Headcanon that one of the things marvin and trina bonded over was just being haters together
One of my favourite little moments in the show is when marvin says “isn’t he an asshole?” and trina agrees even though that’s literally her ex talking shit about her husband. There’s a background moment that I noticed too during Jason’s therapy where mendel says “count what’s good, then divide” and marvin kind of rolls his eyes and looks over to make eye contact with trina as if to say “get a load of this guy” but notices she’s paying close attention to every word mendel is saying and marvin’s looking between them like “…huh. Really?”
Also it makes Jason’s question “should I be mean to the man?” make a little more sense like if his parents were constantly snarking about other people to each other, he definitely would have gotten the message that being mean to people is just a normal way of life lol
