Nino: Jensi OKAY SO MY REASONING; the part that Nino plays is a fun friend who's totally detached from Adrien's modelling, upper-class life. So I ran into an issue with Keefe being both Nino and Chloe. (NO KEEFE BEING THE CHLOE DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEIR FRIENDSHIP WILL END, FITZ WILL END UP WITH MULTIPLE BEST FRIENDS AND PLEASE READ FIRST PART FOR MORE DETAILS ON CHLOE KEEFE) There's also like. no other male main character that's even got anything other than Wylie. (and no offense to Wylie. He's cool I just permanently have him being at least 5 years older than the oldest of the main main cast mentally so it's hard thinking of him as anything but that and thus it's kinda awkward) so this is a chance to flesh out Jensi more!! He's also like, the kid who talks to people quickly and is really friendly, so I figured he'd be a good fit.

As for the rest of the characters, there's...welp this is the end. Mainly because I can't really find any other 'roles' they can fulfil since I've done the mains already. So they'll backfill, but I'll try to give them their own arcs as well.

For the adult characters, Sophie will be adopted by Edaline and Grady in the beginning already. They run an extremely successful bakery with multiple outlets across Paris. also should Jolie still be dead or be an older sister figure to Sophie? for funsies (and also because Amy's in a coma in the AU)

Gabriel: Alden. Yall knew this was coming the MOMENT I put Fitz as Adrien.

Felix: Alvar. HEAR ME OUT. ALVAR BEING MORE LIKE A DISTANT COUSIN (because reasons I haven't figured out yet) than older brother BECAUSE OF HOW OFTEN HE'S AWAY. Alvar returning and stirring Fitz into further rebellion (and making Alden remember why he threatened to disown his oldest son and failure) Alvar having his own agenda, that both lines up and collides with the heroes' (protecting Fitz, and then Biana when she returns)

Also just to clarify; my in-the-drafts AU is not season 1, season 2, season 3. Season 1 is mainly filler, and while I'm planning to use the 'villain of the week' eps turned into actual character development, I'm just trying my best. I also, plainly, just do not want to write 26/(maybe more including s2 eps) chapters just being recolors of the same episode with Sophie and Fitz's names over Mari and Adrien's. that is a rabbit hole I have seen many fall into and I don't think I could stand being that plotless (sorry)

Finally, depending on how much of the filler I cut, I'm looking at the entire story spanning about maybe two years at most. (keep in mind I am trying to avoid s4 and s5 entirely. just. no. I cannot draw out a reveal scene that long I'm trying to plan it in conjunction when Sophie and Fitz finally successfully hunt down the verse Master Fu)

Hot take: I don't like that the s3 eps will be back to 11min

So apparently for Season 3 of LF: The Next Chapter, the eps will now be 11min and split in half, two stories per ep. Now I don't like this, mainly because while season 1 and season 2 eps were pretty self-contained but also had a strong overall continuity with good side stories that played into it overall. Plus, we already have multiple stories per ep-take for example, the one titled 'Liann's Lucky Charms'.

There's no doubt that Liann's charms are the focus of the episode, but there's a strong side story with Leo that eventually culminates with the collision of both of the plots of the episode; Liann giving Leo a lucky charm to help give him courage to stand up to Candi. The episode didn't feel too short or too long, but thanks to the length time, it was able to build up the necessary parts that needed to be shown for the audience to empathize with Leo and root for him with Candi, and also to show the gradual descent of madness with the lucky charms.

None of it felt like filler-it was all vital to show the impact, and because the buildup was strong, the payoff was satisfying to watch and the conclusion was good. If the episode length is shortened again, then the buildup will also have to be cut. This will make it harder to show more mature stories with satisfying tension and buildup to show the real issues, because there won't be enough time to fit it all in.

And sure, you could argue that 'if they stick to one story per 11min', like say only featuring Liann's charms for 11min without the side story with Leo. But then it's not as impactful. We've seen the lucky charms be used for good luck with Zac's dance move, Aliya's test, Nova's level, et cetera. But it doesn't quite carry the same weight as Leo using the last charm while standing up to Candi. It's a solid and good message, delivered well, that also brings the lucky charms full circle and ties it off nicely. So while you could write it without the parts with Leo, it simply would not carry the same emotional weight.

Similarly, there's also something to be said about the part where Liann offers Leo a lucky charm. Could Leo's story also be a separate 11min-ep? Possibly. But the whole point of the buildup with the lucky charms finally being used to help Leo with a real, true issue and not for something as momentary as a test or a lucky draw scratch card, is what closes the plotline perfectly. Cutting the episode time in half will make the story suffer.

So overall, I don't want the episodes to end up 11min again, because I think that it will result in stories with less satisfying buildup and payoff. That's already happened to Ninjago, and I am so glad they returned to 22-min eps.
