Gavin wakes up to the smell of fish being cooked over a fire. Too busy trying to fill his stomach and find the chef responsible for such an amazing aroma, he reveals their position to a lone stranger on the beach.

A series of low rolls and crit successes later (that Inktober prompts just won’t let me account for) Richard and Gavin drag themselves to a small alcove above the high water line, hiding from the dangers outside. Both manage to survive, exhausted, damaged, and waterlogged. Richard tries to keep one eye open, but even he must succumb to sleep eventually

Richard finds himself in an endless dune. He wanders for a moment before a large figure appears before him enthroned in roses. 

Amanda chastens him for touching the cursed ring, and that all his bad luck stemmed from his contact with the ring. She berates him for using her divine power for such mundane things as Goblins, especially after abandoning the sword she gave him. 

“Your task was simple: bring me the ring, and you’ll get your wings. And all you did was lose it to a dragon and kiss a filthy rogue.” 

Richard is unable to stay standing before her, and he crouches in the sand under the pressure of her wrath. 

“I’m sorry.”

“You should be. I would just bring you back, but your brother’s cut off his connection from me, if you fetch him without any further trouble I’ll still keep my promise.”

Richard looks up, astonished at the grace he’s been granted, but Amanda is gone. 

While dragging his partner through the pitch dark cave, Gavin slips and takes Richard with him through a slippery tunnel off the main trail. 

Meanwhile, Richard attempts to come out of his magically induced coma, but fails…

After a crazy display of his actual strength, Richard passes out and Gavin is forced to nearly drag him through the disgusting grit and guts of what is left of the Goblins around them. 

In a fit of passion, Gavin rushes in and in two swift movements, chucks the heathen king off the near cliff and into the cave depths, much to the shock of everyone. 

Richard is definitely not at all attracted to the idea of being rescued by Gavin. Nope, he’s definitely not seeing Gavin as a knight in shining armor or anything. 

The Goblin King wants to get an early taste of Roasted Richie and inspecting Richard’s teeth to see if they were good enough to add to his crown later. 

Needless to say, Gavin is outraged. That neck is only for HIM to lick >:(

After traversing through the caves alone following the goblins’ trail, Gavin happens upon a large open-fire celebration attended by a sort of Goblin King. Their fancy meal? Richard. On a spit. 

Is Gavin too late? 

Richard is made to watch as his captors light a fire and proceed to devour still-wriggling cave rats in horrific fashion, the squeals echoing in his ears as he tries to keep from retching…

He crit fails his constitution saving throw, so now he’s got that to deal with, too.

Won’t Gavin hurry up already? 

Day 4: Haunted Halls 

… it’s just a nightmare…

On his way to find his beloved, Gavin stumbles upon some skulls and bones. A successful investigation reveals an intact and beautifully ornate blade to replace the ones he lost escaping the dragon. Perhaps it has magical qualities that will help him later?

Still wandering in the cave, both of our Bois fail a perception check and get unexpectedly separated! 

Nines: I am superior to you as well. You think you are “edgy”? Chaotic? Amateur.

Sixty: you’re a stuck up mama’s boy and you don’t know shit

Nines: I can send every human and android in this precinct into a frothing rage with two sentences.

Sixty: fucking prove it then

Nines: *slams his hands on the desk and stands up*

Nines: ALL RIGHT, LISTEN UP YOU LITTLE SHITS–

Nines: Not you Gavin, your dick is huge and we’re all thrilled to have you here :)

*every single person in the room immediately starts yelling their disagreement, booing, throwing wadded up paper balls, Connor is gagging and crying in the corner*
