As the Olympic Games are officially starting in a week, I decided to finally sketch some of the designs for my Twisted Wonderland Olympics AU! Next up are Riddle, Trey and Cater.

AU summary

This is a magicless AU where all of the TWST characters are Olympic athletes in the real world. Some win medals, some barely qualify — but all of them live in the Olympic village. The students are aged up here (usually early to late twenties) while the faculty members have no set age and work as sports reporters.

♤ Character introductions ♤

ACE TRAPPOLA — A 21-year-old Italian prodigy basketball player. He's considered to be his team's ace (pun intended) and is great at tricking his opponents, making tons of baskets for the Italian team, and efficiently assisting his teammates.

DEUCE SPADE — A 21-year-old Japanese track and field athlete competing in various smaller disciplines falling under the "track and field" term. He's extremely average at most things other than sprints, often ends up in the bottom 3, and is secretly incredibly insecure about not being the best at anything.

ALLEN ALAGONA (YUU) — A 21-year-old Japanese-Italian gold-winning figure skater competing for his current home country, Ireland, along with his best friend and sports partner Alcestris. He gave up on his original dream — becoming a musician — and is now working hard to be the best male figure skater in the world, hoping to kickstart a career as a musician later on.

♤ Relationships ♤

ACE & DEUCE — Their friendship originally started when Ace posted a picture of himself watching a sprint competition while Deuce made a grimace in the background, causing the photo to go viral and become a meme. Deuce originally DMed Ace to take the picture down and got teased for it, but this teasing slowly developed into a friendship. While they get along well, Deuce is secretly a bit jealous of Ace for pretty much being a prodigy.

ACE & ALLEN (YUU) — Ace is a fan of Allen and views him as a fellow gold medalist. Being open-minded and "eager" to make new connections, Ace simply DMed Allen one day and the two became unlikely friends. Nowadays, Ace also functions as a matchmaker, being the only person to know just how much Deuce likes Allen...

DEUCE & ALLEN (YUU) — Deuce knows Allen as the most famous figure skater in the world and is absolutely stunned by both his appearance and humbleness. The two accidentally meet at a coffee shop during the games one day, decide to have a drink together, and strike up a conversation. Deuce is fanboying on the inside and trying to hide his surprise that Allen genuinely recognizes such an average athlete as him. Allen, however, already knows Deuce due to closely following all Japanese competitions, and has also noticed how incredibly ambitious Deuce is. Knowing Deuce's pain of carrying other people's hopes and never being the best at anything all too well from his teen years, Allen wants to get to know him better... and what starts off as mutual admiration and a celebrity crush on Deuce's side develops into full-blown love.

The gesture never fails to make Luca flustered, his expression shy but pleased as he stares at Riddle fondly. Riddle also does this when wishing Luca goodnight, unable to resist making him flustered once more ♡ ๑

Likes: Astronomy, dancing, contortion, music, strawberry thumbprints

Dislikes: bullies, people who are quick to insult her, squid, overly squishy foods

Nicknames: Mantis Shrimp (Floyd)

Personality:

Jewel is quite extroverted with a fiery nature, speaking her mind freely and has been known to get into a few spats with different students. Her open and playful attitude is shown more when she’s with her close friends and is never one to back down from a playful fight. She has a strong competitive spirit and has been known to have a short temper, however despite her “quick to fight” attitude that shes gain, she’s kind and loving towards her friends, and even more towards those she’s closet too.

Jewel is quick-witted and secretive, although not intentionally. Despite her extroverted nature known to a lot of people that meet her, Jewel doesn’t actually talk about her personal life or her life back in her world unless she’s specifically asked about it, which initially lead to her friends to realize that they knew almost nothing about her.

Jewel is confident in herself and in her talents however does she have her moments of insecurities, mainly about her understanding of magic or how she still has trouble adjusting. When there are times Jewel needs to be serious, she becomes cold losing her carefree attitude and replacing it with one of strictness and sharp words. She isn’t afraid to show her dislike towards someone and will at times be very open about it.

Background:

Truth be told, Jewel knows little about her family only knowing that she and her brother grew up in a circus, her brother made it a deal to keep their families background from Jewel. Despite this, she never really made an effort to know more about her past and was content with how her and her brother’s life turned out for the better. Even back in her own world, Jewel was known to have a bit of a temper and would get into fights with people who would either bother her or other members of the circus, because of this her brother and her would argue about her fighting habits.

Back in her world, Jewel was part of an acrobatic act that consisted of mostly contortionist. As she grew up she learned various tricks whether they were silly close up magics, illusion tricks, contortion, or different kinds of dances. Coincidentally She once tried practicing to be part of the trapeze act but she fell and nearly face planted onto the net and gave up on it.

Before being transporting to Twisted Wonderland Jewel and her brother had gotten into a nasty argument. Jewel had gotten a part in a small musical that a theatre close by was orchestrating, she had wanted to give the audition a try and try something new. This wasn’t because she had grown tired of the circus life or wanted out she simply wanted to try something new and on her own. However when the time came for telling her brother, he was heavily against it. A terrible argument unfolded one that in the heat of the moment her brother stated she depended on people too much and didn’t have what it took to make it on her own, and Jewel who renounced her life in the circus and her brother, before running away. Not knowing that’d be the last time they’d see each other. (Cue Jewels Dream)

Jewel Trivia + Headcanons

When she first arrived she was actually cold and standoffish but as she got closer to the duo she started to become more of her extroverted self.

Because of her habit of keeping her personal life to herself, nobody really knew she was part/raised in a circus until she scared the living daylights out of Ace and Deuce one day from back bending after Riddle threw a teacup towards them (she was standing in between both of them) they thought she had broken her back and Deuce nearly fainted when she did it.

Started her own club called the “Dance Society” but she currently remains being the only member.

Actually had wanted to start a club to teach others contortion but Crowley had denied her request stating he was not going to be held liable for any broke bones or injuries.

Jewel uses the gym after the Basketball club because of the space and because she can get most of her tasks and work done by the time they finish.

Likes to use her contortionist skills to scare her friends.

Ace had once asked her to teach him some tricks but quit after just a few flexibility warmups. (He was left sore for days)

Despite never learning how to swim she likes the water but never goes any deeper than chest level.

Floyd threw her into the pool one day but she just let herself start to sink instead of splashing around and panicking. Floyd thought she was messing around until he noticed she actually wasn’t coming up at all.

A terrible cook. Anything she touches burns, it’s a miracle her and grim are still alive. Probably places second to Lilia but at least she follows the recipe she’s just terrible at it

She actually wears glasses and needs them to see from far away but so far has managed to handle herself without them (she occasionally uses and old pair from Sam’s Shop and mostly uses them at night or in class)

Dislikes Vil because he had called her a potato when they had first met and didn’t like how he criticized how she talked or how she acted which led to Jewel punching him for his rude remarks (however Vil never actually meant to insult her and simply wanted to give her advice but his choice of words weren’t the best ones)

Later on they slowly started to get along but refuse to admit it. If anything they’re more like frenemies.

Actively got into a lot of fights, whether it was form people picking on her or seeing people bullying someone else.

Mostly got into a lot of fights with Savanaclaw. She became friends with Leona through those fights considering he’d have to step in or Ruggie would inform him.

Initially I had actually wanted to make a twst version of Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but along the way I started added to some changes to her design and some of my own traits to her character design . So she still remains being inspired by Esmeralda and I tried to keep a connection between the two, however I ultimately did add my own take to Jewel and her personality.
