp to the fridge, grabbing the bottle of orange juice and reaching in a cabinet to get a cup. “Hey, did you know Wanda was in town? I guess she wanted to stop by.” Carol tries, knowing the tension had begun to rise. “I can see.” You don’t say it in a rude way, but as a matter of fact.

Wanda’s never heard you speak like that around her, unless you were talking about someone or something you hated. Andrea clears her throat, speaking up. “Uh…Peter has an event for the mayor later today, so I’m gonna make sure he’s set up. I’ll hopefully see you later?“ Wanda nods with a smile. She grabs her bag that was on the table, and walks towards the door.

Carol makes her way towards the garage as you grab the bagel off the fridge. “I gotta go to work, so…” You roll your eyes, popping the bagels in the toaster oven. “You guys fucking suck, I hate you both.” The two shrug, leaving you two alone.

Wanda sighs, looking down with a sad face at the way you were speaking about her as if she wasn’t there. After a short while, the bagels pop up, and you grab them, spreading butter and cream cheese on both halves. You grab a napkin, and limp towards the table.

Wanda just watches you as you begin to eat, making you pause. “Do you want to talk or not?” She could recall that tone, the same one she’d given you once.

She warily sits in a seat opposite you. You smile to yourself, but not in a happy way. “Ya know, yesterday…it helped. I know all about what you’ve become. I’ve watched from very far. I just want you to be ok, no matter how you treat me. That’s why I waited. I waited for a decade. We told each other we were gonna wait, and you didn’t, and I was ok with that. I waited, I kept my distance, and then you sat in a public and ripped my fucking heart out in front of all those people!” She almost flinched at your volume, almost.

She knew you, you only yell when your frustrated. “I don’t know why I did it.” She whispered. “Did you even love me?” She furrows her eyebrows. “What?! Of course I did.”

“Two years of dodging me, not giving me a chance to talk and then embarrassing me in front of people I don’t know? Nine years of radio silence after writing me back saying I was pathetic? THATS NOT LOVE, WANDA!” You were very upset, almost to the point where you were already giving yourself a headache.

“I don’t know what I could say-“

“I wanted to propose.”

“…”

“I gave Vision the ring. After that, I left. Not a month or two later and now I can barely walk. How sad.”

“I’m sorry that I wasn’t there for you.”

“Yeah, because the guilt is weighing on you. You’re just a coward. I walked in there with a level head, and that look on your face?” You take a deep breath.

“I almost didn’t want to tell you I moved on too.” Wanda lets out a shaky breath. “You’d just run away again, cut me off, right?…Her name is uh…you remember Yelena, Natasha’s sister? She was in Dre’s grade. We met at the engagement party, hit it off.” She almost doesn’t want to believe it.

“I forgot you existed, that was until Felicia invited me here.” You finish eating before standing. Your eyes bore into hers.

“You have a husband, you have children. If you can to apologize, I forgive you. If you came to reconcile because you dropped your very nice husband, I’ve moved on. I still love you. Whether you ever really loved me? That’s something you have to figure out.” You toss your trash in the can.

“If you need a ride to the train station, Bucky’s in the room by the closet, I can’t drive anymore, legs give out at bad times.” You have a small smile on your face as Wanda nods, standing up.

“I just…I don’t know why I did that to you. I thought being cruel would keep you away, and it worked, unfortunately. I-I loved the chase between us, you were so emotional and I wanted you to come after me, and then I got annoyed. I hope you and Yelena last forever, longer than us.” You nod, watching her walk away towards Bucky’s room.

last dance - w.m

Last Dance - W.m

Summary: pt 4., the last dance

Warnings: none

A/N: last part of my fav au series💁🏽‍♀️ also this is the song i used for this chapter

From then on, Wanda and your sister had kept in touch. Neither of them told you, mostly because the day after Wanda had come to your house, you went back to Texas.

Wanda had met Peter, who was a really sweet kid. The woman helped them with venues and planning. She was able to find them a beautiful place upstate, and even got herself an invitation.

She wanted to go with Vision, but he knew she missed her old friends, and insisted she go alone. She did, but she knew you’d be there. It wasn’t like she didn’t help Andrea organize the seating charts. Another issue has been your sister wanting you two to sit together.

You didn’t know about it, and Wanda wanted to refuse, but she didn’t which did not surprise your sister in the slightest. She didn’t know you were bringing Yelena last minute.

That was how the wedding day became quite awkward. You’d been helping Peter with his nerves, straightening him out so he doesn’t embarrass your sister and you. “Peter, calm down, breathe.” The boy nods, following your breathing pattern. “Okay, okay I’m good.” He looks over to his Aunt who smiles at him.

“You look great, Pete.” He looks over to Bucky and Sam who nod as well. Ned gives him a thumbs up. You pat him on the shoulder, heading towards the door. “Alright, gonna check on the bride, make sure he doesn’t run away.” They all nod as you leave the room.

Andrea hadn’t told you about anything on her end, pushing you to help Peter more. Which you gladly did as her wish. Only your older siblings, Natalie and Marco, had seen the dress. It was and old dress Wanda had made years ago when she wanted to use it for your wedding, but that day never came.

Your sister loved it, and now it was hers. This would be the first time you’d really seen her in it ever. When you entered the room, you wanted to cry, she looked so gorgeous.

An excitement danced in her eyes as you fought back tears. Wanda finished touching her up, and she stood next to your sister. “You look amazing.” You wished your mother was here to see her. This almost felt like nothing had ever changed.

Your eyes found Wanda’s in the mirror, and all the animosity had almost escaped you. You hadn’t noticed Emma, who accompanied Wanda as her plus one, grab you out of the room, shutting it lightly behind you. “She’s married.” Your eyes widened.

“Nice to see you too, Em.” Emma smiles, crossing her arms. “I sat next to you guys for two years, enduring endless, disgustingly adorable amounts of pining, and love, and slobbery kisses. It was insufferable. You’re not going to ruin a 10-year marriage on your sister’s wedding day.” You chuckle.

“I have a girlfriend, Emma.”

“Oh. Seriously? Because the other night I saw Monica and Pietro with rings, and I thought you ended up alone.”

“Harsh.”

“What? You brood a lot, I personally would not date you.”

“That’s because you have no standards.”

“Oh, you are so wrong, Y/LN.”

“You dated Scott Summers.”

“…That’s fair.” She smirks, before pulling you in for a hug. “I hate to admit that I missed you.”

“Same.” The door creaked open, but she refused to let go. “She’s ready.” Emma looked up at her friend, breaking the hug. You turned to Wanda, a genuine smile on your face. “Thank you.” The red head nods, walking back into the room.

You both followed, and you smiled at your sister. “How is he?”

“Nervous. You ready?” She nods, looking around at the women in the room. “You guys go get ready, I wanna talk with Y/N for a sec.” The women nod, walking out of the room to leave you with space. “Wanda.” The woman stop in her tracks, moving out of the way so the others can leave first. “Stay for a minute?” She nods, sitting down.

The door closes as Emma leaves last, and you stand up near the mirror. “Is this how you guys felt?” You both look at her confusion. “When you guys were together. I-I never saw that love with mom and dad, I wanted what you guys had. It was like…endless.” Wanda looked over at you, but you were listening to your sister intently.

“I feel so strongly for Peter, and it always reminds me of you guys, the way you looked at each other. I didn’t know it was love until he started looking at me the way you looked at Wanda.” Your eyes drift over to her. “Did you fall out of love?” Your attempt to not cry wasn’t really working.

“No, I didn’t break us up. We started off as Wanda trying to figure out herself outside of Bucky and Pietro as her shining light. For two years, really since 4th grade, I assumed we loved each other. You and Peter? There’s no question he loves you. What we assume to be love, doesn’t always last. We never fell out of love, or at least I didn’t. She just found someone new, someone she wanted a life with. It just wasn’t me.” Wanda couldn’t even look at you.

“Do you feel that way now?” The million dollar question on Wanda’s part. You looked at her in pain. “You know I do.”

———

That was your cue to leave with Andrea. You’d given her away after her constant insistence. Their vows were so beautiful, you cried so hard, Natasha and Natalie had to calm you down afterwards. “I’m sorry, I’m just emotional. I’m fine.”

Later on, you all settled into the dining hall for a great dinner. You sat at the big table with the couple, laughing at the speeches from friends and family. The two then had a dance, and you had drifted towards an exit, looking to get air.

Your sister had noticed Wanda’s longing gaze, smiling as she went after you. You sat outside, a cigarette in your mouth as your crutch leaned on the small bannister.

“Thought you hated cigarettes.” You slightly jumped, sighing at the woman. “Recent habit.” She nods, sitting next to you. “I remember when you’d get upset because I promised to stop. I haven’t even thought about it since.” She chuckles looking out at the now dark sky.

You offer it to her, but she refuses. “Where’s Yelena?” You chuckle to yourself, taking a drag. “She’s in love with Kate.” Wanda’s eyes widen as she turns her body to you. “Bishop?! As in-“

“Dre’s maid of honor? Known each other since middle school. Kinda like us. I’m glad she told me, happy for her.”

“Why do you do that?” You look over in confusion. “You’re always so calm, and nice, and forgiving. Monica cheated on you with my brother, and you told her you understood her stress, and stayed friends. John fucking Walker beat the shit out of you, and you forgave him. Why?” You shrug.

“Maybe I hate resentment. I need people to feel safe and grounded so I don’t have a fucking breakdown. You wanted me to be mad and upset about Vision, there was no reason because you made a choice. Same as you choosing me over Bucky. You made a choice, I wanted you to not feel like I was forcing you to do anything. That’s just what I do.”

“I’ve always hated that about you.”

“It makes me less angry, learned it from my therapist.” Wanda smiles. “Do you wanna dance?”

“Can you hold up 198 pounds of almost dead weight, I just got real feeling back in my legs like a month or two ago.” Wanda chuckles, nodding.

You both stand, and position yourselves. You begin to hum a familiar tune, and Wanda lays her head on your chest as if it was old times again. You mimic a saxophone and she giggles at your attempt, making you smile.

She almost didn’t want to leave. What if she just stayed like this forever? What if she said yes at that airport that day? Would life had been any different?

She hoped this wasn’t your last dance.

birthday - maddy perez

image

Summary: it’s maddy’s 18th

a/n: i think all of my maddy fics are just the same version of the reader, so it’s basically a continuation of my last one. THANK YOU GUYS FOR 100+ FOLLOWERS

It had been a few weeks since you decided to kiss Maddy.

You loved it, and so did she.

Only problem?

She was figuring out things with Nate. She was very glad when you gave her space to do so. She hadn’t told you about Nate coming over to her job to see her.

Even if she had, she assumed you wouldn’t think the worst. By the end of the day, thoughts of Nate had escaped her mind as soon as you called her over. When you opened the door, a smirk layer on your face.

“Hey.” She smiles. “Hi.” You move out of her way so she can step in. “Hi, Ms. Y/LN!” She greets, eyeing your mother in the kitchen. “Hey, Maddy. Y/N told me your birthday was tomorrow, happy birthday.” The shorter smirks as you blush.

“Oh, thank you.” You excuse yourselves dragging her up to the door by your room. You stop walking by your door, and she looks at you strangely.

“Close your eyes, I have a surprise!” You smirk. Maddy closes her eyes, and you lead her inside. A small black Marc Jacobs dress with blue ruffles across the chest laid on your bed.

You placed Maddy in front of the only mirror in your room, before grabbing the dress and placing it over her chest so she could see it. “Open your eyes.” Maddy does so and lets out a small gasp. “Is this-Is this for me?” You nod, smiling wide, watching her as she grabs the hanger you were holding.

She’d received gifts from Nate plenty of times, but something about you giving her something felt different. From him, it was to satisfy her and shut her up. From you it felt like you thought she deserved it, she loved the way you showered her.

She turns around, kissing you on the lips. “Oh my god, thank you.”

———

Maddy’s party had been at Cassie’s place, and Maddy happily invited you over for a pre-party make-out session. She wanted to distract you because she sort of felt guilty about inviting Nate.

You could tell she felt distracted when she retracted from your lips. You sit up on your elbows, as she climbs off of her bed. “You okay?” She hums, moving over to the closet and pulling out the dress you bought her.

She lays it down on a chair, before waltzing back over to you. “Let’s just get ready.” You frown as she avoids your eye contact.

———

You arrived at the Howard household, greeting Cassie and Kat when you arrived. You greeted BB and Lexi who were already in the living room. Maddy had branched off with her friends for a second while you had been discussing the fact that you’ve never drunk with Cassie’s mother.

“Not even once?” You shrug. “Nope. Well, that’s kind of a lie, but it’s not frequent, ya know?” Maddy chuckles, watching you guys from the kitchen. “Oh no, you’ve gotta try this beer, it’s crazy good…”

“So…what is going on between you guys?” Kat asks. She noticed you had gotten closer and not in the best friends kind of way. “Nothin’ really.” She hadn’t noticed Cassie listening intently.

Nate told her that even if she did want to get back together with him, you were firmly in his way. He wasn’t stupid, he saw you both together. She just wanted to confirm that you were dating so she could have Nate. Now she had the urge to talk to you.

———

Cassie had brought out Maddy’s cake, which was unsurprisingly just a large photo of Maddy.

Not long after she received presents, one being a very nice gold bracelet you got her. Then everyone sat to take pictures. You opted out, but Suze and Maddy forced you to sit down, and so you did.

Afterward, the party really started happening because everyone was getting drunk. Especially Cassie. “Y/NN?” You look up at the blonde from where you were staring at Maddy dancing. “Hmm?”

“Do you like Maddy?” It was so sudden, you almost choked on your spit. “I-Of course I do, why?” You tilted your head, making her shrug. “I just thought you guys were-“

“Oh! Uh…she’s still figuring out herself, so I’m giving her space.” How nice, she thought. Did you know that she would probably go back to Nate anyway? No.

That was something you and Cassie unknowingly hoped.

———

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.

When you found out about Nate, you were furious. Not because Maddy didn’t tell you…who were you kidding? Of course, it was because she didn’t tell you.

That, and the fact that he acted like a gentleman. He greeted Suze and acted nice. Gave Maddy a necklace from Tiffany’s. The one thing stranger than Nate being nice was Cassie’s behavior.

“Hey, Cass?” The girl looks over to you, another drink in hand. You share a look with Lexi, who shrugs. “I think you should slow down.”

“Did I ask what you think?” Harsh.

“No, but the last time you drank like this it was embarrassing for everybody.”

Cassie grunts, walking away as you watch her with amusement.

———

You sat by the edge of the jacuzzi while Maddy sat inside of it beside your legs. Nate had slid into the jacuzzi next to where BB sat. Kat turned to you. “So…where did you get that dress?” She wonders. “It was a Marc Jacobs piece, $225.” Maddy looks up at you in shock.

“Seriously?” You nod. Before she could ask about her new bracelet, Nate slipped into the jacuzzi, sitting down on the bench. He looked over to Maddy, and then you. He nods over at you in greeting. “I didn’t see you before.” Mostly because he didn’t notice you avoiding him by sitting in the living room while everyone else ate.

Maddy would’ve been mad if she hadn’t seen your glare towards him. “I was uh...doing some other stuff, ya know?” Like crying. Or punching a hole in the wall of Cassie and Lexi’s bathroom. A very small one.

“Cool.” It had become a comfortable silence for about a minute. That was until Cassie barged in, tossing herself over Nate. “Happy birthday!” She slurs.

“Thank you.” You slide down into the pool next to Maddy, connecting your hands underwater. “I’m so glad you guys are back together.” BB says. Your jaw clenches when Maddy lets your hand go, and slides over slightly.

“We’re not back together.” Maddy blurts out. “You aren’t?-” Cassie starts.

“No.” He answers to swiftly for Maddy’s taste. “I mean I was gonna say no, but why are you saying no?” He bows his head, staring at the water like Maddy was his mom disciplining him. “Oh uh-because we’re not?”

“I know, but why’d you sound so definitive about it?” You can tell when Maddy would get rage full. “I don’t even know what we’re arguing about-“

“You and your tone.”

"But we're not back together." He seemed to continue bowing his head, never had Nate Jacobs looked so small. You watched intently as the conversation continued. “Yet." Your jaw clenched at the addition to his sentence, and you quickly pushed yourself out of the jacuzzi.

“Hey, you alright?” Kat asks, and you nod. “Yeah, I’m sorry, my stomach hurts a little bit. I’ll be back.” You weren’t the only one feeling queasy, but when it came to you, the lack of attention Maddy gave you made it worse. For the other person, the addition of too much attention made them sicker.

When you entered their upstairs bathroom, you hurled most of your food up. Maybe those beers were a bad idea. It was only two, but it was terrible on your stomach.

The funny thing was you and Cassie hurling your guts at the same time. “Ugh, God!” Maddy yells. She wipes herself up, mostly on her legs and dries up as Nate and everyone else begin to leave. “You need a ride home?” He has the audacity to ask.

“No, I’m good. Y/N!” She calls. You wash out your mouth, before walking down the stairs, your eyes widening at the sight of Cassie being dragged down the corridor. “Um…”

“Y/N!” You look down the steps at Maddy who was being watched by Nate. “I’m ready to go.” She announces.

———

You open her door as she moves into the car, the dress you’d bought her now back on.

As you drove, it became so quiet that Maddy turned in the radio to fill the void. Usually, you’d talk her ear off with something or thoughts about any party she dragged you to in the past few weeks.

“Hey.” You glance at her for second. “Hmm?”

“Why are you so quiet? It’s weird.” Silence.

“Y/N.” You felt guilty ignoring her as you pulled up on her street. “Y/N?” You still wouldn’t talk to her.

“Is this about Nate?” You pull up to the sidewalk next to her driveway, parking the car. “What? So you’re not speaking to me now?!”

“You ignored me as soon as he got there Maddy! Why would you care so much about someone who could care less about your well-being?!”

“You said you’d give me space!”

“I lied! God! I lied because I wanted you to figure out he was terrible for you! Obviously if you still care about him enough to ignore me, than you obviously made your fucking choice, Maddy!” You were starting to scare her. She only got this type of yelling from Nate, you never yell at her.

Especially not this way. “I mean, he said “we’re not back together yet” as if it was inevitable!”

“I don’t want him back, Y/N!-“

“Then what do you fucking want?!” I want you.

She never uttered those words. Instead, she scoffs, slamming your door behind her as she leaves you in your own sorrow.
