Scandinavian scientists said Wednesday that they have identified the oldest-known inscription referencing the Norse god Odin on part of a gold disc unearthed in western Denmark in 2020.
Lisbeth Imer, a runologist with the National Museum in Copenhagen, said the inscription represented the first solid evidence of Odin being worshipped as early as the 5th century—at least 150 years earlier than the previous oldest known reference, which was on a brooch found in southern Germany and dated to the second half of the 6th century.
The disc discovered in Denmark was part of a trove containing about a kilogram (2.2 pounds) of gold, including large medallions the size of saucers and Roman coins made into jewelry. It was unearthed in the village of Vindelev, central Jutland, and dubbed the Vindelev Hoard. Read more.

Could Medusa Kill Sun Wukong?
My previous article shows a possible astrological connection between the immortal-killing skull weapon of Yuebei Xing, the Monkey King's daughter, and the gorgon Medusa.
This made me think of an interesting question: Could Medusa kill Sun Wukong by turning him into stone? I think many people would agree this isn't possible considering that he's already stone. But I don't think other Journey to the West characters would fare too well.
I say this because, according to this insightful reddit post, the Dionysiaca (Gr: Διονυσιακά, 5th-century) shows that even the Greek god Dionysus considered her death stare dangerous enough to bring protection against it during his battle with Perseus:
The thyrsus was held up in his hand, and to defend his face he carried a diamond, the gem made stone in the showers of Zeus which protects against the stony glare of Medusa, that the baleful light of that destroying face may do him no harm (Rouse, 1940, vol. 3, p. 413).
So if Medusa could harm or even kill Greek gods, she could definitely do harm against various Journey to the West characters.

Parasite and Girl
Hephaestus: A good romance starts with a good friendship. Dionysus: A bad romance starts with "Rah, rah-ah-ah-ah roma, roma-ma gaga, ooh-la-la".
