Introduction To My WIPs (so Far)

Introduction to my WIPs (so far)

Usurped Thrones and Relentless Fates

After the King’s sudden death, his brother takes the throne and, in an effort to appease the citizens and divert attention away from the suspicious circumstances of his brother’s death, he resorts to hosting events at the Palace where even those who aren’t part of the nobility are welcome. Aidah and Reem, a thief and an illegal mage respectively, take this opportunity to attempt a robbery at the Palace. Everything seems to be going according to plan until they stumble upon the former princess, Zarah, who convinces them to take her away with them under the pretence of “kidnapping” her, promising a hefty reward if they abide. Aidah and Reem agree and the three women find themselves having to live under the same roof. Despite their differences, all three of them wish to escape their current circumstances and end up forming an unlikely bond, all while carrying out dangerous heists and ignoring the fact that they will have to depart one day even as the day draws closer and closer.

Last Phase of a Sun

A dying Sun and an entire Kingdom that must find a place to relocate or they too, would die out. Such are the circumstances when two of the best soldiers in the Kingdom’s arsenal are sent to the cruel Faye King to request his help.

Cul-de-Sac

A girl crawls out of the earth one night and is taken by a man to live in his estate. She is told that she is not human, thus she will not be treated as such. There is a beast residing within her that she must tame so they can send her to live in the temple as a priestess, where she will live without ever showing her face outside. She is resigned to accept her fate but the thing inside her keeps rearing its ugly head.

Hey there, and happy STS!

Today I'm asking a question about editing: Once you're done with a first draft, what's your editing process (timeline, software, other writer/reader feedback, etc.)?

Thank you for asking!

I don't follow one single pattern for every story but I usually write down any inconsistencies or plot holes I come across on a separate document rather than going back repeatedly to fix something.

Once I'm done with the first draft and I don't think I can find any further improvements to make, I'll have someone else read it and give me their feedback. I have heard that once you are done with a story you should leave it alone for some time and I've found this to be really helpful advice.

Once I receive feedback, I go back and make necessary corrections and then send it to whichever literary magazine I think would suit the story and just hope for the best lol.

I am curious. Does any of your characters would risk it all to save everyone or their loved ones?

Does any of your characters have a happy end with loved ones or are/will get married?

Thank you for asking!

The first character that came to mind when I read this ask was Aidah from Usurped Thrones and Relentless Fates. She's the type of person who has had build up walls around herself to protect herself after continuously being let down by those who were supposed to keep her safe. She doesn't allow just anyone to enter into her life and she has very few people she actually cares about. But she cares about them fiercely and will not hesitate to put herself in danger to save them.

For the second question, I don't think I've ever had a character get married, much less to someone they loved. Most of my stories are about women running away lol. But in Usurped Thrones and Relentless Fates, all three of them manage to escape the King and I think that's sort of like a happy ending with a "loved one" even though it's a different type of love here.

For the ask game: 4 & 90!

ty for asking @marigoldispeculiar

4. how did your elementary school teachers describe you?

Quiet. And the very general "has a lot of potential."

90. luckiest mistake?

I wouldn't say it was a "mistake" but luck was definitely on my side when I borrowed a copy of Little Women, thus marking the beginning of my obsession with Jo March and, for the first time, looking at writing as an actual profession I could pursue rather than it being just a hobby.

Here are the questions for the game.
