So on wednesday morning I had just got out the shower it was like 8:30 in the morning and I got a text from a company I had applied to the week prior.

“Hi can you come to an interview at 11:00 ?” so after a frantic call around to see if I could bum a ride from someone and confirming I could get a ride I’m like “yea that would be fine!” “okay sending you an email of details for interview”

I NEEDED MY FUCKING PORTFOLIO MY FUCKING PORTFOLIO WAS IN STORAGE IN THE ATTIC WHERE I CANT GET INTO WITHOUT MY FATHER TO HELP

so I call the company, explain that I didn’t have my portfolio “ any art examples you can bring will be perfectly fine, it’s just to see if you can actually do art, not judging the quality of style.” well okay then So I gather up my sketchbooks that have examples of entire line art, some that were hand made stencils and stippled with pain, a mock up of packaging I designed and emailed the lassie a link to my DeviantART because they wanted to see my digital as well.

So the review of my sketchbooks went great. Lots of questions over my creative process, what I was taught at art college and what I enjoy doing artistically as well as getting to know me as a person.

Come round to my dA. They don’t mind that it’s all Fanart - if anything they love all the gift art and art trades and commission work. To them that’s all a good thing. I was talking them through my vector art process of pictures and put a big focus on my Watership Down pieces as they were heavily focused on design and layout. THEN THE GUY SPIES ALL MY HELLSING SILHOUETTES.  HE ZONES IN ON  ALUCARD loves the detail and the design layout and I shit you not he said ‘I remember that from the early 2000s! “ he then goes and wants me to show him all the others (walter, integra,seras & Anderson) then all the other pieces like Hellsing Night Sphere ect.

So after an hour long interview, I then go to the work shed where they get me to make a basic line art of an elephant look like a chic and well made piece of art a client would want for their living room. I had an hour. They really liked how I made it look. Paints, resin and crushed glass were used.

I BASICALLY GOT MY JOB ON THE MERIT OF THE ARTWORK I MADE IN THE SPACE OF AN HOUR AND THE FACT THE GUY WATCHED THE ORIGINAL HELLSING ANIME WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT
