⋆ Ruthie and Cater were getting ready for bed, talking to each other on the phone while doing so. Cater was in his pajamas, brushing his teeth as he listened to Ruthie. She was also in her pajamas, putting her hair up as she told him about her day. Cater sat at his desk once he was finished, having some homework he needed to finish up before he could head to bed.

"Hey babe, do you think we could switch to facetime now? It's been so long since I've seen you!"

⋆ Ruthie laughs, walking over to her bed. She lays down on her stomach, her phone propped up on her pillow.

"Cay! You just saw me two hours ago, when we facetimed during dinner!"

He smiles as he hears her laugh, acting dramatic as he playfully responds back,

"Two hours is too long! I wanna see my Ru-Ru!"

⋆ She laughs to herself at his dramatics, unable to stop her heart from racing at his words. She immediately switches their call to a facetime, watching Cater appear on her screen. His camera is shaky for a moment as he moves his phone, propping it up on his desk so he can look at her as he works. Once his view was clear, he looked at her through the screen, his arm on his desk as he holds his face in his hand. His eyes are full of fondness as he looks at her, his voice full of affection,

"Hi"

She laughs at his greeting, amused as she returns it,

"Hello"

"I missed you"

"Darling, it hasn't been that long! ...but I missed you too"

⋆ He smiles at how genuine her words were, trying his best to focus on his homework but unable to look away from his screen. He remembers a question he wanted to ask her earlier, figuring now would be the perfect time, wanting to see her reaction.

"Now that I've got my cutie's attention, I have a question,"

Ruthie perks up at this, curious to know what the question was.

"Would you still love me if I was a worm?"

⋆ "...a worm?" She responds back, wanting to make sure she heard correctly.

"Yep, a worm! Would you still love me if I was one?"

Her response was immediate,

"Of course I would! You could sit on my shoulder, or in my apron pocket. Oh! And they make those toy skateboards, the one's people play with using their fingers! I could get you one of those, so that you could still skate! ...I'm not sure how we would communicate with each other, though...is there a worm language I could learn?"

⋆ He laughs at how seriously she's taking the question, his chest growing warm at her consideration for him. After a moment she's looking him over as best as she can through the screen, asking,

"Wait, Cater, are you going to be a worm? Is that why you asked? ...You haven't been cursed, have you?!"

His laughing continues as he shakes his head, immediately reassuring her,

"No, no! I haven't been cursed or anything! It's just a trend couple's are doing on Magicam, asking their partner's if they would still love them if they were worms"

⋆ She becomes embarrassed at her reaction, shyly turning away from her phone,

"Ah, I see..."

She turns back to her phone after a moment, a shy smile on her face,

"Well, if you were a worm, you'd be the coolest, most handsomest one there is!"

His heart races at her words, his face growing warm. Even though the scenario was silly, the idea that she thought he was handsome and cool, no matter how he looked, filled him with happiness.

"Well, if you were a worm, you'd be the cutest one around. Everyone would be jealous of my cutie, even as a worm!"

⋆ She squeals at his words, her face growing warm. It makes her so happy to know that he would still love her, even in this silly hypothetical scenario. Since he would love her as a worm, she couldn't help but wonder...

"Hey, honey?"

"Hmm?"

"Would you still love me if I was a hamster?"

"A hamster?"

"Yes, a hamster! Like Raisin!"

"I think you'd be cuter than him...no offense, Ray-Ray!"

She turns to the hamster cage sitting in her room, Raisin fast asleep inside it. She laughs before responding,

"He's asleep, so I don't think he heard you"

"Oh, that's good! Wouldn't want to offend my step son"

⋆ She laughs again, her chest growing warm. She always loved it how Cater treated Raisin like the hamster was their child, it was so cute!

"So, would you?"

"Hmmm, I don't know..."

"Cater!"

"I'm just teasing! Of course I would"

"Awww, really?"

"We could both be hamsters"

She gasps at his words, grabbing her phone as she suddenly sits up in bed, excited,

"We could?!"

He laughs at her excitement, his fondness never wavering.

"Yep! We could be like those hamsters from that show you like. What's it called again?"

"Hamtaro?!"

"Yeah, that's it! Hamtaro! Hang on..."

⋆ He picks up his phone, searching online for an image before he sends it to her. It was a picture of Bijou and Hamtaro.

"Look, it's us!"

She squeals as soon as she sees the picture, pressing her hands to her cheeks in happiness.

"Oh, Cater! Do you really think this is us?! How romantic!"

His heart races at her enthusiasm, enjoying how happy she was. Though, her statement did confuse him a bit...

"...romantic...?"

⋆ Before they could continue their discussion, a loud series of knocks could be heard at Cater's door, a voice shouting from the other side.

"Cater, what have I told you about staying up past curfew?! Your lights better be off in the next two minutes, or there will be consequences! Don't make me confiscate your phone again!"

He scrambles to get up from his desk, shouting out a "Sorry, Riddle!" before grabbing his phone.

"Got to go, babe! Love you~"

"I love you too, darling! Have a goodnight!"

He tells her goodnight and blows her a kiss before ending their call, moving to turn his lights off and get into bed. Riddle seemed to be pleased by this, stepping away from his door after a moment. This wouldn't stop him from scrolling through Magicam half the night, though.

⋆ A few days later Ruthie is visiting Night Raven, having stopped by to talk to Yuliya. They sit in the club room for the board game club, enjoying tea and snacks as they played a game.

"And then, he sent me a picture of Bijou and Hamtaro and said it was us!"

"Oh wow, how romantic!"

"I know, right?! That's what I thought too!"

Ruthie holds her hands together, moving them close to her face as she tilts her head, sighing happily. Yuliya looks down shyly, adjusting her glasses as a small smile comes to her face.

"I wish someone would be that romantic with me..."

Ruthie perks up at this, going into matchmaker mood as she lists off people she thinks would be perfect for her. They're unaware of the others sitting at the table behind them, one of them in particular listening closely to their conversation ♡

So, as some of y'all may know, my tablet has been on its last legs for a while now, but it recently has become worse and its on its deathbed. I have been saving up from charms sales to buy a new one, but due to this sudden setback, I haven't been able to save up enough and I'm at the 30-ish percent mark, so I'm opening emergency commissions so I can gather funds as quickly as possible before my tablet croaks lol;; These will probably the only commission slots I'll open this year since I'm working on my thesis, so if you've been waiting for me to open them, this will be the only time to get some custom art from me

half of my ap tests are done so i can finally draw a quick art of Jack and Kiyuu BECAUSE THEY MEAN SM TO ME OKAY LIKE WAIT LIKE. THEY ARE THE BFFS EVER. the relationship ever they're just guys. do you. do you get me like listen. wait. like.

i wanna talk ab them more but like. idk. um lets see main points *checks notes* Kiyuu admires Jack’s hard-working personality and his passion for his goals because Kiyuu’s the type of person who’s very out of touch with any strong emotions and has a hard time being intense about anything ever. He’s also very down-to-earth (at least more than like most the guys in nrc) and since Kiyuu’s never been good at reading people’s true intentions (because she has the innocent until proven guilty mindset to the max), even if Jack pretends not to care, he’s still easy to read, which Kiyuu likes.

and also his independent personality sparked a desire in Kiyuu to befriend him so hard that he won’t know what hit him.
