On his way to find his beloved, Gavin stumbles upon some skulls and bones. A successful investigation reveals an intact and beautifully ornate blade to replace the ones he lost escaping the dragon. Perhaps it has magical qualities that will help him later? 

A series of low rolls and crit successes later (that Inktober prompts just won’t let me account for) Richard and Gavin drag themselves to a small alcove above the high water line, hiding from the dangers outside. Both manage to survive, exhausted, damaged, and waterlogged. Richard tries to keep one eye open, but even he must succumb to sleep eventually

Gavin wakes up to the smell of fish being cooked over a fire. Too busy trying to fill his stomach and find the chef responsible for such an amazing aroma, he reveals their position to a lone stranger on the beach.

After a crazy display of his actual strength, Richard passes out and Gavin is forced to nearly drag him through the disgusting grit and guts of what is left of the Goblins around them. 

In a fit of passion, Gavin rushes in and in two swift movements, chucks the heathen king off the near cliff and into the cave depths, much to the shock of everyone. 

Richard is definitely not at all attracted to the idea of being rescued by Gavin. Nope, he’s definitely not seeing Gavin as a knight in shining armor or anything.
