Can anyone recommend a good destiel happy ending fic that takes place after the finale? Preferably with some slow burn?

You know the feeling when your life is just not going great and the last month has been the most frustrating month of your life, because you move into your new apartment and nothing works and now is has to be fixed, so you move in with your mother in law and you work to much so you can’t really deal with all of it and on top of that it’ christmas so you have to participate in traditions and buy presents and also it’s dark outside constantly, and now you finally have a day of that you of course has to spend buying gifts but you just can’t get out of bed because for once there is nothing you have to do right this moment so instead you’re layibg in bed and feeling depressed and empty and nothing can make you feel better. And you can’t get up to just buy presents because tbh you really need a shower first and some food, because you’ve been awake for several hours but you don’t feel hunger and you again also live with your mother in law and she doesn’t have any breakfast that you don’t have to prepare first (no cereal or milk) and you can’t get your boyfriends help because he is working today and he is also doing stuff all the time so you barely have any time together and when you finally do see eachother you want to be happy and not discuss all the things going on in your life that you just don’t want to talk about or think about, you just wanna go and leave it behind and just go on holiday but no you don’t have any money, so you can’t and you also cannot find a new apartment because all you can choose between is either too small or too expensive because again you have no money and you don’t want to live like this anymore you just want to be happy and have a home where you have room for your stuff and where yu can breathe and stop worryign about money all the time.

republicans will be like “good news, everyone! we have passed legislation that will make it legal for us to shoot you in the chest” and dems will respond with “we have listened to the SCIENTISTS and the SCIENCE says that being shot in the chest is bad! and that is why we are proposing a BOLD counter-legislation that would provide FREE bulletproof vests to individuals making less than $30,000 per year!” and leftists are like “um yeah I guess if those are our only options I’ll pick the dems but why is it legal for you to shoot us in the chest? maybe they shouldn’t be able to do that in the first place? where’s that option?” and dems will be like “shut up and vote blue no matter who you stupid fucking hippie” and then you find out that the private company that makes the bullets and the vests funds both parties

it’s so surreal to me that supernatural went on for so long that the final arc of the show was literally the main characters screaming and begging and fighting for freedom and rest from a controlling and obsessive author/god who had been writing their lives up until that point, who simply would not let them die. it went on for so long that it went from being a show where the two leads used phones with antennae and made references to myspace, to being a show where they literally referenced the “sir, this is a wendy’s” meme and dean said “galaxy brained”. it went from being a dark and gritty show shot on film to being a show shot on digital where the saturation was so bright that it looked like a sitcom even at night. after 15 seasons, all the fear and grittiness and tension had been sucked out of the narrative. it devolved from story about choosing free will over destiny into a story about whether or not having free will is even possible after you’ve discovered that god has personally controlled your whole life. the transformation from “classic kripke era” supernatural into “network controlled never-ending” supernatural was literally played out in the storyline of the show itself. it’s unbelievable.

god sometimes i forget just how lucky us hellers are when it comes to fanfic. im not even joking when i say that our fandom is just like BURSTING with talented writers!! over the last year, i've read something like 75 novel-length destiel fics and i would say that like 90% of those have been published novel quality and of that 90% at least 25% have been some of THEE best books i've read in YEARS, maybe even ever!! god i could never even begin to pay back these writers who have brought me so much joy over the last year but i just wanted to say how much i appreciate everyone who's out there writing these beautiful stories for us to read<3333
