Fellow Hetalia fans:

What are your thoughts on World Meetings? Are the nations required to attend? Do some attend and others not? Maybe they only attend sometimes, depending on if they want to/their schedule?

Meanwhile if a nation doesn’t attend, would they just have a human come in their stead?

I’ve also seen some people headcanon the World Meetings as happening in conjunction with the big UN meeting. Which I find pretty realistic. I also see lots of fics with the meetings taking place as often as every month!

All in all, what are y’all’s headcanons about the World Meetings?

I love that! We also wouldn’t have to have an odd excuse for him, as there is a small Russian Old Believers community in Oregon.

It also doesn’t have to be a 1-to-1 comparison, so we could tweak Soos’ character to fit Russia’s personality a bit more🤔?

Another Hetalia Headcanon!

The ‘F’ in Alfred F Jones doesn’t stand for anything. It’s like Truman whose middle name was S.

Hetalia headcanon!

———————

America and Georgia know one another exceptionally well. They aren’t as close friends as they once were, but they were close at a certain point in time.

During the Wild West era, Georgian horsemen (under the title of ‘Russian Cossacks’ - as Georgia was under the Russian Empire at this time), would participate in shows and circuses. They were also called Cossacks due to Cossacks having a colorful reputation.

These riders GREATLY influenced American Cowboy culture. To the point many events done in rodeo were introduced by them!

In particular with trick riding. Including the fact that the Georgian’s wore traditional costume while doing their stunts, colorful outfits and costumes became a staple of trick riding.

They were extremely popular and even Theodore Roosevelt loved them! To the point that the Georgians were probably the most popular part of the shows.

———————

They first joined Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in London, toured the rest of Europe with the group, and even participated in the Chicago World Fair!

After the First World War and the Russian Revolution, many stayed in areas like Chicago and had families of their own. Though sadly, many of that returned, were accused often of being American spies and were imprisoned or exiled.

As well as many of the gifts they’d been given and things they brought back being confiscated.

All with the majority of them having to destroy any evidence of their time abroad😕 - though sometimes they’d write odd titles on the backs of photographs to be able to keep them. One notable example being a photograph of a rider with a cowboy, that on the back states, “Proletarians of all the countries, unite!”

Another being of several riders in a car in New York stating, “Gurian riders united with local asylees”.

———————

Overall, with Hetalia, I picture America and Georgia having at least cordial relations on a personal level (removing politics). You don’t spend so much time around someone and not form at least basic bonds of comradery!

True!!!

Who’d be Soos in this scenario🤔?

For further reference:

He has the ‘goofiness’ and confidence of Mabel

As well as the smarts of Dipper/Ford

——————

You just know that he’d probably have that similar tragic backstory to Ford.

Oooh…Mathew as Stan👀 (though we’d have to change the plot a bit, since Mathew isn’t too similar to Stan character-wise). Who’d be Dipper and Mabel in this case🤔?

Backgrounds? What are those?

I’m officially on my holiday break and I have been left unsupervised with Procreate and a lot of time on my hands, so here, have yourself a shaggy-haired Napoleonic War era Admiral Arthur Kirkland!

I’ll go ahead an blame @historihet for this, because she was the one who coaxed me into watching Horatio Hornblower, from which I’ve taken this uniform reference directly (thanks, Admiral Pellew), so if you spot any historical uniform issues please blame the BBC.

Same here! Especially with how isolationist/non-interventionist the US was pre-WW2. After all, I can't remember if the move was exceptionally popular, but even post-WW2 there were people wanting to do what we did after WW1 and just go back to a more isolationist policy.

If anything Alfred would realistically be more of an 'ambivert' when dealing with other nations. Not out of hatred, our boy just has a long history of being a shut-in unless it pertains to business/politcs😆! Alfred would probably be someone who is extremely self-reliant, if we go by even the loosest terms of historical accuracy.

--------------

It just really gives off vibes odd vibes in a way. Though that may be the side of me who's studied the history of a lot of more 'anti-American' historians from the 1600s-now. A lot of the way Alfred is treated in fandom (as you said very much in a 'condescending' way), seems almost how writers like Samuel Johnson viewed Americans even before they became independent (ex. Americans are stupid, violent, they have no culture).

Apologies for the mini rant btw. I was just talking with someone on another website about this, so it all came out in a bit of a 'word vomit'😅. Even more so since I'm a huge American history nerd, and from your blog you are as well, so I'm using you as an excuse to ramble😅!

Man, I get that canonically Alfred can be a bit childish, but the amount of straight-up condescending infantilization I see him get hit with by a lot of fans is, uh, pretty grating.

100%!

Most notably Charles Dickens' first visit to the US.

He had some understandable criticisms about things (namely slavery), but overall he seemed to hate everything different form him😭. Bro basically complained about poor frontiersmen not behaving like European aristocrats💀.

--------------

Some aristocrat: *talking nonsense about a subject they know nothing about*

America: You didn't have to come here you know😑. We'd be fine without your commentary😒

Alfred/Mary in the 19th century when dealing with the overflow of aristocratic British and French travelers that are visiting them to make their totally 100% legitimate "intellectual observations" when they are really just there to hunt them down to shallowly gawk at, insult, and poke and prod them like weird, exotic animals
