A small request for my friend that I was happy to oblige ^_^ 

🔥 so i know i proposed the au where lance writes fanfic, but like... counterpoint to my own au: an modern college au where keith writes fanfic for a show and lance draws fanart for the same show. and one day, lance finds keith's fics and reads them and just HAS to draw something from it and so he does and he reads them all and he can't stop drawing scenes from it and keith becomes his new favorite writer. (1/?)

🔥 and on the flip side, keith sees lance’s fanart for the first time when he sees that his tumblr writing account has been tagged in something, and it’s art by this fanartist and keith loves it. lance uses these colors and these amazing visuals and all these small details and keith doesn’t get that many comments, so he’s been kind of down about his audience, but this fanart by lance makes him giddy, and lance becomes his favorite fanartist. (2/?)

🔥 and keith writes a fanfiction based on lance’s fanart, and lance draws more fanart based on keith’s fanfictions, and they just keep bouncing off each other so much, they become this iconic duo in the community and people think they’re adorable and perfect together, that the writing and drawing compliment each other perfectly. (3/?)

🔥 and one day, lance breaks his drawing tablet and can’t afford a new one, so he doesn’t know what to do. his art stops, and keith’s fanfiction keeps going. and lance doesn’t want to make keith feel disappointed, so he messages him for the first time, saying that he broke his drawing tablet, so he can’t do anything. and keith is stunned by lance interacting with him, they’ve never messaged before, but he wants to help, so he opens emergency writing commissions to raise money for lance. (4/?)

🔥 and a bunch of people start getting commissions from keith, and so many of them are just asking keith to write whatever he feels like, because they just wanted to donate to help lance. and keith starts a new story for these people, one chapter per commission. and it’s about a kid who has always been told that he can’t express his feelings well and he doesn’t know how to talk about these things, but the kid realizes that writing is perfect for him. (5/?)

🔥 and writing is perfect for him because he has time. he can figure out his feelings instead of just having to know them. he can describe them and take his time trying to do so, trying to realize exactly how he feels. and this kid starts to see life a little differently, tries to see an emotion and a story in everything. he categorizes things as feelings and memorizes how they shine. he doesn’t quite understand others still, because they don’t go into what kind of “sad” they are. 🔥 but the kid is trying. and the kid grows up and discovers other ways of writing and expressing his feelings and expressing other people’s feelings and he finds this beautiful world of color and light and he knows he always has writing with him. and lance is reading it, because keith is writing it and writing for HIM to get a new drawing tablet. he finds himself falling in love with this character, with this person and how they see things and it’s nothing like what keith has written. (7/?)

🔥 but it’s still somehow everything KEITH. it’s beautiful and entrancing and lance thinks is written like how cotton candy is spun, like how flowers bloom, like how the sun rises, and lance, he’s in love. oh, he’s in love. and he doesn’t want the story to end, but he wants to draw it so so badly. he keeps drawing sketches of the story on paper, but it’s nothing like his normal art, but it’s simple and beautiful but lance never feels like he’s capturing the full beauty of the story. (8/?) 

🔥 and lance is working on the side, trying to get some cash to get a new tablet, and finally, FINALLY, he gets enough. and he tells keith that they’ve done it, that there’s enough money, that he can draw again and that the first thing he’s going to do is draw that story how it deserves to be drawn. and keith is scared because the story is his. it’s the story of keith. and keith is in love with the artist lance. how is he going to end this? does he have the time to write how he feels? (9/?)

🔥 so keith closes his commissions and promises to finish the story. so he writes. the kid, now a teen, now an adult in college, writes. and starts to feel like no one is listening. but then the boy meets this person who fills him with bubbles made of crystal, of glass, bubbles of amber with flowers stuck inside. the boy meets someone who makes him feel like he’s burning but also like he’s drowning in a sea but also like they’re rescuing him. 🔥 and lance is drawing it. lance is drawing it all, watching it all go by, and he tries to talk to keith about it. tries to message keith about his art, because he wants to do something together. he wants to collaborate and write and draw something together and lance just wants to talk to keith and let him know that he sees him and that he loves him, but lance is scared. lance is scared because keith isn’t responding. it’s been a week. but keith is still writing, still reblogging lance. (11/?)

🔥 but keith, he’s written the final chapter now. and he posts it. and lance reads it and it’s… everything. it ends with the boy asking the person out, and that person’s name is lance. and there’s no way lance can mess this up, but he’s still confused because didn’t keith ghost him? and he finally gets a message from keith and keith… just took his time. he wanted to respond correctly. and he was scared. and this is how he felt. he wrote the story for lance, and a little about him too. (12/?)

🔥 and of course, lance says yes, of course he wants to date keith, and he doesn’t care how long it takes for keith to know what he feels, he knows he’s in it for him. and they do eventually write that comic together. they release it as a zine. lance is doing homework in the library of his college when he sees someone that looks familiar, maybe he’s drawn someone like him before? and the boy is making copies and lance sees the copies and it’s… a prototype page of their zine. (13/14)

🔥 and there’s only one person who has that right now, and it’s… keith. it’s keith. that boy is keith. he’s been at the same school this whole time. he’s been this close, and lance has to say something, has to say anything. so he calls out keith’s name. and keith looks up at him, sees someone who looks like someone lance has drawn, and realizes that it is lance. it’s lance. it’s lance. and he’s here. and keith is holding a book of their love story. and it really is love. (14/14)
