The last of the non-fiction drawings from when I had computer troubles.

This was really common when I was in primary school - comparisons of clothing styles between puritans and catholic royalists. One thing I noticed though is that they tended to show upper-class royalists, and middle or lower-class puritans, so I drew a standard upper-class royalist pair (although they ended up looking way too much like the actual king and queen...) and tried to find information on what upper-class puritans would wear.

It turns out puritans were very much in favour of the social hierarchy, and upper-class puritans would have worn richer fabrics and embellishments like ribbons and lace edging to visually indicate their social standing. The open-fronted skirt was apparently a more conservative style at the time, because it required less of the more expensive outer fabric.

Some more pictures from before I fell off the face of the earth. I’ve had trouble with my eyes for a year or so now, and at one point I tried to draw what it felt like in the hopes of finding out what was wrong. Turns out I was just going short-sighted, and had noticed about 18 months before I needed a prescription (the prescription is still only half a dioptre), it’s nice to finally know what was happening. My small sketchbook was apparently the only paper I had to hand at some point, since I seem to have written notes on it.

This is an example double-page spread from a children's book concept, in which a girl descends through different levels of the ocean in a bathysphere. The full book would have a double page per ocean region, and probably some extra pages in the back with facts about the real sea life that appears and the development of the bathysphere and such.

This year’s event had some changes that caused a lot of arguments online, so I’m still dithering about whether I should say anything about how I thought it went. Does anyone have a backbone I can borrow?

A big thank you to everyone who bought stuff at London MCM Comic Con! Sarah and I had fun behind the table chatting to people who came by and inventing our own gang name and secret hand shake. 

We are hoping to exhibit at the event again in October - but no promises since there’s a lot of competition for table space!

Inktober 2015 - Day 7 : brush inking and ink wash 7 or 8 years later, Lucas is probably as fully recovered as he’s ever going to be.

I was going to wait until later to draw something like this, so I didn’t have the same characters too many times, but I couldn’t think of anything else so here we are. Surprise, he has a sister and it’s Lena! He was born with the same Second Sight as her, but it’s all messed up now and he can’t control it any more.

you guys! my sister ponymonster is selling her leftover convention stock, she has some really cute stuff up on her etsy store. please take a look and help her out! i’ve been using the starters zipper bag as my pencil case for a while now haha.

in other news i handed in my first year film today ( \ ; v ;)/ i’m so happy it’s done…expect hemlock pages soon now that i’m free for summer.
