It's the only thing he has anymore. His memories are slipping away, there's a ceaseless sense of loss. His perception of time has left him, he doesn't know how long he's been under the sharp and rageful waves of the cave. It doesn't matter anymore, for he knows this is where he has been laid down, a bed of flowers he has been mercilessly beaten into. He used to think the ocean was one of the most beautiful things on earth, it's the blood God had sewn in between land that connects all, it's life. It reminds Regulus of Barty; the careful balance of passionate anger and gentleness, the way it encapsulates you with the sound of its deafening crashes and rapid streams and holds you wholey. He's in a permanent twilight, and the only glow in his empty sky is the last moment with Barty. The concern painted over each feature. The flickering hope in those green eyes, like the sea in the night, they bore into Regulus. He has no purpose now but to love him, forevermore.
