One of the four colossal heads carved by Olmecs (800BC). Heads measure up to 9 feet 4 inches (2.84 m) in height and weigh several tons, which causes a great deal of speculation on how the Olmecs were able to move them - basalt quarry was found over 80 km away.

A brief introduction. Permettez-moi de me présenter. Moi, je m’appelle Simon. I’m a creative-being, language student, ginger covered in freckles, but most of all a Dutchie trying to become a Frenchie. The last five years I have studied French language and culture at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Now that I am almost finished it’s time for the next step: moving to France. My goal: to become fluent in French. I expect that it will take about a year, after which I will decide on staying in Bordeaux or returning to the Netherlands to begin a Master’s degree course. I’d like to become fluent in at least five languages, score so far: 2,5/5. Dutch, my native language, English and French (I am pretty fluent, but I am a perfectionist). So far my brief introduction, it’s already pretty elaborate. ¡Hasta la próxima vez! (I also speak some Spanish, haha!).
