The man in this image is Veerender Jubbal, an awesome Sikh Canadian Let’s Play Gamer, critic, and outspoken feminist. People photoshopped the image on the right (of him holding an ipad) to look like the image on the left (wearing a suicide vest and holding a quran). The photoshopped image has been picked up by multiple news agencies and distributed as a “selfie of one of the Paris attackers still at large”. It is a selfie of an innocent man who has never been to Paris and was targeted, by all accounts, because he had the *audacity* to be a person of color vocally speaking up against Gamergate.

If you see the image on the left circulating, please speak up for Veerender!

The simplest answers are usually the best ones.

(this is the 2nd of december post that I forgot to post here...)

Since I just received it, and my curiosity is a curse, today I'm making a character for Coyote & Crow! After an extremely successful ks, this rpg inspired by native American culture and mythology showcases a sci-fi setting on a familiar, but different, Earth, following a large meteor collision event in 1402 that upset the planet for years. Another detail that intrigued me, is the system based on the mistreated d12.

Wanaastikoo is a 25 years old, very curious Seeker, with an affinity for the Black. A hacker of some skill, he's more a planner than a fighter thanks to his perceptiveness. He follows the Path of the Beaver, that gained him the Raven's Call, a form of limited telepathy. I haven't read enough, yet, to make up a proper background and starting equipment, though...

Siccome mi è appena arrivato e la mia curiosità è una maledizione, oggi farò un personaggio per Coyote & Crow! Dopo un ks di estremo successo, questo gdr ispirato alla cultura e mitologia nativa americana propone un'ambientazione fantascientifica su una Terra familiare, ma diversa, a seguito della collisione nel 1402 con un meteorite che ha sconvolto il pianeta per anni. Cosa che mi ha intrigato subito è anche il sistema basato sul bistrattato d12.

Wanaastikoo è un Cercatore (Seeker) di 25 anni, mosso dalla curiosità e con una certa affinità per il Nero (il mondo spirituale). Hacker discretamente competente, è un tipo più attento e pianificatore che non d'azione. Avendo scelto il Sentiero del Castoro (Path of the Beaver) ha ottenuto il Richiamo del Corvo (Raven's Call) che gli consente una forma limitata di telepatia. Per background ed equipaggiamento dovrei leggere un po' di più il manuale...

NOVA (ENG -> ITA)

A friend pointed this out to me, and now I'm taking the 31 day character challenge as well. The game I chose to begin this series with is Nova, a recently kickstarted game from Gila RPGs about a future where the Sun exploded and some of its shards fell to Earth, where people learned to use their power, first for survival, and now, with the advent of the Sparks (the PCs) they've begun reclaiming the world. The rules are simple and straightforward, but you need strategy and good resource management skills to make it through encounters.

The sheet, as you can see, is pretty minimal, but you don't just make up your own character in this rpg, you define a city with some of its most relevant NPCs and factions or organisations with it. So let's introduce Henry Laramie: a Pyre Spark, one who likes to get close and personal with the dangers threatening Ring City. Younger brother to Alycias, the scientist responsible for improving crop production to the point they can share a surplus with the neighbouring settlements. That also increased the Urbanist organisation its pull in the City Council, to the point where some are beginning to consider it a threat to their stations.

Un amico mi ha fatto notare questo e ho deciso di accettare la sfida di un personaggio al giorno per dicembre. Il gioco con cui ho scelto di inizare è Nova, edito da Gila RPGs e reduce da un recente successo su kickstarter, in cui il Sole è esploso e alcune delle sue schegge sono cadute sulla Terra, dove la gente ha imparato ad imbrigliarne il potere prima per la sopravvivenza e in seguito per riconquistare il mondo. Il sistema semplice e diretto richiede comunque strategia e capacità di gestione delle risorse per superare gli incontri.

La scheda, come potete vedere, è abbastanza minimalista, ma non si crea solo il proprio personaggio in questo gdr, si crea anche la città in cui risiede e alcuni PNG e organizzazioni o fazioni rilevanti. Vi presento quindi Henry Laramie: uno Spark di tipo Pyre a cui piace toccare con mano, o meglio con spada, i pericoli che minacciano Ring City. Fratello minore di Alycias, la scienziata che ha migliorato la produzione locale di cibo al punto da poterlo esportare agli insediamenti vicini. Questo ha portato gli Urbanisti di cui fa parte ad essere una delle organizzazioni più importanti della città, iniziando a causare gelosie fra le altre.
