My take at the redraw challenge issued by J Scott Campbell on twitter back in 2021 to redraw his classic Black Cat.

Here comes the best family counselor in the City

I also kinda felt like he was also not exactly thinking straight after being beaten around so badly and taking several pretty nasty blows to the head and face that would have out right killed a human/awoken just from the sheer damage done. Surviving as he did only because of being an Exo and thus a lot more durable to a point.
Plus neither Cayde nor Sundance couldn't have known one of the scorn had a gun capable of firing Devourer bullets. There was the high risk Sundance getting damaged when she came out in far less than ideal circumstances, but that just guaranteed any shot was going to be a kill shot.
I know Cayde's death is a subject that's been beaten to death over and over but. I think this week's lore tab answered why Cayde, an otherwise extremely competent Guardian, would summon his Ghost in the middle of a battle.
At the start of the cutscene, Cayde had just been resurrected. If being resurrected is like waking up from a sleep or coma like Saint said and you need time to fully reorient yourself, maybe Cayde hadn't fully "woken up" as it were before he pulled Sundance out his pocket
Yeah for sure. Cayde was in a life and death situation and probably overestimated his odds, due to having just been rezed and then experiencing the high of a combat situation. And I know people also fault Sundance for actually doing it, but we know from other Ghosts that they almost universally have a compulsion to help their Guardians. Like, it's innate. Not everyone has it equally, but their instinct is to protect their Chosen.
Time and time again, we've seen Ghosts going into dangerous situations and even accepting certain death in order to protect their Guardians. Sundance healing him and then dying for him could've given him a chance to escape. It's a risk worth taking, especially with this whole explanation that being freshly rezed is not putting you at full power in the first place. She wanted to help as soon and as much as possible. It's understandable.
After nearly 20 years may be at the end of my diagnostic hell journey
Anyone who saw my DeviantArt likely saw my occasional grump and diagnostic posts. Been previously been formally diagnosed with Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia (resting heart rate of 100+ bpm and random palpitations and speed up with no trigger) and Hypophosphatemia (low phosphate salts in blood). Those two took best part of 15 years to come to due to being very rare, but both are symptoms without a cause. They've caused exercise intolerance, fatigue, pain and brain fog. Going on phosphate supplements and Coenzyme Q10 helped some, but was still having pain, issues exercising, random fatigue and brain fog. Finally been formally diagnosed with the cause for the above symptoms; Pernicious Anemia. Rare but manageable and treatable. I start on a 4 round booster shots of B12 this coming week then 4 shots per year for the rest of my days.
