So like..... Does anybody have any advice on how to build an episodic series for their characters and setting and how to build that into a more continuous narrative going forward once everything's more established in the previous self contained-ish episodes?

Was thinking of doing the Dragoons as kinda something like the webcomic Bugtopia if anyone's read that.
At least starting off showing general life stuff of an assortment of characters and the worlds they live in or something before building up
Main problem is I struggle a lot with coming up with interesting ideas and conflicts plus characters beyond just the basic main cast
