13. a long night ahead

the train back to hyogo was depressing to say the least. with your three best friends clinging to you, their tears staining your hoodie, you couldn’t help up shed a few tears yourself. were you excited to go back? no—like definitely not. there was so much going on there that the only thing you wanted was to stay at miyagi with your friends and chat with fumiko. also, who would’ve thought you’d be on good terms with your cousin whom you hated your whole life? with staying in hyogo for a month now, too many has happened.

it would be a lie to say you weren’t dreading your return, probably to be scolded by the twins about inviting your cousin but all you wanted to do was pack a punch on their faces. suna—rintarou, was also in the list, but at least he had managed to man up and apologize to you which made you put him on on the “watch-out” list. you shouldn’t be anxious about making it home, your own house, but for some reason with all the events that happened, your were nervous to step inside the house where the twins and ayaka were in. and hopefully, about to leave the house for the night. you understood why she was nervous and afraid, but fumiko was your cousin and you both had some intertwined issues you needed to solve and talk about—to fully leave the past behind, and the girl in your home wasn’t going to stop that.

getting out of the train to call for a taxi, your were caught by surprise when you saw rintarou leaning against a lamppost looking around. “what are you doing here?”. startled by your voice he saw you looking at him arms crossed and eyebrows raised. pocketing his phone he left his position and

walked closer to you, “thought i could accompany you back home,” he shrugged, “pick up fumiko on the way i don’t know.”

you were surprised at his request, didn’t he also not like fumiko? blinking twice before gathering your thoughts, you nodded at him. “alright, just don’t get into a fight with her.” pointing at him playfully and followed him towards the car.

the atmosphere in the car was awkward since suna didn’t know how to open up a conversation with you even though you’ve forgiven him. he was really worried when he realized you bad left hyogo. not knowing where you could be, it was safe to say he panicked before he saw the tweets you made indicating you were safe and sound in miyagi and not dead somewhere in a ditch.

even though ayaka had wanted him by her side too, the guilt he felt after those texts didn’t allow him to. he never thought you were also a victim of the same stuff ayaka goes through and the fact that he called you selfish for that? he just didn’t even want to think about it. “so uh, how many more minutes before we reach her house?”

“it’s this one on the right.” you pointed outside the window. parking in front of the house, he watched as you rang the doorbell and walked back to the car when fumiko left the house.

“ugh finally im coming over to yours! i swear to god that girl better be out of that place when i arrive or you’ll have to hold me back-“

“-fumiko.” you gave a tight lipped smile trying to discretely point at the boy next to you.

“-hold me back before i go and hug her! yeah! really missed my dear ayaka!” she said with an over enthusiastic smile on her face, one suna could easily see behind.

“im not stupid you know that right? and she’ll be out of there, we notified her beforehand.”

“could’ve fooled me.” she muttered under her breath. suna chose to ignore her statement and looked at you with a deadpanned expression but all you could do was shrug so he continued to drive to your house while you and fumiko sat silently in your seats; the tension in the car suddenly increasing.

arriving at her home, all you wanted was to spend time with your cousin alone without any other presence in the house. but no—the gods had other plans for you and wanted you to suffer today because the second you entered your house with the two others behind you, you were met with the twins and ayaka having dinner in the kitchen.

taking a deep breath, you closed your eyes to calm your nerves because if one of them even raised their voices at you hell would break inside the household. you were not to be tested with today. “i can see how you told them beforehand, i love how they’re literally acting as if its their own home.” fumiko smiled sarcastically looking at suna from the corner of her eyes while taking her shoes off.

while all that was happening, the other three individuals in the room were looking at you frozen in their place. “hi ayaka! its so lovely to see you here! hope i won’t be a bother to your peaceful environment. the last thing i’d want would be too disturb your peace.” fumiko pouted looking directly at the girl as she walked closer to her but changing her direction the last second to open the fridge.

you and suna were still in the entry, the latter looking at you trying to solve the expression on your face. when you finally moved from your stop to ignore the trio and go upstairs with your bags with fumiko following behind you, suna broke the silence.

“didn’t you guys plan on ayaka staying over at yours tonight?” he crossed his arms leaning against the fridge.

“rin! i was...but turns out they had guests over tonight so we had no other choice!” she stood up to hug him only for it to be one-sided because his attention was on the twins with a serious expression on his face. “then you guys better not complain about fumiko’s presence and further annoy the girl”

atsumu was visibly losing composure and suna knew it was because he was holding his tongue back from saying something to the two girls. “what is it sunarin? ya suddenly like her?”

“i don’t. but that doesn’t change the fact that this isn’t ayaka’s house and the fact that she informed you beforehand of her arrival even though she didn’t need to in the first place is something you should appreciate rather than complain. ”

“...its alright rin. we’ll just hang around here while they’re in y/n’s room! im sure that won’t cause any problems.”

“um no.”

all heads turned around to you as you were walking down the stairs with fumiko behind you. “this is my house ayaka and im not locking myself in my room while you walk around the house. it’s going to be the opposite.”

“its funny how you’re walking around as if you own the place. please.” fumiko continued rolling her eyes behind you.

“watch yer tounge blondie.” atsumu warned her.

“or what piss hair? gonna throw a ball on my face?”

“ya wanna try-“

“alright stop.” osamu stepped in between his twin and the girl, finally building up the courage to open his mouth, obviously avoiding eye contact from you. you looked at suna who still had ayaka stuck on his side looking down like she was afraid.

you sighed, a long night was ahead of you.

i can confirm for a fact that fumiko landed scratches on atsumu’s arms with her nails but atsumu couldn’t touch her bcs osamu kept holding him back (ง •̀_•́)۶
