On Assignment: Monkeys Use Stones to Crack Open Nuts
In the Brazilian Cerrado, a National Geographic explorer is studying how bearded capuchin monkeys learned to expertly use stone tools to crack open palm nuts.

if school taught everyone that rape is bad and racism is bad instead of teaching how to find the angle of a kite im pretty sure the world would be a safer place

A shoe made of Hydrophobic Material! I tried posting an awesome gif a few days ago of something else to do with hydrophobic material, but for some reason it didn’t work, so this will have to do. Sorry :(
But anyway - The molecules that coat this shoe are Hydrophobic, that means that they basically ‘repel’ water molecules, while we are only just mastering this, nature developed it billions of years ago - Our cell walls are also made of molecules with similar properties!
dumb idea: reestablishing gender specific promotion like making equipment pink and hoping it will make young women interested in science.
good idea: focusing on showing science as a gender neutral activity without having to belittle women with the idea that 'pink n gurly thingz' are what make a female scientist. maybe then we'll see more girls get into STEM fields and not feel as if they have to act a certain way to keep in tune with the sexist gender binaries.
An alternative definition for the word, submitted by Tom Witte to The Washington Post's neologism contest:
Sarchasm [sahr-kaz-uhm] n: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.
