TheHappySpaceman Reviews - A Look Back At Gangnam Style
TheHappySpaceman Reviews - A Look Back at Gangnam Style
This is probably my least favorite review. I don’t really know why I did this in the first place. I guess I was banking on the hope that people would care about Gangnam Style again on its second anniversary, and that I’d get tons of views. But it turns out that the viral hit’s second anniversary came and went and, in fact, nobody cared. Hell, PSY himself even released a second single at this time, with Snoop Dogg of all people, and... I don’t think anyone even remembers it existed. Oh well.

TheHappySpaceman Reviews - Daft Punk’s Interstella 5555
Remember how I said that my look back at the Top 10 Surprising One-Hit Wonders was my second review to be taken down from YouTube? This video was my first one to be removed. It was weird, this video where I shower Interstella 5555 with praised was removed, but QualityControlYT’s “review” where he bashed this movie and insulted its fans was allowed to stay up. I blame YouTube’s faulty copyright system, where literally anybody can file a report and they will take it down without question. This has happened to some of my own music videos, too, where YouTube will de-monetize them because they have no proof that I wrote my original songs.
But anyway, this video was the reason I got a Vimeo account. Oddly enough, after I had already begun uploading my backlog to Vimeo, this video was reposted on YouTube. Don’t ask me, I still don’t get it.
And yes, for those wondering, I am aware of Daft Punk’s second movie Electroma and will get to that soon.

Dark Matter - Live in Chicago 2012
Ah yes, the big concert I was preparing for. They actually flew me out to Chicago to perform at this benefit concert at the Cubby Bear North. Honestly, I’m still very honored that they did that. Anyway, this is the seven-song set I did.
1. The Fear of Fear Itself 2. I’m Myself 3. Present Intense (early version) 4. Procrastinator’s Blues 5. Dark Matter 6. I Love and Despise You 7. A Rockalypse Now
TheHappySpaceman Reviews - Year in Review: 2014
I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, I felt that I needed to vent about that year, for all the crap I had been through during it, and for that this video was necessary. On the other hand, I think that attempting to tackle everything that had happened in movies and music of 2014 was biting off more than I could chew. Either way, I don’t think I’ll be making another video like this for 2015, LOL.
While the video is still public on YouTube, it has apparently been blocked in some countries, so I’m using the Vimeo link below.

TheHappySpaceman Reviews - Monster Mash
Of my older reviews, this is probably my favorite. It’s nice to be able to vent my anger at a bad, bad movie. And yes, this movie is bad--it’s basically the Halloween equivalent of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, another holiday special released in 2000, the same year as Monster Mash.
I only discovered later that Monster Mash apparently has quite a fanbase, which is surprising seeing how forgettable it was. But yeah, I posted on deviantART a while back that somebody had seen my video and made a response/attack video that was supposed to “give me a taste in my own medicine,” which it failed at doing, and then somebody else made a response to that one, and then dirtbikeredden made a response to both of them. And each of those videos got like twice as many views as my original. Strange. Oh well, enjoy me riffing on a bad Halloween special!

TheHappySpaceman Reviews - Metropolis vs. Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis
We are finally at the first of my reviews! I wasn’t originally intending for my reviews to become a recurring thing. I had created this one for a film class where we had watched the movie Metropolis, one of my favorites. When I discovered there was an anime sorta-remake, I watched it. In this video I compare the two. Some people have said I’m too harsh on the anime, but seeing how I’m not usually a fan of anime to begin with... eh. Also, forgive the stuttering, I was still new to this whole reviewing thing, and I wasn’t even intending to upload this on YouTube.
